either olive green or flourescent yellow green are two colors I won't touch for clothing, but I have occasionally used them in stitching or piecing. I also won't do beige and taupe in clothing and avoid them in quilts - my preferred neutral is black
I agree with you that the gray is blah. I rarely use it too. Recently I used a sparkly silver instead of gray and it looked so much better than dreary grey
Hi Amy, glad you had a better day and went to bed early, and sunshine ALWAYS makes things better! I would have to go with plain white as my least favorite to work with. However I do like white on white. But as others have said - every color has its place/use.
Least favorite color to use in a quilt is either grey or orange. The craft bazaar looked fun. I would have bought one of those vases! In defense of Pfaff Quilt Expression, it's what I use to FMQ. It does seem to like polyester thread better than cotton but I have successfully quilted many quilts using cotton thread on it. Sometimes I have to go with a larger needle to keep the thread from breaking.
My favorite colors are greens, oranges navy . I actually love all colors. My least favorites would be brown. I'm happy you had a better day. I have also had the machine problems you had yesterday. When I wait for a while after a good night sleep, start over with all the new- needles, thread, same bobbin thread as top thread. May or may not work. When all else fails I will pull out the manual. I only have one machine to use. Thanks for the daily videos. Love them ❤😊
Love your podcasts. My least favorite color is brown and I seldom work with it. I love darker fabrics like Kim Diehl uses, including red. I love Baltic fabrics as well. I’ve been making scrap quilts and using up fabrics I have since I’m going to be 77 in a couple weeks. There are brighter fabrics in these quilts. Thanks again for your wonderful projects. The green, purple, red quilt on your wall is next. I even have the red fabric for the center strip!
Did you whack it on the side like we used to have to do to the television when the picture wouldn't come in on old TVs? :) I don't use much yellow or orange. If I took pictures of my fabric storage setup, you would see lots of blues/teal/aqua and almost no yellow/orange/green.
Hi Amy! My least favorite is black, but if I have to use it in a quilt top for the guild, and there is no pattern on it, I either return it or use it for experimental sewing stitches or tension issues. 😶. Thank you for the show! Marion
My favorite color is Purple. My local quilt shop saves the purple fabrics for me! I also love the blues. I'm not wild about brown and beige, but they have a place. I strongly dislike plain white. White on white is better if I have to use it. I just feel that white is boring and it gets so dirty. I never wear white. I know i'll spill something on it that will never come out. And I am solar powered too. Sunshine helps everything
Green is my least favorite color and has been since I was a teenager. We once painted our kitchen a very light green. When I entered it the next morning, I burst into tears because I just couldn’t do green. My ever patient husband spent the day repainting one wall a deep purple….which is my favorite color….and the other walls a nice light cream color (which were our wedding colors in 1977). 99% of my quilts have at least a little purple/lavender in them.
I put purple in almost every quilt too. I recently had to make a wedding gift for someone whose home is black, white and gray. No purple allowed. It was very sad but it looked great. I used sparkly silver instead of the gray
Brown - brown is the colour I just am not drawn to. It has a place in applique - tree branches, dogs etc - but when piecing blocks, it just doesn't even get a look in.
If you love love love red, then you would Love my living room. We painted it a deep red...not an accent wall but all for walls. It is so warm and cozy, but I have to admit that it resembled Dexter's slaughter room when we were actually painting. I love color so over the past three years my son and I have been renovating the entire house mainly as a way to work through the grieving process because we lost my dad, my older sister, my mom and my older brother all in 4 years. So renovations were therapy for us. Living room is deep red, kitchen is turquoise, gray and white, one bedroom is deep space blue accent wall, another bedroom /my son's office is 2 walls green screen green (like in special effects) and 2 walls dark charcoal gray. My bedroom is purple with lilac/lavender bath and the other bathroom is in shades of blue. Finally my sewing room is deep teal and aqua. Least favorite colors yellow. When I bought this house every room was painted yellow... not anymore.
I love that you found therapy in your renovation. What a fantastic story. Thank you for sharing. My living room (at another house) used to be red all over too.
