Before retailers decided they needed to extend their sales for Christmas into October or even before, the seasonal surge was looked forward to with great excitement. Usually at or around Thanksgiving, you’d see a wreath or something similar. Then all the stops would be pulled out, and store windows would be filled with everything every member of the family wanted. Window shopping was a real thing. But it was the anticipation of each season that was exciting, and the time to take in the sights and sounds of each one so it was savored and enjoyed. This was the same feeling when holiday favorites like The Grinch and Rudolf were played on TV. They were generally showed once, no DVD’s, no ability to record. Kids waited all week for those Christmas shows, were excited and eager to see them, and marked the holidays with each showing. It was simple, happy and easy. Certainly had it all over what we’ve done to the holidays now.
lol, Christmas wizards. I think they are supposed to be Tomten, it’s like a Swedish gnome that takes care of farm animals at night. My Swedish grandma used to read me a story about them. Thanks for the video, very helpful to see before trying to trek out to the store!
I've always wished that Christmas lasted longer 😊 our Christmas starts when I make the cake in late September followed by gift shopping in early November. The decorations go up inside the house in early December and we get the tree around the 17 Dec so that it lasts well for the rest of the month. Once the tree is decorated the wreath goes onto the door and the lights go up on the now leaf free tree in the front garden. 🎉
Like those doormats. We used to live close to Ikea and just moved into a flat with no furniture. Loved our Ikea Christmas tree and plain baubles and the big paper star.
Amazing! Can’t wait to go get some treasures! Ikea is far from my house so I have to make a full day trip, so videos like this are so, so helpful. Thank you!
Wow, I hope we get the same assortment in America!! So many beautiful things for decorating! I wish you would have gone more slowly in showing the items. I got a little dizzy trying to keep up. Thanks for showing us all of the things available!
I love the large poinsettia, it looks real. Those gonks are great. I craft and can't make them as cheap as that. Love their range of napkins and wrapping paper. Online for me at the weekend. TFS x
I’m so excited for this collection…..it’s just so beautiful. I just adore Christmas…..so this collection with all of its beautiful colours is just fantastic 🎅
It's late September and my Walmart already has Christmas crap up for sale as of 2 weeks ago. If it were up to them we'd have Christmas in February and buy decorations and presents the whole year. The only break we'd have would be January because Christmas in January would just be crazy, right.
@kirstygriffiths749 when I decorate for Halloween, it goes up October 1st and comes down November 1st. Thanksgiving goes up November 2nd and comes down December 1st. And Christmas goes up December 1st and comes down January 1st(unless the ground is frozen. If the ground is frozen solid everything stays until it thaws. I've had Christmas decorations stuck in the ground as late as February, but the whole time, I was contemplating grabbing a shovel to dig them out.)
@@kirstygriffiths749the tree up 1st December but the organisation needs to be much earlier than that. I am not fine with Christmas shopping on the Christmas Eve 😂
I wonder if they will have these items in the US and if they do I wonder when they will be available....a lot of nice things and I would love to be able to get some of those....
Thank you SO much. I really love IKEA but live quite a distance from one so shop online. Even though the prices were in £ it’s a quick mental conversion to $. I’m doing my order while watching!!!! Yes, I’ve subscribed. Ann from Newcastle Australia 🇦🇺
I’m with you on that. I bought a few bits, then put away for December. It used to be a huge part of my life, especially when I bought Christmas in January/ February for later in the year 🤦🏻♀️
Does Exeter have the Christmas stuff yet please? Although it’s early I have to shop early as I leave pressies when I visit family living 500 miles away. Otherwise postage is phenomenal.
Thank you. I just tried calling and the main office who were unable to confirm and said they were unable to put me through to Exeter. As the Exeter IKEA is over an hour’s drive away I would be grateful if anyone in that area could confirm please ❤
@kirstygriffiths749 yeah, I get it. Do you mind telling me the name of the video? And maybe your personal opinion on their big Christmas trees (the 180 cm one)? Cause I'm absolutely stuck. All my life we've been buying real trees but this year in the new rent apartment the landlord said no to real trees, only artificial ones. But the prices... I cannot really afford the decent expensive artificial tree this year. And thought about IKEA. But our local shop is really far from me (in a neighbor city), so I considered ordering online. I'm scared it would look bald.

Love the IKEA Christmas shop. Going this week. Not so sure if I like the designs this year though. Other years have been better I think.
