- The Kerala sadhya meal is an essential part of Malayalee cuisine. Traditionally served at festive occasions like Onam, Vishu, weddings and the likes, the sadhya on average consists of 21-28 dishes! The meal celebrates the use of vegetables, fruits, various lentils, spices, yogurt and of course coconut in various forms! To end on a sweet note, the meal consists of 2 varieties of payasams, a traditional dessert from Kerala.
The non veg food here is also very popular specially among keralites. Karimeen Polichatu, Chicken Chettinadu and Chicken Mandi Rice are hot favourites.

Kerala food is very tasty and light in digestion. Madam you always give information of different kinds of Indian foods which is very tempting. Will visit the place soon. Thanks.
Kerala Pappadam is made with urad. Tamil Nadu Appalam is made with Rice flour.
Pachchadi consists of wet ground sesame seeds, curd. The best ones are made with either bitter gourd, ladies finger even with pineapple.
other common veggy dishes are Kaalan, kichadi, avial, olan, injipooli, thoran etc. The names are of veg recipes, each one is made with different vegetables.
The meal starts with rice mixed with parippu(plain moong deal + ghee) Pappadam crushed together, then with sambhar, then rasam, then curd (Use the buttermilk soaked, fried chilly with curd rice.), then buttermilk.
The curries are meant to accompany the different rice liquid mixes mentioned in sequence above.
Then comes payasam, wherein the plantain is also squeezed in with parippu/palada variety.

Nicely Presented. One Correction sister. In Kerala for Papad it is pronounced as Papadam . In Tamil Nadu it is called as Appalam,,
Oh yes... thank you 😊
No, pappadam is the one with bubbles and appalam is without bubbles. So pappadam & appalam are different. Alka pls note :-)
Oh is it? Didn't know that. Even I thought papadam Kerala ka hai and appalam Tamil Nadu ka. Thank you for sharing this info 😊🙏🏼
