So sorry for your loss Kim. I lost my dad a few months ago but like you, my family had the opportunity to be with him in his final days. I hope you take solace in being able to do that and to be with family and that with time your grief eases and gives way to all the loving memories you have of him.
I so sorry for you’re lost, but happy you did get home to say goodbye to your dad and be there for your mom. Hugs, love, and prayers for you and the family.
Thanks for sharing, saying goodbye has got to be one of the most difficult events of our journey here on earth..Cherish your memories and the strength of your family.
Your welcome, I’ve been in a similar situation although I have something to add. A friend from a different culture told me that…when out of the blue for whatever reason you think of a person that has passed away it’s actually them poking at you as they’re spirit is saying I’m still here with you. I don’t know about that but it’s kinda nice to think so.
So sorry for you loss Kim. i am glad you got to spend time with Your Stepdad. My condolences to you and your family All the best to you through this difficult time. xx
Kim, I am so sorry for your loss of your dad to cancer. You and going through a lot of heartache because of your dad and mum being in hospital . I am so sorry for you and your family. My mum died of cancer as well and she had 11 children.
Hugs to you & yours. So very sorry to hear about your step-dad & glad you were able to be there for him & your mom & family. The pictures at the end were such a beautiful tribute to his memory & life. My thoughts are with you all.
So sorry for your loss Kim! Thanks for sharing that! He went back from where he came from and all of us are headed there you will see him again. You have a beautiful family. Wish you all the best
Kim, my condolences on the loss of your stepdad. My wife lost her father 2 years ago, and I think it helped that she and the rest of the family were able to be there in his final days. It appears daddy and daughter not only held things together in your absence, but also dispelled the legend of "cats are faster than monohulls".
That's wonderful that you followed your intuition and left for US immediately. I had the misfortune of delaying visiting two, critically ill, close friends that passed. I have since developed a simple rule that applies to any situation; "If you think of it, do it". I have used it to guide making decisions during my professional maritime career and pleasure boating.
Yeah...I'm so happy I followed my intuition. Otherwise I can't imagine how hard it would have been for my brother and my mom. And for me not to be able to say goodbye to Vic would have been terrible. I like your rule. It's a good one. Smiles, Kim
Very sorry to hear your sad news. I’m glad you managed to get such quality time with him before his time came. Also that you have your family with you as you go though the grief of this loss. Praying for you all. 🙂

I"m sorry for your loss. Every family grieves in their own way. My family certainly does. A cousin was in hospice and about. 20 of piled into the room. The rest of the rooms on the hall were full of families dealing with what we were going through. But if you had walked into the hall and didn't know where you were, you would think there was a comedy show going on in my cousin's room. We were all laughing, telling stories of all the fun we had with our cousin, all the pranks he puled on us and that we pulled on him. We were going at it so much I thought we would be asked to leave. The following day we all met at my aunt's house and we continued even more rambunctiously than the previous night! In my family there is an unspoken phrase that we all live up to. "Remember that the first three letters in funeral are F U N." In all seriousness... This is how my family deals with grief. We don't focus on the loss of a loved one. We focus on the find memories we have of the person. We laugh about all the fun we had with the person and then we laugh some more. We keep having fun and carrying on that we laugh so much we begin to cry. Kim, I sincerely hope that you can look back at the life of your step-father and have a good laugh at all the fun times and all the funniness you/he/everyone shared in. Don't focus on the loss too long. There is definitely a time to grieve, to cry from the emptiness. BUt don't let it consumer your thoughts and heart. Laugh.
Thank you for your comments Olli. During the week of Vic being in hospice there were so many laughs. Sometimes I wasn't even sure if I was laughing hard or crying hard - the two things started to feel the same! I hear your message and I appreciate it. Thank you. Kim
@Kim You are getting too much sun. I have not seen this channel for two years, so the change was startling. Use the sun screen liberally and see a dermatologist.
