Toland really should make a return either during Final Shape or Episode Heresy. His absence lately strikes me as a very odd choice considering how important The Witness is to Hive related lore.
"you will fear nothing, and nothing will not fear you" is such a good line It has a double meaning, you're fearless, and everything will fear you but it also means that you, will be afraid, of "nothing" and "nothing" will not be afraid of you.
Toland turned the Sea of Screams into his own personal throne world. Toland would make a great consort to Xivu Arath for his adherence to the Sword Logic.
Toland is impressive, but he doesn't have a proper throne world. he's got the equivalent of a sandbar in the ascendant plane he used to barely evade death.
Toland is pretty much 100% my favorite character just for the mystery and interesting factor. Even the cadence of his speech just gives him a whole vibe.
part of me wants to imagine that toland is alive physically in the ascendant plane, on a tiny little deserted island like a gary larsen comic, and the fuzzball is the only way he can reach out from there
Bad Juju should be made into a weapon of sorrow as well. Just makes sense if it could convert the Poison to super energy, also its the only such Pulse Rifle. We already have the Auto, Hand Cannon, Scout, SMG, GL.
I still wonder about one thing: How is the original idea of Darkness and its potential to "corrupt" and to "take" related to Stasis, Strand, the Veil, and everything else we now know about the Darkness? Consider weapons of sorrow, and/or other "corrupted" weapons, like Thorn, Bad Juju, Touch of Malice, Malfeasance, Necrochasm, Whisper of the Worm, etcetera. Knowing what we now know about the Darkness, its relationship with the Light, Darkness abilities (such as Stasis, Strand, the ability to Take, and the abilities of the Witness and their Disciples), and other kinds of "corruption" (Taken blight, Corrupted Ether, Egregore), what is the actual source of this "corruption"? In other words, if Darkness is just another force we can wield and manipulate, like the Light, why/how are these weapons being "corrupted" or, more speculatively, does the Light have the ability to "corrupt" as well as to "cleanse" (we know that Darkness has the ability to "cleanse" from the Nez-cafe)? Also, are these various kinds of "corruption", in any way related to Stasis or Strand?
Toland is speaking about the sword logic and the final shape just as the Winnower did. The Witness is not the Winnower and here with Toland we can see that there are differences.
Toland said that “Last True Shape” line to me during the ascendant challenge just a day or two ago and I wondered whether that might be another way of referring to “The Final Shape” or perhaps something else. Hmm… 🤔
Does that quote from toland about the last shape not seem like he's saying the final shape needs no preacher "the witness" it will just be, like the destiny of this all is to just reach the final shape? Seems kinda doomsday to me. Like we are all just playing to the final shape? Thoughts?
Tolland is a fool who met his demise playing around with things he was a fanboy of, but was completely ignorant about. Most of what he says now or has said recently has been lies or nonsense to throw us off. He's insanely jealous of the guardian not just for not taking oryx's throne.
Super interesting video, Evaze. I have a question about the actual audio. I'm not an audio engineer, this is not to sound harsh, but do you add effects on your voice?
Nah but my boi Toland is speaking the language of the Winnower. The Witness is not the big bad. The Gardener and the Winnower created the Universe our guardians live in.
Is it just me but if you look at the Gardener and Winnower card logo/illustration, doesn't it resemble our solar system? It has each planet even Pluto (dwarf) with Mars being the one that's interconnected... Could this show how the obstacles between the traveler and the witness? Maybe since Mars is the first planet where they encountered the traveler, it could be it's origin? I don't know what point I am trying to prove so maybe just look at this like a coincidence. If you already knew this, well kudos to you :)
Ngl, I side with toland here. We were given paracausal powers and we used it to keep a bunch of houses safe, as if we're gonna get anywhere from there.
Not so fast. The Nine is curious about the traveler. They try to align themselves with it. If they made it, they would already know everything about it instead of beating around the bushes.
Sword logic is inefficient, rational only in that it's a practical to have the most rounded and capable individual as a leader. But holding it as an absolute requirement in every circumstance is itself not seeing pure efficiency, the true strongest would be the most adaptable, not merely the most violently capable. Savathûn proves and operates by this, she exists through adaptability instead of pure strength. Even after death, many even at this point, she persists and lords over her own. To change shape in order to pass great filters, that is the highest strength.
Doesnt really fit into this topic but what if the vanguard would send every guardian to one extremely important mission. Of course it wouldn’t make any sense from the gameplay perspective but take raids for example: Rhulk and necarec (still don’t know how to spell him) are 2 very powerful beings that would have been able to change everything so why do they only send 6 instead of I dunno 2k guardians?
Toland is one of the few Guardians that are still something of a mystery to us. A faceless sometime corroborator, with seemingly the deepest understanding of the physics of this world. So much so that it crosses the border between physical and the metaphysical, ascending beyond the throne worlds to the interstice between, the Void, the Sea of Screams.
if the final shape needs no preachers or followers, than what if we as in the guardians literally kill all opposing forces as we have been doing for a good while with great succes now...wouldnt that mean we're just playing right into what that exactly is? one ruthless force that has overcome, adapted and killed all others to ensure survival.
Today we discuss Toland! His whereabouts, interaction with Guardians and outlook on The Final Shape
Toland really should make a return either during Final Shape or Episode Heresy. His absence lately strikes me as a very odd choice considering how important The Witness is to Hive related lore.
I wonder if he is the unknown disciple from “The Cave.”

