Oh Cult Blood Red Moon, no matter how sophisticated my palate gets or how discerning of a pipe smoker I become this is the one wet and goopy aromatic I always keep coming back to. It was the first pipe tobacco I ever smoked as an adult and it's flavor will always stick in my mind as the quintessential "aromatic tobacco" taste. It may be a little light in the Vitamin N department for me to want to smoke all the time anymore, but I'll always have a jar of it in my cellar and rarely does a week go by that I don't dip into it for at least one bowl.

I keep trying pipe tobacco YT’ers but you are a keeper. Good style. A kindness you project. IMO, there are not many Aromatics which taste like they smell. Autumn Evening is one. Cult is another. What I smell is a chocolate cherry cordial. What I taste is a chocolate cherry cordial. My problem is that I think it is way way too sweet. I mean they are spot on with the tobacco and it’s one I often recommend. But I don’t care for it. When I go cherry I’d prefer the Sutliff Cherry or Lane’s cherry. But I am mightily impressed by Cult. Great video.
I wonder if you could give me some advice? I would like to try home blending my tin of Cult with another tobacco. My initial thought would be to pair it with an English. I have a tin of McConnell's Latakia Flake which I don't care for very much. On the other hand, I thought perhaps it would go best with a burley, perhaps Peretti's B-49, or a VaPer like Three Nuns, The Beast or Stratford. I am intentionally choosing blends I don't like. Any suggestions?@@hobbitonpiper

Great review Kevin, every one you do gets better and better! 👍🏼👍🏼 CBRM is one of the very few aromatics I’ve found to enjoy. I detect a subtle cherry tangy taffy at times too. It’s definitely one of the top aromatics for complexity and and that equals enjoyment especially in an aromatic.

Very well done Kevin. You are very skilled at describing the flavours. I have never tried this one however you brought back the same "tasty" childhood memories. Thank you and be well.

When you said to me to try Cult Blood Red Moon i've ordered it instandly with 4Noggins and somewere between my adres and 4Noggins the package was send back. 4Noggins told me they'd send it again right away without anny extra costs. Well, :D today i received the package with a couple of tobacco's and the two tins of Blood Red Moon and i tried it in my Peterson's pipe outside in the cold and it was a dream. The cold didn't bother me at all. This is my new number one to go to tobacco. It's not just one tone flavor. It kept me on a pink cloud until it was gone and i came back to earth. So happy you put me on the right trail. Thanks Hobbiton Piper!!!!!

