- I first saw Bruce perform on 4th March, 1982. He'd just joined Iron Maiden, and The Number of the Beast album was still to be released! It remains my favourite gig - perhaps a reason why I haven't seen Maiden since. I don't think anything will exceed this experience, in terms of concerts. I'd previously only seen Judas Priest, and so live music was a totally new and absolutely magical experience. 42 years later, though, it was a genuine joy to see him again!
Bruce is a master showman and I hope this video captures his screen presence.
The tracks in this video are from The Mandrake Project tour, recorded at the Manchester Academy on 19th May 2024.

Amazing to relive this night. Out of 20 plus Maiden shows, and the previous Bruce show in Wolverhampton, I can safely say this night in Manchester absolutely wiped the floor with every gig I've ever been to. The loudest, wildest and most electric audience I've ever been in. It was insane at the barrier, to hear the lyrics of EVERY song he played sung back at him even louder than the PA could manage was absolutely unfathomable. The future is bright for Bruce after Maiden call it a day. This gig shot down any doubt there ever was. The toppest of top form

I don't hear it live in person, on mandrake or on Senjutsu at all. Not saying you wrong but I don't know how you would hear that on a bad audio recording such as this.
I was there. Bruce actually sounded excellent. This recording doesn't sound good.

I can't help but point at the elephant in the room. I haven't read any references to it before, but you can hear cancer has taken its toll. Bruce is slurring his hissing sounds. Not a reproach, it's a miracle he's still singing.
He's a genuine trooper. I don't know how he coped with the sheer heat during the evening - and he was wearing leather and a beanie hat!
