Thanks for posting...and playing the solo first...and THEN chopping through it phrase by phrase. It allowed to pick the licks I wanted to take exactly and the others that were OK to come up with my own thing. Saved a bunch of time. Thank you.
Excellent! I like how you illustrated using C#minor pent as the relative to EMaj then moving up to 12th fret Emin pent. I couldn’t get this in listening to the recording and tryin to visualize it. Thanks
Nicely done and thank you. MANY of us DO care what each individual note is. Those that don't can easily find the lesson they want somewhere else in cyber space.
Great tutorial, thank you. The last lick was a bit quick, but between your vid, the Rock Camp tab, and listening to the song again, and again, and again, I'm getting there. A big help, thank you.
@Lamasrock1000 just set up something with a decent amount of gain. Not too much, just a nice crunch to give you sustain but with enough headroom to still be dynamic. A nice single coil pickup is a help too, to give you that southern twang. I believe I was using my mid pick up in this video, which is a noiseless Heavy Blues pickup from DiMarzio.
Well? Great... Except! The hardest part is the last phrase and you whipped right through it. Ahhhh well... Will allow it down and keep watching till I get it!
Last lick (I think) d b c sharp bu to d and then down to c sharp then b a g g sharp b e b d b maybe a then bend up to b and down to a g with vib e slide down
Nobody gives a fuck what each individual note is, dude. Nobody. Not even the Doobie Brothers, who wrote the fucking song. Likewise, nobody needs advanced theory lessons about what key the song is or about the scales. Just say what to do: what string, what fret. Soooo many RUclips guitar tutorials are just showoff goofballs who want to impress the viewer with their skills and fancy gear and aren't interested in actually teaching anybody anything.
+Captain Freedom Couldn't disagree with you more. Granted, The Doobies don't care, they created it. For anyone else trying to RE-create it, this helps. And knowing the scales also helps anyone trying to learn these things.
+Captain Freedom Geez The guy takes the time to show others how to play the tune and you gotta bash him. Living proof that Indians did have sex with buffalo ....... For MY nickel he plays it quickly and if you can't keep up you can always play it over and over if you need to. The guys that list the finger, fret and string drag it out so long that I can't watch it. Easier to play it many times than to drag it out. If you're not an already pretty experienced player you're not ready to learn this lick.....
+Captain Freedom Just as I figured. After checking out your Tube page I saw you were a gamer. Nothing wrong with that but I didn't see a damn thing that would indicate you play anything except games. No guitar, nothing. You aren't worth the sweat off a guitarist's fingers. Troll on little man.
Keith Bryant I haven't made any guitar videos yet, but I'm about to start. I am admittedly an intermediate player, but I know my shit and when I learn or teach a song, I explain it and show it so that it can be played in a brief amount of time. Both video games and guitar playing also involve fine motor coordination and you've seen what a boss I am at Call Of Duty.
Just a good example of what a guitar teacher once said to me. "It's not the quantity of notes, it's the quality!"
PEACE from Philadelphia

Good job dude. Thanks for showing the solo. Great rock tune that will never die.

Hey it's Dave!
Really well done with the exception of the last lick. It's way too fast. Can you do it again with the last lick better explained?
you can slow the the video with the settings on the bottom right. the gear icon. set speed to .75 or even .5
Nice !!..
Nice.....
how do you play the last part wth
To me it looks like it's a Fender HSS Strat, a very versatile choice.
E Major Penatonic to E Minor Penatonic Scales.. ?
Got peoples' dogs-a-howlin' on this one....
WTF, i didnt ever thought you could change pentatonics, thats cool!
Last lick (I think)
d b c sharp bu to d and then down to c sharp then b
a g g sharp b e b d b maybe
a then bend up to b and down to a g with vib
e slide down
1:50
Butchered the lead - sorry man, but you left out all the nuance notes...
Sounds like you got it all figured out and don’t need to be watching this video!
THERE ARE 2 GUITARS UTILIZED ON ORIGINAL CUT

Captain Freedom Agree! This is just bollocks. Any fucker can play this or something like it. It's a fucking solo! Express YOURSELF!!!!!

Simply awful last lick - far far far too quick - the rest was excellent -
