An excellent review of the Accurascale Class 37 Jenny. I have number 37419 in Intercity livery with DCC Sound which was the last 37 in stock at Rails of Sheffield. I think it’s an excellent locomotive for detailing and haulage power. I took it to my mate’s USA layout where it pulled 40 American freight cars up a 1 in 35 gradient which has a S bend in it without any problems at speed step 5 of 128!!
Jenny, a very comprehensive review of an awesome locomotive. I think it is a fabulous value in the DCC sound fitted version. A full sound and light suite with an excellent stay-alive for £90 is remarkable. I have ordered an Accurascale Exclusive green BR version with small yellow panels, and am eagerly awaiting it’s delivery here in beautiful E. Texas, where Air Conditioning is a must!❤️🤓
Hi Jennifer, The "vents" on the cab fronts are the horns! And the one end has a missing horn grill on the fireman's side. What I found more awesome apart from the lovely locomotive was the intrepid empty 4 wheel flat tops staying on the track with such an immense trailing load! I was certain that they would have been dragged off on the first curve! But.. nay, they hung in there! Well done. Cheers from Oz Gaz
I wait with anticipation the arrival of my 37. I had one in my hand at our club meeting on Thursday evening and it looks very impressive! Sound is very good.
I got the Carl Haviland model today for fathers day. I can't wait to unbox it tomorrow (fathers day) I also have a Hornby 21 pin DCC chip to pop in too. Great abd informative video
Thanks for this comprehensive review, defo one to save up for, I will be going for the DRS early logo model, coming out soon.....if you only have one loco on you layout, then forget the rest....!
That looks like a highly detailed and well thought out locomotive with excellent sound. The stay alive appears superb too. Finally locomotives are beginning to be produced with technology commensurate with modern world we live in. The only detail fail aspect are the silver buffer shanks which should, for this style of buffer, be basically black. An irony not lost on someone who has spent many hours carefully painting OLEO buffer shanks silver! Great review.
Looks excellent! I myself have the new-tooled Bachmann Class 37 with DCC sound, and that's a stunning model - but, by the looks of it, so is this. Great review :D .
Hi Jenny. I'm surprised you didn't notice or mention the 2 missing magnets in the roof and 3 missing in the body. When I emailed Accurascale about mine I mentioned this video to prove my point.
I'm mainly a steam fan but wanted a few early diesels for my layout and so these are exactly what I've been looking for. I've got two on order for the first quarter of 2024. The first is D6956 in BR green with full yellow ends. The second is D6992 in BR blue (pre TOPS). The reviews of the first releases out so far suggest they'll be excellent.
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 37. A longer wait than some. I believe my ETA is end of August, Probably september before it reaches the golden shores of Western Aussie
A truly innovative model, especially the removable roof panel- a simple idea, why had nobody thought of it before? Also the instruction manual is far better than most others, does the model also come with a mug of strong driver's tea?!
Near the start of this video when you were reviewing this model's paperwork about the body removal and why would you want to. I agree with that comment, but you would have to take the body off to fit a driver. Accurascale, please fit a driver in your diesel models so that there is no need to remove the body of the locomotive. The model is outside of the eras I intend to make the layout for. Martin. (Thailand)🐒🐒🐒🍌
Other manufacturers take note this is how you make a model. Please Accurascale do the HYMEK next and show Heljan just how pathetic their latest incarnation of the model is.
couple of quick points, clearly this has been handled quite a lot more, and roughly, than an average modeller would, noting the missing horn grille on one end, and the micro magnets that have become un-glued from their mounting holes,, also not happy with the 'etched' plates, those supplied look flat and only two dimensional.. however, that said still got two DRS DCC sound fitted on order.
Good video 📹, interesting but does the lighting need a heap of functionality.....why?? I'm sure it's relevant but is it necessary for the average modelers?? 🤔. It's a lovely model there is no doubt but the lighting functionality. Forward, reverse, cab lights aren't enough?? Still a lovely model
I'm sure for most folks a lot of those separate functions could be grouped together and others just ignored. Still, it's great they give you the option to turn them on/off individually with a suitable chip. My 1 new loco for the year is the Accurascale Class 31 - still a few months away.......
Accurascale really are leading by example. Let’s hope some of our larger companies take note, and with Cavalex, Rapido and others also raising the bar, this pressure will intensify. Great time to be a modeller!
The more buttons the more playability. In UK we often come envious of what USA and EU customers get in their trains so why stop it now. Please Sir we want the same. standard standard

Accurascale is impressive, and hats off to them for the level of detail for the price.
I have two of these (37419 & 37423) and they are STUNNING. My favourite locos by far. Can’t wait for 31128 and 50008 in the coming months.
Love seeing the trains from Europe, so much different that here in the US :)

Still waiting for mine (green 37/0) but given your comments, I'm looking forward to finally receiving it!!
I think the Class 31 has the fans operating - but thats very much towards the end of the year for their release
I have the new Bachmann class 37,that also has the bogie chains, that itself is a stunning model

Waiting for my original Green and blue versions and from this video should be well worth the wait. Hopefully Accurascale will bring out the class 40.

Just bought 2 37/4 locos and the sound is wondeeful.
I don’t think your mic does it justice but a good video as usual.

I;m going to check out local pricing for 1 of these, but thinking atm to exchange rate might mean I need to save up to purchase one.

Don't the chains attach to the handbrake and not mount the body to the bogies?
Yes, they are handbrake chains
This particular model is already sold out! (although there are others).
Horn grills not vent grills I do believe
Wonderful trains 🙂😃

Why not? accuracy that’s not adding cost is to be encouraged
