Nice review, I have one, but with built in sat nav, so none of that Garmin nonsense. Had lots of MINIs, had this from new and it’s the best driving one they’ve ever made.
Cheers Simon! Ha, the Garmin I kinda like as an idea, at least at the time when it was new (before most people just used smart phones), as it made it easy to just get rid of it or turn it off if you don't want a screen. And you don't have to bother attaching it to the windscreen and running a cable to it and whatnot. But in 2022, it's completely pointless haha. It's definitely a fun car!
When i heard about the 2024 electic mini cabrio concept, me and my wife were all hyped up about it. We then considered waiting and saving up but instead ended up bying a used r59 Cooper S automatic one year ago. I ever since upgraded it with Android Auto/Carplay, reversing camera, stripes, LED Licence plate lights and interior equipment. The Spark Plugs, ignition coils and timing chain tensioner have since been replaced (highly recommend to do that!). I even exchanged the front and rear brake pads myself and let the oil change done regularly. Next jobs would be wheel balancing and maybe new shock absorbers. For me it's a perfect second car and will never justify an upgrade to a 70k$ plastic rip-off of a vehicle. I'll never give it up until I absolutally have to! In my opinion it's still worth putting thousands of $ into this vehicle over time instead of changing to another car. Thanks again for the video and the inspiration. A convertible that noone wanted is now a wanted convertible that noone has.
I had a 2002 Mini Cooper that I drove until 2017 when I leased a 2017. Bmw has systematically taken all of the fun out of the Mini Cooper especially in the interior. Even the steering and transmission has lost responsiveness. I would recommend never having one out of warranty. I’m in the Miata world now. Happy driver again. Agree the roadster is good looking. It holds the stubby short go kart look of the older versions.
The new one with the massive screen in the middle of where the speedo was, is... strange. I guess I'll reserve judgement until I drive one, but that is a shame if they're not as fun as they were! MX-5/Miata would honestly be my choice overall too (don't tell anyone, I'm sure no one reads the comments anyway 😂) That said I do genuinely enjoy the playfulness in the design of this second gen Mini. The Mazda in that regard is a lot more 'sensible'.
I've a Black Roadster SD, with a remap giving around 185 bhp, great performance, economy, and looks .. this is my 3rd modern Mini, and as far as I'm concerned, it's the best all rounder, if like Me and My Wife, You only need 2 People in it.
Great review and some interesting facts, you always do your research 👍🏾. Nice car, I've never really noticed minis before but starting to now. Nice mits lol and nice job with the double role once again :)
Hi 😜 what a fun video! I own a black 2015 Mini Cooper S Coupe and I just got a silver 2014 Mini S Roadster 😎 they are so fun to drive! I call them my twins. 🚗🚙🇬🇧
What is the milage on your twins? When the engines start giving you troubles and needed a visit to the mechanic? I'm asking because I want to buy one with 100KM on it but not sure if I will end up paying to much for maintenance......
It's Sept 2024. I'm waiting for a 2013 to arrive from where I bought it. Meticulous records were kept and it's only had one owner. Kelly Green w Yellow accents. 72K miles. Supposed to be here in a couple days. Can't wait.
You and me both! Had forgotten there was a difference between the roadster and convertible. But there are so many different minis in that generation alone - Hatchback, Convertible, Coupe, Roadster, Clubman, Countryman, Paceman and Clubvan! All from one basic idea/design haha
I,ve got the Roadster Diesel Since 1 Year. Its Perfect, much Torque and needs Only 5,6 L. Diesel. My is very much Optic Tuned Out and Inside, so Nobody knows than it is the SD. It looks like the S :-)

Great review - lots of info in a very short time - nice to see Backseat JJ riding up front for a change 🙂
Thanks! yes, he won't be getting that privilege too often!

Is the Sat Nav updatable?
@@armynurseboy yes.
@Simon Taylor where do you to get that update?
@@armynurseboy from a MINI dealer.

Awesome, totally right there's no need to spend 70k to have a great, fun car. And yours should be nice and reliable now. Cheers :)

the new F56 is a dumpster on wheels. It aint no mini. its a ugly fat econobox disguised as one.
So i just got mine today its a 2013 blue roadster and im in the US. I drove for about a 100 miles so far and really enjoy it a lot.
Awesome!
Your twin brother is a pretty cool dude as well.
🚘
Haha thanks! He says cheers too
U have a twin? Where? (:

Nice, 185bhp is a healthy amount! What sort of fuel economy do you get?
I am interested in this car so i'll second JJ's question: What's your fuel economy?
I love my roadster! My favorite Toy!

Thanks again! I was the same - I didn't really pay attention to these Minis, but now I see them absolutely everywhere in Britain.

Good Job JJ. Great editing! If you're a fan of convertibles. You should try a motorbike
Thanks Blondie! Haha, the ultimate convertible
Just bought a late 2013 Convertible Roadster, what a brilliant sports car. Unfortunately the previous owner took out the wind deflector!!!
Love that car, and yeah I had forgot that they even existed 🤔😳

Hatchback, Convertible, Coupe, Roadster, Clubman, Countryman, Paceman and Clubvan! All from one basic idea/design haha
so should i buy a extended car warranty for this particular car? I hear theyre expensive to repair
They are but worth it!!!
I'm going to buy one now in German to bring to Portugal ..300 days sun year 😂
2013/4 R59, still going strong in 2023, with 23k miles on the clock.
Wow, that's low mileage!

Wait, backseat JJ got upgraded to the front seat! Can I take his back seat place?? 😂.
Great review as always.
Haha! I've told him not to get used to it. He'll be back in his rightful place soon 😂
Thank you 😊
Getting one.
Enjoy!
Thanks cuz this vid nailed it for me was gonna do the club. Have a cooper.
Blind spot come with all convertible
i scary for highway long drive that not have extra tire.
True! Lots of cars like that now, many come with some sealant and a pump instead of a spare wheel :(

I want to have a go in a StreetKa :)
