    I've always been so frustrated needing to clean my pens as I generally work digitally, and can neglect them for long stretches. A pen like this is absolutely perfect for someone like me who wants to draw with them only every now and then during the month. Thanks very much for the review.

    Really lovely painting and nice review of the pen, the pen itself seens like it uses a standard jowo #5 nib which a really common nib used in other pens allowing to replace with other jowo #5 nibs, and some shops would even sell those with a modification of a super fine point almost like a needle

    • @mattjabbar

      Yes I think it is a Jowo nib 👍

    Beautiful drawing! I love the way you painted the sea and the rocks. Really interesting change from your usual drawings, where the architecture is the focus rather than the natural enviornment.

    I love the image - how often do you paint water? I've been living by a river recently so I'm getting used to looking at /trying to paint calmer water, but the sea is so textured - I don't know where to start. Thanks for sharing

    • @mattjabbar
      @mattjabbar  4 года назад +5

      I don't paint water too much - I prefer architecture I guess. :)

      I recommend you draw the lines of the waves since it's what gives the look of water in massive amounts, but just keep in mind there are different kinds of waves so you might want to see the shape of the rivers waves and finally the color. This is very important since when coloring it greatly affects what kind of water you see, since you want to draw a river I recommend using a Forrest green with a small covering of blue (make the blue barely vissible), and also don't forget just because water is transparent doesn't mean it's transparent when it's in big amounts also the color of water varies on where the water is at.
      Hope this helps

    Your discussion about relative nib widths was very much on point. The very reason one was forced to use Rapidograph pens, historically. There is no option for 'Japanese' nibs in the selection page...is this due to a flow problem in the pen (unlikely) or just a marketing decision for European and North American customers? Nice work, per usual. Thank you, always a pleasure. Stay safe, please.

    • @mattjabbar
      @mattjabbar  4 года назад +1

      Yes, I bought an Escoda Perla recently for more sharp details and because the waves here are quite sharp I used it for the whole thing.

    Thank you for sharing this. I think if you clean the nib with demineralized water after work, it's enough to don't dry, so if you work often with the same fountain pen, the capsule of water would be a gadget. My favorite fountain pens are transparent ones, so I can always see how much ink I have, it's useful to be reload at time. I use more Lexington grey from Noodler's than black for some illustration works with watercolors, I suggest you to try and if you want to make a video comparing grey to black with watercolors.

  • @Shiruvan

    platinum micro pigment/carbon black inks seems to work just fine on my preppy, I like the brun sepia! maybe get a grey with diluting the carbon black.

    • @mattjabbar
      @mattjabbar  4 года назад +2

      Yes I use the platinum in on other pens too but even with that you have to be careful and clean your pen monthly and every time you will not use it for longer.

    Great review ! I never heard of this brand before (must have missed your first video about it) but I've been looking for a fountain pen compatible with "encre de Chine" or "India ink" kind of waterproof ink for quite a long time. So I rushed to check IndiGraph web site ! As it's a bit expensive (74 euros) I'll have to wait next month to buy it but I will surely choose the same EF nib size ! See, this drawing gear review was very usefull ! Thanks for that ! ;)

    Isn’t the selling feature that it is not just that is can be waterproof ink, but India ink, which contains shellac. Platinum Carbon black is waterproof and it works great. I use it in all of my fountain pens.

    • @mattjabbar
      @mattjabbar  3 года назад

      Waterproof pigment ink generally has an additive that makes the pigment waterproof when dry - it differs on the maker.

      It might depend on the ink you are using too... I don't have the indigraph (I'm considering getting one), but I have many other fountain pens. How well each pen writes can depend entirely on the ink used.

      Hmm that’s weird. If anything the pen was “too wet” for me. I think that maybe there is a problem with the nib. Contacting the maker was a good choice 👍

    I bought this pen and was thrilled for the first couple of hours,but a day later it was a complete disappointment.The pen writes poorly, with gaps, the feeling that it is clogged(filled with ink Kuretake 60) I Regret that I spent so much money on a pen that does not WRITE ink

    • @mattjabbar
      @mattjabbar  3 года назад

      I can only speak from my own experience - having no major problems with the pen through the whole beta and final pen testing. Yes the ink can be watery when you don’t use the pen for too long and one or two times I had the ink leak a bit into the cap when I was traveling but (form me) the writing and drawing experience itself was on par with pens of similar nib class. From what I know the nib is manufactured by a third party anyway. If you have any problems please contact the Indigraph staff 👍

    I don't think this is a smart concept for me; Sooner or later I would surely forget to keep that waterreservoir filled, and then the ink would terminally clog up my nice, pricey pen...
    Better stay with dip pens/brushes for indian ink. And for use on the go there are always waterproof fineliners.