When my ex and I first got together, I was a little surprised by his mother’s interior paint color choice. She’d sent her husband to the store for, “light pink paint”. He heard, “bright pink”. He bought enough for every room in the house and all the hallways. Ex’s brother redid the bathroom blue after their father died. Ex and I papered the livingroom (complete with top and midheight borders-it was 1985), painted the entry hall beige, and the kitchen yellow. Had it not been over an hour to school and 90min from a major city, we’d have lived in the house after his mom passed in 1990.
I’m so sorry for all the loss you have had to go through in such a short period of time. I also find decorating therapeutic. My living room is red as well, it’s a fabulous colour at Christmas! 😉😂 maybe we are colour twins because I love colour too. 😉
A few years ago I did an experiment with my church quilt friends. I asked what everyone’s favorite color was to work with and then their least favorite. Turns out MOST of the choices were opposite on the color wheel. Interesting.
I must like green because when we moved I packed a ton of it. I don’t do a lot with brown although I am making a potato chip block with shades of brown right now.
Thanks for showing us around. That was cool. I used to do all muted civil war fabrics, but all of the new pretty colors wow it's hard lol I don't care for some bright yellows other than that I think I like everything 😂
Hello Beautiful! That holiday market looked like lots of fun. Did you buy anything? I don’t have any favorite colors or least favorites, I love them all. but I guess I’d have to say I use browns the least.
I really love all colors but for some reason I find green the most fussy to work with - and I have a *lot* of green. I can't seem to use it up. Some quilter once told me that every shade of red looks good with every other shade or red. I think that's true of purple also but I think it's the opposite with green - some greens just don't play nicely with other greens. However, I am determined in 2025 to get rid of (find a forever home in a donation quilt) all my sad, troubled greens.
What is Ranch Water? (Have to admit, I got a full body shudder thinking of sparkling water flavored with Ranch Dressing. 🤢) I hope the rest of your holiday season goes smoother than yesterday did! ❤ ETA - I love most colors, but when it comes to quilts, I am least drawn to colors that were popular in the 70's: mustard yellow, burnt orange, avocado green . . . I definitely prefer jewel tones. 😊
my favorite colour is green. In just every shade and tone possible. I think the colour I work the least with is orange. There are some more in the golden direction, which I like, but basically orange isn't my jam 😅
Really struggle with ‘dirty’ greens, browns, taupe etc. urgh! Love blues, blue greens, pinks - but then, I am a ‘summer’ in terms of my skin tone so the browns/creams/olive ranges make me look ill, that’s probably why I avoid them in sewing 😁
Colors I avoid are school bus orange, Serve Pro green, and any 'safety neon' color. They are good for some things, but my quilts aren't where they belong!
I love color, so I really don't have a favorite. If I have to choose, it would be green, because it goes with everything, just like nature. I don't work much with beige and brown, not sure why. I love the contrast that black and white can bring to a quilt. I like to give my quilt room to breathe.
It was almost hot out today! It’s crazy to me how different the weather is between RR and Kyle, though. Perhaps the Pfaff should be retired from quilting? Hmmm, I think a trip to Honey Bee is in order stat! Thank you for showing the open house. Fav color to work with: Teal Least likely color I reach for: Orange favorite color otherwise? Purple (often with red and/or teal, depending on hues).
I have the Janome HD 9 but I don’t have a free motion foot for it yet so I was using (trying) the Pfaff. I’ll likely invest in the free motion foot soon.
I love purple to the moon and back. That being said, when I was sorting out my scrapbarrel I realized that I have less pink than any of the other colors, so apparently, I like pink the least. I don't know why, it has never really offended me. ; )
My favorite color goes between blue and green, but it really depends on my mood. I love yellow and orange, too. I don’t work with a lot of browns, but I do love a good chocolate brown. Really, I don’t have a least favorite!
We all have bad days or it seems that way. Love the lipstick and your hair cut .what did you make from Donna’s challenge she showed hers in the workings. Love to see yours
Are you recording me? No. 😂😂😂 love it. My least favorite color is probably a lemon yellow. I forgot about pinning the quilt. That’s another bummer. I always have my knees on a rubber weeding cushion, but oh my back ! 🤬 Some parts of quilting should be an Olympic sport!
I baste on my kitchen counter and if it's a big quilt I work in sections. But mostly I save my BIG quilts and take them to my daughter with a long arm who is 6 hours away.