Haven't tried this yet, but other people that have, describe it like smoking a cherry chocolate cordial. I will have to try it for sure. I love aromatics, and prefer Sutliff aro's. Happy piping Kevin ! 👌
Good review. I always found Cult BRM to have the flavor profile of a chocolate-cherry cordial. Too sweet for an every day, but it may have a place in rotation.
What a description. You can really deliver to the senses. As a new pipe smoker, this blend is very enjoyable. I personally feel like I want a bit more from my aromatic. Not sure what, I’ll have to explore. But if this were my only blend I would still be happy.
@@hobbitonpiper going over some “best aromatic pipe tobacco” searches on the internet. The blend that keeps popping up with CBRM is C&D Autumn Evening. I’d love to see you do a Review of that blend if you’re looking for content suggestions. I will probably be purchasing Autumn Evening this week, but I’d still come back to see your take on it.
I’ve had it and I’m not a fan of cherry in general. I love real cherries. That being said it’s the only cherry chocolatey blend I’d buy again. County fairs lol so much fun as a kid. So much fried food you feel like an oily rag 😂 corn dogs, funnel cakes, cheese fries, nachos, cotton candy and yes snowcones! Juice running down little kids elbows 🤣. Thanks for sharing man!
@@hobbitonpiper I’ll let you know what I’m getting now as I sip on this. The room note is almost like a blue cotton candy. But not as sweet. The taste is first creamy tobacco with the lightest cherry flavor. Your Twizzler description is perfect because it’s muted the way that “waxy” licorice is. And if you remember Neco wafers.. it’s the chocolate ones. Powdery. Chocolatey. Not getting vanilla much. But boy oh boy. Sooo good.
Cool Paul!! The Emerald is great :) Yes, you should pickup some CBRM! Let me know what you think of it when you get to try it. Maybe fire up a bowl and watch this vid again while u smoke it, see what u can pick out, might be fun! Let me know
Brother you are killing it man. I am watching your videos to do a profile of your channel for my Dingus Chronicles as you have been named by Flat Map Piper (Mike) as a person of interest for my GAW. Out of the reviews this one is by far my favorite, you explain so well and you call up things i forget like twizzlers lol. I recently was given a Tin of CRBM by my brother and it is amazing if it was available in bulk i would have it as my #1 above all other types and blends. I had a hard time pinning down the cherry, it is almost fizzy like a soda, one of those cheap ones called Cherry. I was having a hard time because your right it is not like a gusher or anything that sweet, totally different cherry than say Black Cherry Cav or really any of the other cherry blends. And yes the other flavors help round it out instead of hiding or being drowned out by the over sweetens of the cherry. Anyway i have rambled enough, love your style and if i was asked if there were someone in the ytpc new that i would want to smoke a pipe with it would be you. Be well.
BRM always reminds me of Shisha (Hookah Tobacco). Well, i should say Hookah Bros. Shisha; which is an American company as far as I know, and I've never had authentic Shisha. I really enjoy BRM in a cob but I find it to have almost a sour cherry flavor in a briar and I can't smoke it for too long before getting exhausted by it. I'm still on the hunt for a great cherry Tobacco but it's a slow process because I will only open one tin at a time and only care to indulge about once a fortnight. Anyhow, you are doing excellent work on your videos, sir. Keep up the good work.
Sorry I’m so late to respond, this comment was “held for review” for some reason and I just saw it! Yes I agree, this one is better in a cob to me as well!! So interesting how some blends are just better in certain pipes! :)
I was told many years ago never use a zippo to light cigars or pipes? Just wondering your thoughts. Love the site been smoking with you every night since I discovered you. 😊

