@Eihoofd2 But maybe we are like water droplets. We think we die, but we just transform again and again. Living beings are like droplets, but collectively we are like a body of water.
“Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.” ~ Bruce Lee
"Be like a rock, strong, immovable, when water comes at rock, water just gets out of the way...when rock comes at you, you get out of the way....be like rock" - Holy Trash
I guess, the situation when you feel trapped is usually caused by absence of aim, absence of the path to go. Water always know where to flow. Should definitely read the book. Tang, thank you! Nice speech :)
You do not feel trapped because of the absence of aim, rather because there is no aim and you feel like you need one. A river doesn't aim to reach the ocean, it just does as that is what is natural. Water may find a way, but it doesn't seek a way. Water doesn't intend on freezing or turning into steam, it just does.
One quote I read about humility that adds to this is. “Stop making everything about yourself”. I like it because it applies to anxiety and pride. “I am great” and “I’m useless” both addressed in this quote. Both quotes are counterproductive to peace because the focus is on the self.
In this generation where the competition is always increasing and people aiming for success more than ever, this video really calmed my mind and a calm mind is the golden key to success
All these principle apply to keanu reeves very briefly, humble, isn't selfish, always credits the contribution of others, shares his experience as other people share theirs. that man is purity, and my inspiration.
The supreme good is like water, which nourishes all things without trying to. It is content with the low places that people disdain. It greatly benefits The Ten Thousand Things, without going against them. In dwelling, it stays grounded. In being, it flows to depths. In expression, it is honest. In confrontation, it stays gentle. In governance it balances. In action, it aligns to timing. It is content with its nature, and therefore cannot be faulted.
what about floods? Floods can definitely go against things. Also, while it reaches a goal without a instantaneous force (excluding floods), it is immortal and has endless time to achieve things and over that time a great deal of force is used. Humans are not immortal

Winston Churchill also said and did some atrocious things. For entire masses and races of the world. I hope you liasten again and find some peace from the beautiful words of Mr. Tang.
I recently discovered Tai Chi, and through this practice first began to understand Taoism on a practical level. It's been changing my life for the better, too, in surprising ways. Well spoken, Mr. Tang, and good luck in the future.
I like this idea cuz I stopped leaving the house. There isn't much out there for me; I'm either disgusted or just bored of engaging with other people. I kept going out and doing social things, only to come home disappointed. Just about everything has lost its meaning for me, and having people criticize my reclusiveness makes me feel bad about myself. I don't see the problem with it, especially if I'm not bothering anyone, and of course I have to go out and engage the world for food and supplies. My separation isn't fueled by a phobia. I'm going to tell people, "Hey, I'm content with my nature, so I can't be faulted!" I'll see how that goes over! Great talk...and yes of course I'm engaging with people on RUclips, but out of the population of the world, I'm listening to a select INTELLIGENT few. My life doesn't revolve around advancing a career so I can buy the latest gadget or iPhone, or watching the Super Bowl. I'm composing this on an iPad that's 10 yrs old and works just fine.
Thank you Raymond for sharing your learnings from Water... fantastic way of presenting it such simple but profound teachings of Taoism. I truly relate and aim to live by its principles.... I would love to understand the teachings of water when because of other forces, strong winds, tides, earth quakes.. it absorbs/transform its energy into huge waves, floods, tsunamis, etc... and generates such unintended pain and suffering? .... I have not been able to find such answer.... and I am certain that there is a loving and wonderful teaching behind it.
It reminds me how I cope the difficulties. It's simple but much more effective and reliable. When I'm depressed, humiliated, offended, feel sorrow etc. I just bend down my knees before Almighty, living God who listens to me and always responds. His love calms me down, makes me feel strong; his mercy gives me hope and faith and his forgiveness proves me that he is near and ready to understand, to forget my sins, refresh my feelings! Only in Jesus Crist we can find truly tresure for our lives, that's salvation and eternal life with him in the heaven.
i love this! it is so close to my own philosophy of life, i always get really excited when i see huge youtube channels (like TED) post videos that are so similar to my own content 😄
1 Peter 5:5-6 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
REFLECTION: This is what made Bruce Lee the greatest of all. He believed in the philosophy of water. The key to humility is not being silent, but openness and willing to adapt. thanks for the presentation.
“Do nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with humility consider others superior to you, as you look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others”
So meaningful suggestion given by this men infact it's Verity of real life if we want to look themselves cleary first, change your thought and become humble after sometime we definitely see the changes in our life. Thank u🙏

Knowing that this paragraph is just a tiny part of this book. I kindly invite everyone to read it, 道德经 / Dao De Jing / Tao Te Ching. Also we should note that it is an ancient book, so, there are some (or many) paragraphs that require further research and/or reflexion. Even in Chinese they can have several meanings. It is never too late to start ! 🙂
Water is the most underrated thing in this world. No one’s caring about Water, but try to remove that everyone lose their minds. Also all civilizations starter around the water.
"nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished" THAT SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE
“All streams flow to the ocean because it is lower.” KNOCKED ME DEAD
@Eihoofd2 hehehe
@Eihoofd2 But maybe we are like water droplets. We think we die, but we just transform again and again. Living beings are like droplets, but collectively we are like a body of water.
it's a beautiful sentence

I feel like I often put very high expectations on myself but I've realised that you have to humble yourself and start small to get something big.