My least favorite color in general (& it translates to my quilting) is orange. I can handle them in a Halloween quilt… I have one of those on my “eventually” lists.
Fav .. blues... least fav prob brown but I did just buy a quilt worth of brown... thoug it probably is more shads of certain colors. I love a sunny yellow dislike mustard. Love teal and celery but not a fan of sage (greens) ....
Playing catch up listening to your vlog. I'm not a fan of green or orange. I love to stroll in craft bazaars as you just never know what you will find.
I love black for making other colours pop BUT I totally dislike sewing with black because I can't see anything I am doing (if you know what I mean). I do think also that RED is an amazing colour.
That’s too funny. I don’t buy or use blue either but I end up with a hoard of it from serendipity fabrics and gifts. I’ve started just passing most of it on.
Least favorite Color to work with is PINK. I love the Color pink, BUT… my quilts and quilting projects are mostly for decorative purposes and Pink is one Color I can’t seem to make “fit in” to my home.
Least favorite brown. It just doesnt spark my world. Favourite colour..very hard to choose I would say if pressed blue. All shades, tints and variations.
Purple is the colour I quilt with the least. I think it’s because purple doesn’t suit me as a colour to wear (it makes me look ill) so I have learned to avoid it. I’m also not keen on a lot of civil war fabrics with the dark browns, reds and muddy dark greens. I know there are beautiful civil war fabrics but those three colours especially are just not my jam.
My least favorite color is what my Dad called "calf poop yellow." You can imagine what he really called it. If you ever lived on a farm, you'll know what color I mean. My favorites are rich turquois and purple. Not a hug fan of pastels. Enjoyed the shopping tour.
I'm a teal, blue, green girl and have always disliked orange. I am starting to realize though that maybe, just maybe it has a use on the colour wheel after all.😂
I agree, basting is the worst. I love bright colors. The brighter the better. I don't use much brown. The civil war reproduction colors do nothing for me. A friend loves those colors. She calls them "warm." We tease her and call them boring, lol! I also don't care for solids. They seem too flat to me. Fun video, thanks for sharing!
Easy question, 100% my least favorite color is orange all by itself. I can use it as an accent, but that’s it! And it has to be a true bright orange, no rust or burnt orange. And 100% my favorite color is blue. Any shade! And what’s so funny is these are complementary colors on the color wheel.😳😂
@ I must love just the primary colors, because I find that I also love yellow, and a true Christmas red! I have been so enjoying your Christmas Vlogmas!
My least favorite is anything in the plum family, esp raw chicken or raw liver colors. Yuck. I have very few purples in my stash also. I DID LIKE YOUR PURPLE HAIR THO!
My least favorite color to work with is blue I like blue But I just tend not to use it much My favorite color Is yellow But I don't work with that color much either my favorite colors to work with are black and white and red
either olive green or flourescent yellow green are two colors I won't touch for clothing, but I have occasionally used them in stitching or piecing. I also won't do beige and taupe in clothing and avoid them in quilts - my preferred neutral is black
♥️♥️♥️ me too!
I know it's really popular now, but my least favorite color is gray. It reminds me of a cold, dreary day in winter, my least favorite season!
I agree with you that the gray is blah. I rarely use it too. Recently I used a sparkly silver instead of gray and it looked so much better than dreary grey
No grey for you!!! 😊♥️

Haha. Read the instructions?! 😂😂😂 last resort for sure 😜♥️

I really don't have a least favorite color to work with. I love all the colors!!!! Scrappy is my thing.
♥️♥️😊
Love every part of the quilting process.
That’s awesome!!!
orange is what pick last but this year i made two fall quilts with orange w/white dot on backing
Polka dots make any color happy!!!

I have no use for brown. I have recently warmed up a little to it's "mama" - orange, so maybe with time I will come around.

Did you try changing the thread? Sometimes machines don’t like certain threads.

She calls them "warm." We tease her and call them boring, lol! I also don't care for solids. They seem too flat to me. Fun video, thanks for sharing!

Browns
Browns are very popular in the “UNfavorite” category 😊♥️
Easy question, 100% my least favorite color is orange all by itself. I can use it as an accent, but that’s it! And it has to be a true bright orange, no rust or burnt orange. And 100% my favorite color is blue. Any shade! And what’s so funny is these are complementary colors on the color wheel.😳😂
I’ve found that many love one complement and despise the other. It’s funny. 😄
