I dont think people dislike or dont want sports cars, its the fact manufaturers refuse to reasonably price them to be something a college kid could afford.
Dealerships do not want to sell electric vehicles. Only about 10-15% of dealer's revenue comes from car sales, the rest comes from maintenance and repairs. Selling EV's wipes that other 85-90% revenue out, for the most part.
To be fair, DESPITE what people think. EV's still need 70-80% of the same maintenance that a ICE vehicle needs. Like most people don't even realize that their EV has a radiator/cooler for the batteries and requires coolant, just because the radiator is not out in front like a ICE vehicle has it. Only difference really is the motor and transmission. Now admittedly, what dealerships do lack, is people trained in those types of repairs on an EV.
I can only speak for what i see here (NJ) but most of the dealers near me only have a few EVs. So I don’t think they are going to be too worried if they don’t sell or too affected by the maintenance $
@@cjkmelee it’s a good point. It’s proof that it can be done. You look at what china is doing- they have a company that instead of charging you go to a battery swap place and they switch your battery out in about 5 minutes. No need to even worry about the battery going bad. You pay a monthly fee for the service. Not sure the logistics of doing that in the US but… it’s working well over there
@Jimmyky77 Yes, they are actually crossovers. I was suggesting that there should be overtly sporting crossovers (like an Escape ST) to replace sports cars. My Kona N is one, but it's a rare example.
WOW, I BOUGHT MY MUSTANG GT AUTOMATIC JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME. ON APRIL 3RD 2012, I ORDERED MY GT IN DEEP IMPACT BLUE. I HAD NO TRADE, AND PAID 27,250.00. TO THIS DAY, IT STILL RUNS FLAWLESSLY. I ADMIT THAT IT HIBERNATES DURING THE WINTER.
@mattm6525 THANK YOU. I USE ALL CAPS BECAUSE I HAVE GLAUCOMA. BLIND IN ONE EYE, AND NEED CAPS TO SEE FULLY ON MY TABLET. SORRY IF IT OFFENDS YOU, BUT IT SUCKS GETTING OLD.
Dodge has dropped prices across the board on all their vehicles gas and electric. Not just this model electric car. The problem is the price on all new cars are out of reach for middle class America.
Once the EPA starts to get put in its place after Chevron was destroyed, that should go a long way to being able to make reliable, affordable cars again.
I would've liked a new Maverick, but they said, "We've made all we're going to make this year. Get on the list. We'll make more next year." Kinda forgot about the Maverick.
People signed up for the Cyber Truck without knowing what the retail price was going to be and the economy has declined since Tesla initially took reservations for the truck. By the time the truck was actually available the price was too high so people backed out. People also sold their reservations for a profit in some cases. I think people still want muscle/sports cars but can’t afford to spend $75K+ on them, wanting and affording are very different.
I wanted a Mustang, I was saving my money, putting some aside every paycheck for that day when I could pick up my cherry red V6 - 305 horsepower awesome Mustang. Then they killed the V6 and sold only the 4 or 8 cylinder version. I won't buy a 4 cylinder Mustang and I won't pay $13,000 ( Canadian ) extra for 2 more cylinders, yeah, they wanted 13k more for the V8, 13 grand for 2 lousy extra cylinders, that'll be the day, so I never bought a Mustang.
I had a 96 convertible mustang v8 and it fish tailed way too easily. One cold Morning I spun at 40 and went off and rolled it. Now I don't think I'll get another just too squirrely
The current Mustang is ridiculously overpriced and includes way too much electronic gadgetry which does not belong on such a car (heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats, dual zone automatic climate control. etc, etc.). The car, unlike what Ford claims, is priced HORRIBLY and equipped in a way that makes a mockery of what a Mustang is supposed to be (budget performance car). Shame on Ford Motor Company!
My son has 2 electric cars, never had an issue with them. He’s a pretty aggressive driver and puts a lot of very hard miles on them like most kids. He’s loves them! Oh…did I mention that they’re RC cars? 🤣😂🤣😂
I was at the Toyota dealership yesterday. I couldn’t even talk to a salesman. It was a madhouse. Chevy, Dodge & Ford was a ghost town. Literally not even one person.
I'm from Puerto Rico... 1. Hurricane Maria didn't blow away my solar panels. Our roofs are concrete and those things are really bolted down in the concrete, they are not going anywhere. 2. I have 1 Powerball battery and is more than you need if the power goes out 3. There is a lot of people with money here in Puerto Rico. 4. Electricity here is so expensive, you will pay the same leasing a solar system... It is a 30 year lease, but what the heck, it is 30 years paying a lease and I will have electricity always or 30 years paying the same to the electric company with crappy service.