I bought a tin of cult blood red moon because of this video review, and it is currently sitting in my #1 spot of pipe tobaccos. Purely wonderful room note and easy smoking. Thanks for sharing this outstanding content. I look forward to the new videos from the new location.
i haven't smoked that blend for awhile but i had a real love affair going on with it for a time. i think you described it very well. i got a kick out of remembering snow cones or as a particular business where i grew up in south east Kansas called them tropical ice. which is a bit of hyperbole but they were just as you described them except they came in a styrofoam cup so your arm didn't get so sticky. man that really brought back the memory of those hot summer nights and something better than ice cream. so sweet it'll make yer teeth hurt. not like blood red moon. take care
Awesome comment, brother, I loved reading this. Yeah changing to styrofoam cups was a smart move! That’s how I feel too about that sugary syrupy sweetness NOT being like CBRM. This aromatic is very well done in my opinion for sure :)
Excellent description!! I get exactly what you mean. I love tootsie rolls. And you are right. The cherry isn’t overpowering but the flavor is full and rich. Almost like a bridge mixture.(Canadian candy) I have a few tins of this and I’m hoping to save one and see how it is in a few years. Maybe it will mellow out and marry even more?
It’s possible, although personally I’m yet to find an aromatic that has any noticeable difference with age….let’s both try aging a tin and see tho, JS, for science of course! ;) Sounds fun!
@@hobbitonpiper well sir, this is why I’m here watching your videos. I didn’t know that aromatics don’t age well so I guess you are right. I may not talk much as my father is coming to visit but we will be tuning in and having a puff. I will be smoking Cult Embassy tomorrow for the first time.
I finally got around to trying this blend this week. It's been on my list for ages, but made a trade for it (Autumn Evening was not my jam, so I got rid of it.) I am usually not into cherry types, but this was pretty good. It wasn't cough drop sweet like some.
You nailed it with the tootsie roll, but for me I used to like the cherry tootsie roll pop lollipops and CBRM reminds me of waiting till there was just a little bit of cherry candy left and then crunching down on it and the tootsie roll center
I'd recommend CBRM to any piper to try. It's part of my regular rotation as I always enjoy it. H. Piper is correct, any time I this tobacco up, everyone asks about it and enjoys the aroma. Give it a shot. 👍👍
I ordered my first couple of tins just a few days ago. I am primarily an aromatic pipe smoker, but Cherry has been a hard one to find in a quality blend, (without the liquor or medicine after-bit). I look forward to giving it a try and appreciate your description of the flavors. Good Job.
In my opinion, Randy, this is the best cherry aromatic on the market. That being said, cherry blends may just not be for you. We will see. I do hope you enjoy it! :)
Wow wat an awesome way to review an aromatic tobacco. I dont know a lot of the sweets you talked about. But i sure now wanna try it. I can get it at 4Noggins and at Boswells pipes. Great review, I am really enjoying this blend. Could you list some of the blends you described as sugary flavor bombs weather they be cherry or otherwise? I have quite the sweet tooth and would be interested to try them. Thanks!
New pipe smoker here. Curious if you could give me some tips on how to “draw” properly without inhaling? I’ve heard it described as sucking a straw but just want to make sure I do it correctly. I have my pipe, CRBM and Lane 1Q showing up tomorrow and am looking forward to getting into pipe smoking.
Kevin, you have a gift for description, my friend. 👍 You could almost convince me to give it a try - almost. Vanilla and dark chocolate are fine, but cherry just doesn't do it for me. Your association of flavors with memories is amazing and makes your reviews so accessible and enjoyable. Good to know that it has a group gathering friendly and, perhaps more importantly, wife approved room note. Be well and stay awesome - peace
I understand people’s aversion to cherry, no worries. For those that don’t mind cherry or enjoy a cherry when it’s done right, CBRM is worth a try. I’m glad these reviews are connecting with people and that you are enjoying them, it inspires me to make more. And yes, the room note on this one is excellent so I’ve been told! :)
@@hobbitonpiper The one characteristic denied the pipe smoker is the room note of the tobacco he is smoking. For that he must depend on others (and others are usually not shy about telling him 😂either way).
Corvette Jim at CJP Pipe Rescue calls Cult Blood Red Moon pipe crack. He adores it. To me it's like eating a red magic marker. If you like it, the best one in the "Cult" family is Cult Militia. Give it a try.
I screwed up and smoked this for the first time today out of my Savinelli 673, and now I can’t get the cherry taste out of it. I smoked Autumn Evening a few hours later and all I could taste was cherry… any advice on how to fix my ghost pipe? I did give it a good clean tonight with some alcohol.
@@RegesterForDinner exorcising cherry ghosts can be quite difficult. You could ream it a bit but the primary culprit is likely the draft hole. Make sure it is super clean by using a bristle pipe cleaner followed by a fluffy pipe cleaner or two with a dab of Everclear

I’m using moonshine currently so I think we are on the same page with everclear haha Once again, thank you for the quick response, and hopefully I’ll be able to get this damn cherry flavor out of my savinelli. My review- Cult Blood Red Moon - 10/29/2023 - starts out as very mild strength and builds nicely, not bitey at all, bag notes are very nice cherry, no aftertaste, 8.5/10.
Is there a reason this particular tobacco makes me hopelessly tired 3 minutes after I smoke it? Nothing else i smoke seems to do that. Other than that I enjoy its taste.
Explain what you mean by “tired” in more detail and I’ll try to offer some insight. Since you enjoy the taste, what is it about the experience that makes you “tired”?
@@hobbitonpiper I often like some sir Walter or captain black in the early AM. That stuff seems to make me "buzzy" and contemplative. Lots of thoughts. had some blood red moon here and there lately instead. When I get through a bowl of the cult my head just feels a little light and I don't have as much motivation to do stuff. Really makes me wanna lay down. But I don't sleep, cause there is a sort of nicotine effect still running at the time. Cool jojo, I love to hear your feedback! I think if you are open to aromatics at all you’ll enjoy this one :)
Having a bowl with you listening to this review?I completely get that flavor profile now.I couldn't figure out what I was getting absolutely spot on.Love your channelove the way you present things.I enjoyed listening to you and having a bowl
Awesome! Yeah, this is by far my favorite cherry blend out there currently
Great review brother. Thank you for all the great vids!
Very welcome, John, glad you enjoyed! :)
I have been sitting on a tin of this for quite a while now, your review just bumped it up to the top of the pile! I think this will be the next tin I pop.
Awesome! Let me know what you think! If you enjoy aromatics and don’t mind cherry, I think you’ll enjoy it :)
Great video.
Thank you, brother, great to see you here!! :)
I'm a huge fan of Cult Conspiracy so I've got high hopes. That said, after watching this I tried to order some and it's out of stock from my regular source. Now I begin the hunt! Thanks for the review... keep up the great work.
If you enjoy aromatics I think this one will be worth the hunt, Randy :)
Thank you 😊
You're welcome! :)
I just received my delivery of this. My not so local brick and mortar sent them quickly. I don’t usually like cherry flavors, but this stuff is outstanding. I get a lovely chocolate note then that cherry sweetness. I’m smoking it in my MM country gentleman. Thank you for this most excellent review, Kevin. Q, how long can I leave it in the open tin? I have a feeling I will be enjoying a few bowls over the weekend.
A few weeks should be fine, just put the lid back on. When in doubt just move it to a mason jar.
Very well done Kevin. You are very skilled at describing the flavours. I have never tried this one however you brought back the same "tasty" childhood memories. Thank you and be well.
Thank you so much, brother, I really appreciate that. You’re a consistent viewer and commenter and I love that! Thanks again for being here today, hope to see you Saturday
This makes me so happy, Kitty! I hope you continue to enjoy many wonderful smokes :)
This is a great blend! I sure hope it's not discontinued. I bought 3 tins yesterday.
It’s a good one! So far so good on availability
I,'ll have to order some👍
You should! :)