Mogul DaMongrel wrong... steam is still water, just in a different physical form. So is ice.

Water :) .
A TED talk that is not total garbage!? That is unseen these days.
Thumbs up for the Tao Te Ching. That's a wonderful book.
This ted talk made me feel peaceful 😌
Yeee the same ! 😊
same
Probably one of my favorite Ted talks ever. I'll rewatch this every few months
The book itself can give you even larger and deeper harmony. It may last during the whole life. I recommend this book sincerely 🙂
How wonderful this is
I guess, the situation when you feel trapped is usually caused by absence of aim, absence of the path to go. Water always know where to flow. Should definitely read the book. Tang, thank you! Nice speech :)
Water finds a way!
Would you know of which English translation to recommend?
You do not feel trapped because of the absence of aim, rather because there is no aim and you feel like you need one. A river doesn't aim to reach the ocean, it just does as that is what is natural. Water may find a way, but it doesn't seek a way. Water doesn't intend on freezing or turning into steam, it just does.
So true
water's whole aim is literally to go with the flow
Simply wonderful. I really want to try and apply this to my everyday life as well.
One quote I read about humility that adds to this is. “Stop making everything about yourself”. I like it because it applies to anxiety and pride. “I am great” and “I’m useless” both addressed in this quote. Both quotes are counterproductive to peace because the focus is on the self.

I appreciate you Raymond Tang. I got chills down my spine too. I feel way better thank you.

Is it Tao Te Ching? Bruh I started watching video and it is from Tao Te Ching lol.
Those who can do such are either super healthy and pain free, or are super tolerant of pain and nastiness.

Humility, harmony and opennes

Lorenor Zorro that is great way to remember! ^^
Maxi Schmidt well, he said it in the video, otherwise i wouldnt have figured it out myself i think 😂

THANK YOU! I too have learned so much from his poems. "Muddy waters lie still become clear." 6 words that say so much.
His speech was as smooth and flawless as water!! Enjoyed it!❤
😗😍😆
This guy is so calm and knowledgeable
Just what I needed today. I believe in this idea. No wonder I love just being around water.
‘He is a humble man, but then he has much to be humble about!’
Sir Winston Churchill
Winston Churchill said that about Clement Atlee, the socialist who defeated him for prime minister in 1946.
Winston Churchill also said and did some atrocious things. For entire masses and races of the world. I hope you liasten again and find some peace from the beautiful words of Mr. Tang.
It's incredible how well he controls himself through that initial wave of emotion
This is one of the most life altering videos I've ever watched.

One of the best TedTalks I´ve ever seen. Amazing.
The world has never needed this book more than now. Every single question is answered. The dao is all there is.

Thank you so much for explaining the concept of humility in such a powerful image! I can't wait to try those principles out on daily life!

Hi in my opinion I think that those three lesson I learned that life is completed with these three set in life and in the world.
Take everything easy...you will surely arrive at your destination! Any obstacle, dont be agigated just move around them keep moving and get focused
sit down,be humble!
Humility!!
Really an awesome lesson!❤
Lovely, simple, and true.
Eloquent and powerful like H2O. Thank you.
The road can have obstacles, but water just stays calm and always finds a way :)
This is one aspect, but humility comes much later in life to endure hardship.
Water flowing in a river keeping all the plants and animals alive yet not drawing attention to itself wow. I love that
Water thought you to be open to learning so powerful
Water flows around rock and doesn't get agitated
Outstanding, thank you so much for such a wonderful, meaningful talk on The Tao!
I still feel it too bro. ❤❤❤
WATER, BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS.
BE A LEGION OF GREATNESS.
Wonderful insight indeed!
WOW, what an interesting way of thinking.
Indeed I like the humbleness that he presented in TAO TE CHING. BRUCE LEE - WATER PHILOSOPHY.
Powerful Thoughts! Thanks for sharing!
I always love these kind of videos
Bravo, stop focusing on things I can't control, I love that!
thank you so much. delicious to eard and from follow. I will try to do so HHO :)
I want to be water, not soda. I have been watching this talk 4 times. How meaningful the philosophy of water is!
I was told I was to cocky for her. Decided to change so watching lots of videos on humbleness
Ancient philosophy that is simple and pure. Great talks!
