This video reminds me of that episode of Star Trek The Next Generation where Q gives Data the ability to experience emotions for thirty seconds and he starts laughing
The way he stops, looks over, then throws his head back is exactly the same. He's referencing Star Trek even as he's going insane. Gotta admire that dedication.
It's like that moment in Bride of Chucky when Chucky's reflecting on being a possessed killer doll and he says "life sure is funny sometimes" and then John Ritter pops up with a face full of nails.
I didn't realize that but it's true. First he looks at Josh, then he starts laughing silently; then looks at Josh again and completely fucking loses it.
That's when he looked and realized the room's complete slackjawed reaction to the incomprehensible. People who don't know what they're doing, mumbling to people in the future who have no idea what they are saying. Why are any of us doing any of this?!? LOL
Not only is Mike's breakdown itself hilarious, but Rich, the guy who usually laughs first, following it up with a dry, almost disgusted sounding remark really sells it.
I think the real reason Mike started laughing is that he realized he ended up in a place where he forced three grown men right before Christmas to watch some awkward weird movies with him, while Josh is saying "what?" and Jay says "Oh God". Then Mike looks at dead stare of Rich Evans sitting next to him with stick candy in his hand, and at the same time there is Christmas music playing in the background. I would explode with laughter too. I think Mike didn't want to tell them why he really reacted this way because it would take too long to explain, or he thought it would be funnier to say he went insane.
yeah he wasnt laughing at the movie he was laughing at everyone in the room simpsons jokes aside you can genuinely see the exact moment he cracks after the "what?" from josh
That final look Mike takes, where he just confirms he's the most broken person in that room before he goes full Heath Ledger. Man... it hits me right in the feels.
What's amazing is that Mike was the first one to "break" during a Best of the Worst. Jack and Rich have freaked out, but no one has truly lost it like Mike did here.
This happened to me and a bud when we saw The Jungle Book a few years back. As soon as we heard Christopher Walken's voice come out of King Louie, we both just lost it.
It's like when I got high for the first time. Suddenly everything seemed like a joke, and I couldn't stop laughing and giggling. Even when people were acting seriously it just made me laugh even more.
Its like the adult version of the giggles, only instead of the feedback effect of your sibling or friend, its like your subconscious tapped into some understanding of reality and had no other way to react.
The best RLM moments all involve people crying uncontrollably with laughter. Mike was thinking what the hell am I doing watching the worst movies ever made all the time. You can't even understand the dialogue of the movie and it sounds like its filmed in a tunnel. It was either walk off and get angry at what his life has become or sit there and laugh at himself like a madman
