Huge shoutout to Iowa State for having me out! One of the coolest properties on the planet. Hit that subscribe button if you enjoyed. Appreciate yall watching!
Wasn't really covered, but what I thought was cool is that the outdoor grounds double as a practice facility for the horticulture/turfgrass management department. So maintained essentially by those students.
Love all the content that you're putting out :) This was a fun one with a great ending! Recording with a single cameraperson is tough and you're making it happen!! Wish there was a little more stability to any moving shots; get a little motion sick sometimes with the lack of steadiness at times
This is incredible! I am a "clone alum and my best friend's dad Dale Anderson was the coach there until '97. Wow it would have been cool to have these facilitites then!
Such a cool setup! It blows my mind that college D1 golfers can have access to such facilities, but KornFerry Tour guys can barely make a living. What I'm learning is that i should have focused harder on golf in highschool. 😂
How does their team rank in college golf? Im not from America and have no idea how many colleges have facilities like this but I imagine they are the best or somewhere close to it judging by this place
What an insane facility. I know a ton of college football teams have similar, if not better facilities (looking at "the" Ohio State lol), but the fact that golf performance is also taken into account is insane. Id easily pay a few thousand for an hour or 2 at that facility, assuming i had a few thousand
That’s not really true the last few years. I live here and our course opening 2nd week of February was open through new years weekend. I’ve played 150 rounds this year already.
Iowa has rich soil so everything looks lush. It's the Heartland. I don't agree with the statement "if you can putt, chip and pitch here, you can putt, chip and pitch anywhere" because there's no one that learns their short game on northern regions Bent, Fescue or Kentucky Blue that can transition to different types Bermuda from the south without major problems.
At Iowa state they do, they put lots of money into the education programs resulting in some of the best programs in the country. The students actually grow the turfgrass used on the football field every year which is pretty cool!
The Iowa state athletic department brings in over 100 million dollars in revenue a year and is in central Iowa you can buy a lot in Iowa with 100 mil and the academic departments receive a lot of money through federal grant do to their research which includes the only department of energy facility located on a college campus in the county so I’m gonna go ahead and say the university is doing just fine
Like... if I was a kid who couldn't afford to go to college, or smart enough to win a scholarship, seeing this facility would probably make me quit any aspirations of playing competitive golf.
False. The athletic department does not receive any state or university funds. Its revenue comes from a several places: including ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, donor contributions, and conference and the NCAA. The department's budget is financed through private giving and the athletic department itself.

My fam donated a bunch for that facility
I worked as the asst. superintendent out there! Beautiful facility and well thought out.

This is INSANE! I wanna go play here. I loved the ending.
Your favorite part is the part where he said he loves you? lol
Have to play the harvester. Such a beautiful course!
I live a mile down the road from here. You can’t see anything past the clubhouse from the road. Always wondered what it looked like thank you!😅
Iowa State also owns and runs Veenker golf course in Ames!
I work there. It’s a pretty difficult but fun course to play
Video was amazing! my 10 year old and i watched it together and now he want to go there... Hahaha could you try to do Bama or even Auburn?
Sick facility. CBA

This is awesome! I wish this was my backyard!
Wow, what an incredible place as long as the student has the mindset to make use of it
I drive by here every time I go to Ames and never knew what it was. Very cool!
This is incredible! I am a "clone alum and my best friend's dad Dale Anderson was the coach there until '97. Wow it would have been cool to have these facilitites then!
Roll Clones!
Let’s go Cyclones!❤❤
I am going to go try hard in golf just to play there
Love these type videos!
Love you more
I go to isu and I never even knew this existed 😭
Drive by it once a week doing granite and it doesn't look like it holds all this from the road 😲😳
That was amazing.
You should come to Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. We're building an on-campus course close to 8000 yards and a private practice facility
Off topic, can you do another beginner to par video? I loved all the ups and downs and its one of my favorite golf videos
Such a cool setup! It blows my mind that college D1 golfers can have access to such facilities, but KornFerry Tour guys can barely make a living.
What I'm learning is that i should have focused harder on golf in highschool. 😂
😂 an absolute dream to have access to this facility every day
This video makes me want to re watched the strapped series on NLU
So that's where my tuition went... just kidding this is super cool!
You should cover fiddlers elbow where seton hall plays.
Tossed in a Like cause I already knew this would be quality
my guy! appreciate you
That is sickkkk
Both teams also can play The Harvester the best cc in Iowa and very exclusive
Man, you need to find a way to design the craziest 18 holes in that setup and play it for us
How does their team rank in college golf? Im not from America and have no idea how many colleges have facilities like this but I imagine they are the best or somewhere close to it judging by this place
i live in ames, this is cool. did you play any courses in the area?
Do the university of Texas next I went there for camp and it was an insane practice facility and course
So UT is largest and Iowa St is most insane. Gotcha
Awesome video
Appreciate you!
U welcome

Where in the world is this golf course in ames? I see venkeer right outside my window and 2 others on google Maps, but that's it.
Look near the south end of the runways at the airport along Hwy 69. If you get to Timber Creek Dr, you went too far south.
hi josh mayer golf do you need thumbnail designer?
Incredible
I like the Greyson hat
Appreciate you brother!
@@JoshMayerGolf my cousins uncle owns Greyson
Only issue is it's in Iowa and it's a short golf season there
That’s not really true the last few years. I live here and our course opening 2nd week of February was open through new years weekend. I’ve played 150 rounds this year already.
I'm 40. Is it too late for me to go back to college and also get good at golf?

So thats why I suck golfing in iowa
Imagine if colleges cared this much about actual educations
Instead of indoctrination

@@Woltz2my cousin is doing turf grass science at a different university. I assume they do something with this facility

@chadhuseman5364
Amazing response. No ordinary chad could have better illustrated my point.
Eleven 🤝 Iowa State Golf
Like... if I was a kid who couldn't afford to go to college, or smart enough to win a scholarship, seeing this facility would probably make me quit any aspirations of playing competitive golf.
i’m from iowa around iowa state and don’t know where this is lol
ROLL CLONES!
Wow how lucky are these kids! They definitely put the work in to get there though so not much luck
Wow, very nice. 👍
Appreciate you uncle Jim!
Hey Josh! are you looking to add a new editor to your team? I’d love to join.
I miss the “worst courses in x state” videos.
As an Iowan. I have to say I’m an Iowan
Have you not seen Alabama??
Unless the satellite photos are old, Alabama's facility looks like a joke compared to this
Roll clones!!!
I got to job shadow the head men’s coach and went out there and the place is sick
So sick. Everything in me not to grab a club and start practicing
As an Iowa Hawkeye, it hurt me to like this video
Proud of you
Bamas facility will top it.
roll clones
Damn!
Canned Gatorade >>>>
Tried to get coach to shotgun with me
Full Chub. WOW.
WOW
nah even josh mayer is getting bots in his comments. :(
Hate to see it 😩
Facility word count
Unfortunately, only student athletes can play here, normal ISU students can't enjoy this facility
It wouldn't allow me to share to FB because it's been reported as being "abusive"...really???? Must be a lot of jealous Hawkeyes...
Seriously?
Do you pay a dime at all at the facilities when you do these videos ?
Please reply
Sup Luke
Glad the tuition increase for “mental health services” went to good use
Obviously haven't been to Tuscaloosa..... this is trash bag compared to Bama's
early
Taxpayer money. Shameful. And I played college golf.