Sports cars are toys that are impractical for daily use. Pot holes in Pennsylvania will eat those things and toss them. That's why people are buying suv and trucks. They need a vehicle to get to work to pay for them and half the roads are barely that. dirt roads snow and ice pot holes and curbs parking lot that look like artillery practice targets. That's why I bought a Subaru crosstrek awesome car.
Scotty gets so wound up talking about EVs, especially when it's a Pollyanna story like "solar panels can save Puerto Rico". He's right tho people are nertz. When you get away from the glitz and the touristy stuff half the people in PR live in cardboard shacks. If that isn't bad enough, PR's govt is corrupt.
1999 2 valve Mustang GT stock everything and a gaint ebay turbo kit anti lag kit dirt cheap setup to beat your 80k loan! That's why it doesn't sell Scotty it's only fun to blow up if you don't have a loan payment on it!
PR facts… water goes out and power goes out all the time on a regular depending where your at… gas generator is the best option and gota have a water reservoir on the roof for when the water goes out too…
They could drop them down to 10 dollars and I would rather ride my bicycle if I didn't have my 2003 Ford E350. Nice video Scotty keep up the good work.
They could offer muscle car audio for EV's in the entertainment system. Choose your favorite "exhaust note", make the bass rumble. You know it was Focus Group tested.
I bought a 17 Camaro 2ss convertible for 25k with a perfect carfax and 70,000 miles. On a year end sale they say. Usually it goes for 32k. I think I got it at the perfect time. Aside from usual depreciation. With the electric vehicle mandate going away. I bet it will appreciate? Might still be too far out.
Scotty I have a Harley and it’s not bad bike lol the reason people buy them is because it’s the most customizable bike on the market to make it your own, and they sound awesome. They aren’t as fast sport bikes because they mostly cruisers but they can be. They get up to 160-180+ mph with the right mods. Riding is a great way to enjoy the road, you own a bike you should know. I never had any issues with my bike and I have put 8k on it and it still rides great. Saying a mini van passes a Harley is absurd. They either let them pass them because they’re maniacs or is a very old Harley.
Most people aren't buying new/newer vehicles nowadays because of the stupid high prices and total lack of quality. It doesn't take a Einstein to figure that out! You could be dumb as a rock and know you ain't paying that kind of money for what you end up with, junk!
@@davey5586 the problem is people don't know how to manage their money and save up for a cash car - so they have to go to a Stealership and buy a new one LOL My Accord was only $10k out the door during the pandemic and that K24 vtec is absolutely bulletproof 😊
I traded in my 2017 nismo 370z for the Toyota/bmw Supra and I love the car but it’s honestly sorta boring, going from a manual to an auto it just didn’t feel the same. I wished for a manual Supra and lo and behold a couple years later they dropped the manual. I should have waited and I’m not trading in my Supra for a 10k more expensive one just because it has a manual 😂
Average person needs awd/4wd, decent fuel mpg, lots of interior space, quick refuel. If the mustang was v8 with awd it would sell. The charger with the hemi failed because it was 4 door.
@Gordon-j4w I had a 68 Pontiac Tempest 6 cydonder. I end up putting a Pontiac 400 tripod. In it kept the same transmission 3 speed on the clutch by half Kept it For a couple of years I think i've got a truck
MOPAR RUclipsrs have pointed out this price drop -- and they have also told us some of these 2025 Daytona EVs never even made it off the car-carrier behind the dealership before becoming a "software brick". This does not bode well for Stellantis / Chrysler / AMC. And I am NOT buying a "HUNDRED GRAND WAGONEER" that may shift into reverse at a stop sign, or at freeway speeds, randomly. I would love to see a low-performance EV version of what Stepfanie Kramer drove in the cop show "HUNTER". Chrysler would steal Hyundai's EV customers. Or maybe a low-performance EV version of the Pontiac Solstice / Saturn Sky / Opel GT (since the "hydro-formed frame" was quite expensive, they would have to replace that with a regular one).
I remember trolley buses. they ran on 600 volts DC from overhead wires. boy. could they go. I remember when I was a kid bus drivers putting the pedal to the metal
My sister lived in Puerto Rico for many years and they’re infrastructure is crap both for their water and electricity. When I was visiting them, they only had water every third day because it was rationed. They also had frequent rolling blackouts. My sister told me that most of their electricity is oil. A lot of it is shipped in. They don’t have any of their own resources to utilize other electric sources. So yeah, those things you were talking about for Puerto Rico probably aren’t gonna work in a country that has such an awful infrastructure to begin with
People want what they want, but as a used car after depreciation. Normal people can't afford even mid tier sports cars. I had to wait many years before I could afford my 95 Supra when they bottomed out in 2007, and you can pry it from my cold dead fingers.