I’ve been smoking Cult blood red moon today out of my shire. I just missed some of your videos, so I’m just going through and looking at some of the ones I’ve seen several times. Be blessed my friend. Hope you’re enjoying living in Arkansas. I wished I could have met you earlier, because we could’ve shared a bowl together. John.
Yes, I’m happy to be closer to family. Missouri is a wonderful state though! :)
Haven't tried this yet, but other people that have, describe it like smoking a cherry chocolate cordial. I will have to try it for sure. I love aromatics, and prefer Sutliff aro's. Happy piping Kevin ! 👌
If you love aromatics you must try this one
@@hobbitonpiper Your the Best Kevin !!!👍👍
Thanks for the review Kevin. This is when I haven’t tried. Have a great weekend!
Maybe try it if u like aros at all! :)
Good review. I always found Cult BRM to have the flavor profile of a chocolate-cherry cordial. Too sweet for an every day, but it may have a place in rotation.
Absolutely it does have that profile, Paul, great input. I also wouldn’t want it everyday, but it’s nice when I’m in the mood! :)
Excellent review! And you couldn't have picked a better shirt for the video :)
Perhaps that was intentional :)
What a description. You can really deliver to the senses.
As a new pipe smoker, this blend is very enjoyable. I personally feel like I want a bit more from my aromatic. Not sure what, I’ll have to explore. But if this were my only blend I would still be happy.
Exploring, or the “discovery phase” as I call it is so enjoyable, and it really never ends, it just evolves :)
@@DrewSorensenMusic I’ll add it to the list!
Just cracked open a 3 year old tin of this great stuff! 👍🏻
That is awesome! :)
Haha glad you enjoyed! :) Very welcome
I’m about to have another bowl of Cult brm, while I watch this video!
Awesome!! Let me know what you think afterwards :)
Sooo good.
Yeah. Room note coming off the pipe bowl reminds me so much of blue cotton candy as it’s being spun. Almost that burnt sugar, blue raspberry. Yummy
I'll add this to the list when I buy a bunch of aros again. Thanks Kevin. Hope you are well.
If you like aros at all this is worth a try, Jorge! :)
Got the Emerald a few days ago and it's a beauty! Been wanting to try this blend. Think I'll get some with my next order.
Be well.
Thank you Dingus! I really appreciate your support and am honored by your words! I should have another video up for you tomorrow afternoon! :)
New to your channel. I’ve been wanting to try Cult Red Blood Moon. Thank you the review. Watched while enjoying MacBaren 7 Seas Black. Subscribed too!
Awesome, welcome! In my opinion this is the best cherry topped blend in production today :)
Great review Hobbs I'm going to give some a whirl I saw it a few times it would never jump but you sold me
Awesome let me know what u think once u try it!
I was told many years ago never use a zippo to light cigars or pipes? Just wondering your thoughts. Love the site been smoking with you every night since I discovered you. 😊
People say that because Zippo lighter fuel has a taste that can be detecting after lighting. Here are more thoughts shared on this:

