- The 1985 Texas Bassmaster Invitational took place on Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Ebenezer, Texas.. Ron Shearer took the title with 54 pounds, 1 ounce and beat Howard Love by 6 pounds, 1 ounce.

My dad competed in this tournament. It's amazing that we can go back in history via the Internet and see those who have passed on. About to start my first bassmaster opens season in 2025. Rest in peace pops. Thanks Bassmaster ❤

Hummingbird lcr 4000 was top of the line then and the ranger boat. And know its just technology improvements every year . Some people back then probably thought those electronics was cheating back then

I still have an '88 and its a beast! I used it all last year without a hitch. Only Issue i came across was a loose wire. They are also so easy to repair. And TORQUE is nice.

Yall think you add FFS to your boat and fish start jumping in it? 😂. I don't have FFS and don't need it. But I'll put it this way. We just completed the Winter Bass Blast on lake Murray. 250 boats 180 boats failed to weigh in a bass at least 150 of those had FFS. Noone in the top 5 had FFS. It's definitely not a guarantee. I'll continue running my 20 year old lowrance 😂

When top of the line bait casters came out guys with zebcos called it cheating. 20 years from now they'll have ability to find fish with a drone and guys with FFS will call it cheating. Instead of just doing you today is all about negativity. Everybody forgot why they fell in love with bass fishing in the first place.

I love the old school Bass Masters. I would have to say Hank Parker was my favorite back in the day, he was a major inspiration for me as a little boy. My favorite Angler to watch today is Greg Hackney. God bless in Jesus name/God saves sincerely "The Dayton Metro Smallmouth Slayer"🙏🙌🗣🕊🔥🦅🎣🐟.

In the days of old when the men where gold, todays values are sure not what they used to be ,it's very sad on what these tournament organizations have done to this so called modern day sport ,all in the name of greed , precious memories of the mighty days of old
Back when 3 pounders were lunkers with fishing for 7 as a limit.