About solar panels being blown off. When the tech advances with innovation that is climate-location specific there will be solutions. Example may be roll up flexible panels. I recall a company that produces flat solar cells that are thousands of tiny prisms which collect solar energy in any placement direction. So they don't necessarily require roofs. Anyway, what innovations are? Solutions to problems. It's what humans do.
Sedans and sportcars still appeal to me. If I had the bucks I'd buy a vehicle for all situations. The downside to 2-door sportscars is that they're not family cars. I have a 02 Mustang GT but my kids are too big now to sit in the backseats. So, when I need to take the family somewhere I use the SUV. A lot of guys I know would like to have a Mustang but they can't afford to have 2 cars for their family so they end up buying an SUV. Besides, the cops take the fun out of having a "hotrod".
The problem is Ford has lost touch with consumers. What is the number one thing that mustang gt owners do to their mustang. Cold air and TUNE. You cant tune the 24 mustang gt and the price is too high.
@@jeremyt7752 Ok “real man”. Lol. I drive a gas truck, but, if someone offered to gift me a 60,000$ dollar vehicle, I would accept it and sell it. Because, I, am not dumb… I’ll step aside now big man.
Scotty, you’re a treasure. Love the spot-on description of Harley riders: fat old dudes imagining that they’re rebels! For a while when on their cycles they have rebelled from their easy chairs and their refrigerator!
They could install a audio system that has a exterior speaker and it is in time with the speed and acceleration actually you could make your electric car sound like a Ferrari or whatever you want.
Dodge. In “dodge ball” the goal is to avoid getting tagged by any means possible. (Roll, dive, catch & release) To AVOID! Hmmm… sounds like a great strategy. 🇨🇦😂🇨🇦. Thanks for your wisdom.⚓️
My issue with the new Mustangs is........their freaking ugly🤷🏻. The side of the car has the same panels as my current Mustang🤷🏻. The front, rear and interior is dogshit. They got rid of that iconic dash too. I can't give them another 55k for 20 more hp🙄🙄🙄!!! My '18 already has more hp why would I get a new one with less🤷🏻! The new Mustang in my opinion should've had 550hp minimum🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻. That and I heard the ECU is locked supposedly🤔.
I love sportscars, but I buy used. So the auto industry doesn't care about meeting my needs. As long as they can sell a $50k SUV to someone at 18% interest, that's what they're going to do.

Your voice "sound effects" are a blast to listen to!! Thank you for making me chuckle.
I dont think people dislike or dont want sports cars, its the fact manufaturers refuse to reasonably price them to be something a college kid could afford.
And insurance costs
If you can’t fit in a Miata comfortably and can’t swing 100k for a dumb car your kinda F’d 😂
Just bought a one owner, low mileage, well cared for 2006 Toyota Camry for 1/20 the cost of a Tesla.
Dealerships do not want to sell electric vehicles. Only about 10-15% of dealer's revenue comes from car sales, the rest comes from maintenance and repairs. Selling EV's wipes that other 85-90% revenue out, for the most part.
@@NoName-fx9zi very good point
Bahahahahaha
Tell that to a Tesla dealership
@@cjkmelee it’s a good point. It’s proof that it can be done. You look at what china is doing- they have a company that instead of charging you go to a battery swap place and they switch your battery out in about 5 minutes. No need to even worry about the battery going bad. You pay a monthly fee for the service. Not sure the logistics of doing that in the US but… it’s working well over there
Thankful to see you’re still posting
they should have never stopped that V8
Right!
You can still get the Hemi in a Durango and a couple of the Ram trucks.
Even Ford people like me believe this!
V8 juice.
Doctors need to study this video, a ten-minute epileptic seizure with functioning motor skills!
You're right. Traffic is so tall that nobody wants a low slung car these days. I'm surprised there aren't more sporting compact SUVs.
That’s why broncos are selling and chargers aren’t
There are Small SUV's, , , they're called Crossovers!
@Jimmyky77 Yes, they are actually crossovers. I was suggesting that there should be overtly sporting crossovers (like an Escape ST) to replace sports cars. My Kona N is one, but it's a rare example.
"traffic is so tall" there's a phrase I was not expecting to hear!
