@Codystruckingadventures Most definitely will I have 49 days left before I officially get out of the army so just been applying to places and keeping my options open. I've talked to sysco they told me to apply when I am with 30 days of ets and to let them know when I resubmit my application. So I will do that as well as apply to pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper.
💪 hello from NJ. Subscribed 3 videos ago as it came up on my feed. And agree, the straps save you time more than anyone else, so I can see why you might have to bring your own. It’s unfortunate, but when I worked EMS I also had to bring some of my own supplies. Made it to the end 😎
If I had this route I would build some shallow wooden ramps so that I wouldn't have to use the lift gate when the tandems don't move and leave them stored at that wooden dock store or buy a bigger dock plate and leave it there. Ask the manager to possibly buy it or go in with you on the purchase or ask your employer if they would buy one for you for that store. Food for thought!

All good, like the videos. Good on you catching the unsecured load, be careful with that because if you ever get in a DOT stop and they catch that, it's a ticket. I'm a long time Heavy Haul/Oversize guy, so another tip for you, since you're not overweight permitted, you can be under 80,000lbs, but still be overweight on an axle if the DOT is using axle scales, and overweight tickets can be expensive. It's all about being careful and attentive, I've been fortunate to never have a ticket or DOT violation, just be careful out there. Lots of bad drivers, so don't be in a hurry and be safe.
Hey Thomas thanks for the tips! That’s awesome that you haul oversize that’s a goal of mine way down the road once I get the experience. Stay safe out there man👍🏼
@@Codystruckingadventures No problem, just a few thoughts that may help a newer driver. Heavy Haul is a great job, but you do need a LOT of experience and a spotless record, but it does pay big $$$. The downside can be that you'll be out in all weather, mostly at night and there's a lot of physical work involved (chaining and securing loads, up and down off the trailer, and DOT loves flatbeds and lowboys). You have a good attitude and seem to be safety minded, so keep that up and you'll be just fine. Stay safe, avoid the crazies, and feel free to reach out any time.

I'm the Canadian guy that sent you that soft drink rhyme a couple weeks ago. Up here in Winnipeg, Canada Dry is handled by Coke and Pepsi handles Schweppes and 7-up is on their own. I was confused until you said you didn't work for Pepsi outright. So, to me it makes sense that there is a variety of drinks on your loads. Am I right, your company is a distributor for soft drink company's or does Pepsi handle all those drinks on their own trucks? Thanks Wally

Do you have the same amount of freight?
@@MrDroidx35 yeah pretty much a full trailer every day. I typically only have about 3 stops but I travel longer distances. Usually at least 500 miles or so.
Working for someone other than Pepsi, Cody must mean your company is a distributor for Pepsi and other drink companies. I saw that you had Canada Dry and 7-up on this load.
Hey Wally thanks for the comment! No you’re absolutely correct we just distribute it and the product Varys state to state! That’s awesome always wanted to take a trip to Canada 🇨🇦
@@Codystruckingadventures Thanks Cody.
Great video!
How many hours a week do you work?
Thanks! I usually work 39-42
You got that Bluetooth strap 😂
You already know!🤣
Where do u see 17 n hour? Thats probably merchandisers. Alot of places in country all beverage is kinda low but its still 24-30 n hour for bulk. Small store can be about same but some areas is more like detroit coke and pepsi average like 40 n hour. Some coke guys i know (i use to work there before i started dealing with layoffs) average 50.😂
In my state is what I talk about I can’t speak for other parts of the country
Are your Walmarts on asn
Yeah but they scan the ASN and still check every item so it still takes a while🤦🏻♂️
@@Codystruckingadventures I work for another distribution company in nc and our Walmart just scan the asn only I’ll bring in about 5-6 pallets and it takes me about 15 minutes unless there’s an audit
I wish ours was like that!
First day in the truck today man. I feel worse about it than I did before
Nah man you got this it takes time give it a week and you’ll be even better.
@@Codystruckingadventures did y’all start with backing? That’s what we did all day
Yeah we started with straight back where are you at?
@@Codystruckingadventures place called R.E. West right outside of Nashville. They had us doing straight back, alley dock and offset right off the bat. We was all struggling pretty bad you could tell the instructor was frustrated
For whatever reason there's one truck that our warehouse never puts any straps on, the pallets are always dumped all over
That’s wild it sounds like we have the same problem haha!
Do you collect at each stop?
Yeah I do!
You were going to tell us why you stopped painting and got your license for truck driving, or maybe I just missed the comment.
You've got a good local job, please don't go over the road especially with a wife and kids at home!