Your channel is awesome. You’re a cool dude. Like me, I’d venture a guess that you enjoy things in life at a deeper level than the average person, and I am so appreciative that you put yourself on camera being authentic. I bought a tin of cult blood red moon because of this video review, and it is currently sitting in my #1 spot of pipe tobaccos. Purely wonderful room note and easy smoking. Thanks for sharing this outstanding content. I look forward to the new videos from the new location.
Thank you so much for this encouragement! I’ll have a new video for you tomorrow! :)
i haven't smoked that blend for awhile but i had a real love affair going on with it for a time. i think you described it very well. i got a kick out of remembering snow cones or as a particular business where i grew up in south east Kansas called them tropical ice. which is a bit of hyperbole but they were just as you described them except they came in a styrofoam cup so your arm didn't get so sticky. man that really brought back the memory of those hot summer nights and something better than ice cream. so sweet it'll make yer teeth hurt. not like blood red moon. take care
Awesome comment, brother, I loved reading this. Yeah changing to styrofoam cups was a smart move! That’s how I feel too about that sugary syrupy sweetness NOT being like CBRM. This aromatic is very well done in my opinion for sure :)
Lovely review! I wonder though, is there any ghosting with this tobacco? Thank you
@@zizitripo408 absolutely
Excellent description!! I get exactly what you mean. I love tootsie rolls. And you are right. The cherry isn’t overpowering but the flavor is full and rich. Almost like a bridge mixture.(Canadian candy)
I have a few tins of this and I’m hoping to save one and see how it is in a few years.
I better store just one ☝🏻 for “science” and smoke the other one. Will hopefully see you on livestream tomorrow night!
Yeah this is an aromatic done right, which for me is difficult when incorporating cherry!
You nailed it with the tootsie roll, but for me I used to like the cherry tootsie roll pop lollipops and CBRM reminds me of waiting till there was just a little bit of cherry candy left and then crunching down on it and the tootsie roll center
Absolutely!! A phenomenal description for sure!! Thankfully the cherry here for me isn’t super sweet, which is a good thing in my book! :)
What a great description! I totally agree.
I'd recommend CBRM to any piper to try. It's part of my regular rotation as I always enjoy it. H. Piper is correct, any time I this tobacco up, everyone asks about it and enjoys the aroma. Give it a shot. 👍👍
Thanks Jim, yes, everyone loves how this smells!

My review- Cult Blood Red Moon - 10/29/2023 - starts out as very mild strength and builds nicely, not bitey at all, bag notes are very nice cherry, no aftertaste, 8.5/10.
Yeah, this is a good blend isn’t it
Is there a reason this particular tobacco makes me hopelessly tired 3 minutes after I smoke it?
Nothing else i smoke seems to do that.
Other than that I enjoy its taste.

I dip Copenhagen at work often so I don't think it's anything to do with too much nicotine. Does that help at all?
@@xXbooneman12Xx wow that’s super interesting, I’ll have to ask some of my knowledgeable piping buddies what might be causing this and get back with you!
i am looking for a very sugary sweet pipe tobacco like your saying this one is not. can you recommend one. I have a hard time getting sweet notes from pipe tobaccos. so im looking for something very sweet.
I would start with Lane Very Cherry and Captain Black Grape for the far end of that spectrum. For something more balanced but still very syrupy you could try Sutliff Molto Dolce.
Where can I buy some cult blood moon?
Any major online shop like smokingpipes will have it
Hey hobbiton, do you smoke this blend with the same pipe you use for other aromatics? The cherry flavor is so strong it ghosted one of my pipes pretty bad and I was considering having a dedicated pipe for cherry/berry blends. What are your thoughts?
I smoke it in a cob, which is a bit more resistant to ghosting…but I’d certainly dedicate a pipe to cherry blends if you enjoy those often!
Can anyone Tell me Where to find this in Europe? Im from belgium. Grtz
I’m not sure, hopefully someone here will know the answer!