Ford Puma ST, but you guys don't get that in the states ;-)
WOW, I BOUGHT MY MUSTANG GT AUTOMATIC JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME. ON APRIL 3RD 2012, I ORDERED MY GT IN DEEP IMPACT BLUE. I HAD NO TRADE, AND PAID 27,250.00. TO THIS DAY, IT STILL RUNS FLAWLESSLY. I ADMIT THAT IT HIBERNATES DURING THE WINTER.
I want to upgrade to the GT but NEVER at these prices 😂
WOW, THAT IS AMAZING. THAT USELESS INFORMATION LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER IN ALL CAPS. VERY IMPRESSIVE.
La junk buy an f150 there still making them
Same true for the Miata. Great car, but it costs way more than its audiences can afford.
Im sticking with my beautiful Lincoln Towncar.
I’m sticking with my Hyundai Venue that is paid for.
I’m still missing my 89 oldmobile🤣🤣
People signed up for the Cyber Truck without knowing what the retail price was going to be and the economy has declined since Tesla initially took reservations for the truck. By the time the truck was actually available the price was too high so people backed out. People also sold their reservations for a profit in some cases. I think people still want muscle/sports cars but can’t afford to spend $75K+ on them, wanting and affording are very different.
I have a 2006 toyota prius that I paid $4400 for before taxes, and it drives GREAT. Best car I have ever owned. (all used cars)
What year did you purchase
Gadgets in cars seem to sell over reliability. I do not know why but it does. People are just dumb
Ummm ok
2. I have 1 Powerball battery and is more than you need if the power goes out
Bolt that thing on the winds are getting nutty
Week ago saw that electric Dodge at Detroit Auto Show, ain't nobody really was around it to even take a look 😁
Not even a girl in her bikini?
You are a blast to listen to, and I'm not even a "car guy".
I have turned into a “car Grandma” from watching Scotty over the last 8 years!
Scotty is going right!!! I own a mustang and will only buy another if the quality goes up and prices go down.
Scotty, you talk such sense. I wish I had teachers like you when I was at school, I'd have payed more attention and learnt more about real life.
DANG !!!!! What's Scotty smokin' tonight ????????????
🥴
da kine like always..
He's insane for saying people are not interested in sports cars... The problem is who can pay $60,000+ for a sports?
@@stonefox9124more like people not interested in a $60000 electrical sports car.
The guy’s Tesla probably started the LA fires. 😂😂😂😂
i chekd LA, looks like the goodyear blimp is inflated n ready to go .
Where's the $5000 car, Scotty?
I’m due for a midlife crises very soon.
1999 2 valve Mustang GT stock everything and a gaint ebay turbo kit anti lag kit dirt cheap setup to beat your 80k loan! That's why it doesn't sell Scotty it's only fun to blow up if you don't have a loan payment on it!
Why would you buy a car from a company that is clearly going out of business?
True
Kinda like buying a KTM motorcycle! LOL
I have a 2015 Toyota Prius and love it. It takes gas but still gets the benefit of electricity.
Glad to see things are going back to normal I too want a muscle car 😅 no electric crap
PR facts… water goes out and power goes out all the time on a regular depending where your at… gas generator is the best option and gota have a water reservoir on the roof for when the water goes out too…
Over £30,000 off new Jaguar I-Pace cars (full electric) in the UK.
i figured nobody wanted a muscle car with no ... muscle!!! 😂😂😂
If I'm going to the store or working, I like EVs. If I'm driving a girl on a date, I like a gas powered sports car.
For 80 grand i can buy 8 cobra mustangs for 10 grand each
The reason why the minivan is passing the harley is because the bike can't handle the weight of the rider 😂😂LMAO
Scotty could do standup and make some good money 🔥 💰 😂😂😂
1988 ford ranger with rebuilt 2.9 and rebuilt a4ld (over drive transmission) what's ur thoughts on these?
Most people aren't buying new/newer vehicles nowadays because of the stupid high prices and total lack of quality. It doesn't take a Einstein to figure that out! You could be dumb as a rock and know you ain't paying that kind of money for what you end up with, junk!
Will drive my 2013 Accord for at least another 10 years before I even think about buying another car! LOL
@@anthonysilvestri4946 All my vehicles are older ones and I'm right there with you.