Toland is one of the last remenats of Legendary old lore of Destiny

A portion of it u can’t turn the whole sea bc it’s literally Infinte plus the hive especially crota often went there
@@xXx_Regulus_xXx reminds me of Kelsier from mistborn. Mf refuses to die, even if it means surviving in a magic hot tub for the foreseeable future.

The final shape is a square.
It's a massive oblong
@@tonybee85a fucking oblong 🤣
The Final Shape is a line
Everything goes in the square hole.

this ^^
Imagine if the final shape is us the player. Like we become what is
Well im all caught up on all of the lore now, now i dont really know what to do anymore but been a great time listening to ya bud
I believe we also see Toland inside the warlords ruin dungeon just before the final boss, I wonder what he was doing there or I’m probably just crazy.
Super interesting video, Evaze. I have a question about the actual audio. I'm not an audio engineer, this is not to sound harsh, but do you add effects on your voice?
Interesting that Toland never once mentions the Veil????
Nah but my boi Toland is speaking the language of the Winnower. The Witness is not the big bad. The Gardener and the Winnower created the Universe our guardians live in.
@tonylakes3086 actually the witness is the big bad, he is the travelers ancient enemy, he controls darkness which he used to hunt the traveler
That’s because Bungie pulled the Veil out of their arse when making Lightfall
@@rayosborne8617Uh no the Veil is the darkness
@lazyvoid7107 the veil might be part of the darkness, but it isn't the darkness, and like I said the witness controls the darkness

So does this mean the nine made the traveler? Don’t the nine come from the void? So are they one and the same or the creators?
Aren't The Nine representative of the 9 planets in the Sol Solar system?
Not so fast. The Nine is curious about the traveler. They try to align themselves with it. If they made it, they would already know everything about it instead of beating around the bushes.

I like Toland, but I've always thought the voice actor was doing a really bad Jack Nicholson impersonation
Of course hes right, hes just that guy
Here’s a strange theory, is toland the actual voice of the traveler playing two sides of the war I know it’s strange but hey it’s a theory.
It’s the dateline music for me….. where is to toland

If Toland is the only ascendant ball we know of, who guides us through prophecy? One of the nine? Is it toland, but he doesn't speak?
It's toland, pretty sure
He speaks to you in the lil dusty desert encounter
I remember someone saying it was Toland years ago.

Toland has some of the best lore in the game.
Do you think it is to the pair to Rasputin lore?
@@ManuelGraphFilmsI'd say it's similar to Praedyth lore which is also some of the best in the game.

Is it me or does Toland sound a bit like Devin???