@@davey5586 the problem is people don't know how to manage their money and save up for a cash car - so they have to go to a Stealership and buy a new one LOL My Accord was only $10k out the door during the pandemic and that K24 vtec is absolutely bulletproof 😊
this. plus nobody likes all the electronic crap like no shift levers or parking brake handles or physical hvac controls
@@Drewcardello Amen brother 🙏
I traded in my 2017 nismo 370z for the Toyota/bmw Supra and I love the car but it’s honestly sorta boring, going from a manual to an auto it just didn’t feel the same. I wished for a manual Supra and lo and behold a couple years later they dropped the manual. I should have waited and I’m not trading in my Supra for a 10k more expensive one just because it has a manual 😂
I got my challenger in 2014 for $30K. And that was still too much in my opinion. Muscle cars should have a v8, manual, and cheap. Maximum fun.
Scotty is truly his own man 😂, honesty just flies off his tongue ❗️
Average person needs awd/4wd, decent fuel mpg, lots of interior space, quick refuel. If the mustang was v8 with awd it would sell. The charger with the hemi failed because it was 4 door.
The best solution for pollution, is the manual transmission. Just drive normally and it will save on gas. And never brakes down.
Everybody wants a sports car. Nobody wants 8MPG $600.00/mo insurance, and $1000.00/mo payments
As Forrest Gump said "stupid is as stupid does".
Life is a box of chocolate.
I'll always like the Pontiac GTO all the way up to. 1970.
Can afford one do expensive now.
"...three deuces and a four speed and a 389"
@Gordon-j4w I had a 68 Pontiac Tempest 6 cydonder. I end up putting a Pontiac 400 tripod. In it kept the same transmission 3 speed on the clutch by half Kept it For a couple of years I think i've got a truck
Hard to buy one now - especially since Pontiac went out of business 😊
$40k for a used family car is unconscionable. $55k is insane. I’ve never paid more than $7k for a car and I never will.
It's not that people don't want these cars. We still want sports cars. I have one. The problem is the economy sucks and nobody has any money.
So yeah, those things you were talking about for Puerto Rico probably aren’t gonna work in a country that has such an awful infrastructure to begin with
Thanks Scotty ! I remember Joe 😢: Like when he showed up with pants on backwards 🤣
People want what they want, but as a used car after depreciation. Normal people can't afford even mid tier sports cars. I had to wait many years before I could afford my 95 Supra when they bottomed out in 2007, and you can pry it from my cold dead fingers.
I still see a lot of new jeeps around. I guess people like the retro styling.
The GTD Mustang is for the track
It’s bad when people with no mechanical knowledge feel safer buying 30yo cars than a brand new one.
If I have $30,000 it will be a camry or lexus
MDX 👍
I would decline a free EV.
Come on now…
Yeah I hate how Teslas make other cars look completely ridiculous. I hate that they drive themselves and how crazy fast they are. NO THANKS
dutch4117 If you want electric, go get a damn golf cart. Step aside for the real men who drive ICE vehicles.
@@jeremyt7752 Ok “real man”. Lol. I drive a gas truck, but, if someone offered to gift me a 60,000$ dollar vehicle, I would accept it and sell it. Because, I, am not dumb… I’ll step aside now big man.
I doubt it, I’m willing to bet you’re a beta male lib.
That the Charger is still priced over $61,000? Crazy...
Scotty, you’re a treasure.
Love the spot-on description of Harley riders: fat old dudes imagining that they’re rebels! For a while when on their cycles they have rebelled from their easy chairs and their refrigerator!
Scotty went off on this one. 👀👀👀🤣🤣🤣 But he's right.
@ford needs to bring back the LX 5.0 before V8's are gone
A four door sports car🤔🫢😂🤣😂🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
3:42 Richard Hammond bought all the GTD's and has them in his barn in Wales.
can i borrow your glasses because they must be special to see any price cut. i only see price increases month after month.
They could install a audio system that has a exterior speaker and it is in time with the speed and acceleration actually you could make your electric car sound like a Ferrari or whatever you want.
I think they'll do this. Your gamers will love it!
All these dealerships offering huge rebates can suck it because the vehicles are still way overpriced to begin with
What ever happened to market research and field testing before putting into manufacturing ???
I need a good, reliable car. What should I buy? Haven’t owned a car in years
Man, Scotty going after everyone today: old people driving Harleys, Dodge EV's , manual drivers , let up on us some

Ok idk much abt health but that Harley rider was lookin TOOOOO PHAT!!

Oh how cool. I was looking at a 40k car, now I only have to pay $20k??
I love sportscars, but I buy used. So the auto industry doesn't care about meeting my needs.
As long as they can sell a $50k SUV to someone at 18% interest, that's what they're going to do.
Any electric "vehicle" is not a vehicle... It's a go cart...
