RW Johnson is always interesting to listen to. I hope he comes on more regularly.
@@northoftheequator2094
He’s interesting and well informed, the voice of reason 😊
Pappas would make sense...very intelligent and have the soft skills to navigate the polarized groups of our society 👏
Having Town regional planner qualifications is great benefit in making decisions related to city economy.
🤔👍
Totally agree...he wraps everyone around his finger❤
I really like Chris Pappas. I listened to an impassioned speech of his in Zulu, great guy!
Streets ahead of Steenhuisen…
KZN voters rejected him spectacularly despite all the media hype on him prior 29 May
@@biko8229 The people of Umgeni love him.
He's still very young and needs more exposure.
EFF went from 9.96% in 2019 to 2.56% in 2024.
KZN voters rejected them even more.
The DA younger generation need to replace the old farts.
Steenhuizen has consistently shown very poor judgement. Definitely hasn’t covered himself in glory
Brink could be good national leader
Brink is good but he has not shown the soft skills of building consensus amongst polarized groups.
@@selvinlouw
True!
What about Chris Pappas? I listened to an impassioned speech in Zulu and was blown away 😊
Steenhuizen is B team material. Much better candidates DA could field.
Totally agree!
Chris Pappas is streets ahead of Steenhuisen…
Agreed. How did they elect him as their leader ahead of Dr Phalatse?
@@biko8229 How did they elect Malema as leader ?
Oh wait - they didn't.
Great interview 🤙
Steenhuizen is not delivering enough to stay in the job in my opinion. I'm very disappointed.
I didn’t vote DA this time round because I just can’t see Steenhuisen as a party leader.
The DA has to come up with a charismatic leader or they’re done.
Renaldo Gouws and Roman Cabanac….
The DA just has to do better.
Charisma does it for the masses who cannot make a good decision if their lives depended on it
Maybe Chris Pappas?
I listened to an impassioned speech of his in Zulu and was blown away.
Steenhuisen is like a cardboard cutout, likely to be blown over 😊
@@AndrewMcFarlane_1
Thing is, it’s the masses that need to be moved. Moved to vote. Don’t forget that 60% of eligible voters didn’t bother to vote.
41 million eligible voters and 16 million voted. We need the 25 million to make a difference.
84% of South Africans didn’t vote for the ANC…
You vote based on whether you "like" a candidate? Democracy is wasted on you.
Iheeee ngahlekisa okwebhova😅😅
Zyakhala manjena😂
I'm looking forward to this discussion
I disagree with this sentiment. The DA has always been too appeasing which gets them nowhere. All the DA has to do is prove, which they are doing, that they can govern better. But this rhetoric only fuels the anti-DA sentiment.
The DA has been governing better in the Western Cape in 2009. Its 2024. They need new leadership.
Zille complains about all the votes for small parties but her and Steenhuisen are the reasons for the DA breakaways.
Not the first time RW has attacked Steenhuisen btw
RW Johnson comments with regards to Israel make Alex Hogg seem a sensible guy
Steenhuizen was hoping to get to be pally pally with Squirrell and rub shoulders with the big knobs instead to knuckelling down and sorting out his portfolio. Great talkers spins the story but his leadership is flat.
Any calls for Steenhuisen's resignation?
Only when you put your hand up
@@AndrewMcFarlane_1 I was thinking, seeing his name was mentioned, that Athol Trollip could be invited back for the position he should have taken years ago.
@@richardhstephenson while I like Athol, I think he is not a good fit for the DA. Trying to be as impartial as possible, I think the DA is the least 'big personality 'party and Athol running away from the DA meant he wanted to be bigger than the structure or organisation. Yes, people talk about Helen and John but if I listen to them directly, I don't get the sense they feel the party belongs to them but that they are part of the organization
All fine with the Israeli Iranian situation, but what will happen when Trump become president again? I think then Israel might have some serious backing.
Still think it's disrespectful. They should just leave it all together and let the rest of the world compete if they think their all to good. All other Club competitions also takes place right before the internationals. They're just snobby.
R. W Johnson has never liked John Steenhuizen. I don't value his comments.
@@rosehunter5140
I’m with R W Johnson on this one. Any man who describes a woman he once loved, who is the mother of his children, as “roadkill” or a “flat chicken”, is not worthy of my vote.
Personality problems aside, he is just not in the same league as Helen Suzman, Colin Eglin, Van Zyl Slabbert, Tony Leon and Helen Zille.

John Deere is well read compared to most politicians with more than 1 degree. He also walks better on eggs.
It seems that its expected of him to be the ultimate compliant, till when? Till they are on the road of the Np?
It's a curious point about the "Indian land bridge" as the trigger that promoted Iranian proxy Hamas to attack Israel, yet no mention of Iran's subsequent admission to BRICS nor their military connection with Russia and the war in Ukraine.
You raise very important points. Will people like Steenhuisen attend the BRICS+ summit in Russia this year?
Maybe Steenhuizen should not have a ministry. He has lots to do anyway. Plus he is a bit tone deaf. His appointment of Cabernac was mad.
He’s not leader material…
U can only be a leader thru Merit, and by leading by Example... just in comparison just because she has a nice dress and a nice smile, doesn't mean that she nice at all. In other words they are nice from far but far from nice...There is no one in party in South Africa who is capable of following up on their own meritious behaviour, as they are always shooting themselves in the foot thru some debacle or thru other ways of underhandedness and corrupt ways...
What about Gwarube
Elaborate
This old man and all that share his thinking must be crazy to expect Mashaba to remain a sitting duck in the face of DA backstabbing tactics. I can swear my last cent Helen Zille would never do such a thing!
Do you need a grief counselor? You seem victim minded and racially emotional 🤣
O F R O rw
He is condoning Israel &their bombing.
He think Isreal is remarkable.
What is the DA worth for me and my future if I look at what has happened to this country over the past 30 years? Why should I vote for them if for the past 30 years they couldn't stop the total decay of this country?
Duh ??
Is there something wrong with you
What a load of nonsense!
@@markwinter7511 ''Duh ??'' Brilliant answer I must say, I think your knowledge of SA politics are indisputable. Are you perhaps a teacher in a home country school?
You’re holding the DA responsible for the decay over the past 30 years of ANC rule? 🤣
Alec you hate John so it must be nice to skinner with someone new👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Especially since Herman has lost his marbles and Gayton is Gayton is leopard crawling into celebration photos. Alec stop being a knob and talk directly to John and if you still want to pretend you are hip get someone else to 🤷🏽♂️ #journalism
Mate, this is massive cope. John is without doubt one of the most politically inept people in South African Politics.
@@michaelgilewicz5918
He’s just doesn’t have what it takes to lead the DA
John led the DA to a stable result in the last election. Most of the other leaders lost strength. The ANC, ASA, EFF..none of those leaders have resigned. Why should John resign?
@@rosehunter5140
It was the DA as a party that got 22% of the vote. I would go so far as to say that this was achieved in spite of and not because of John Steenhuisen.
@@rosehunter5140
Generally speaking, I would say that the success of the DP/Progs/DA has been the result of its outstanding leaders. Helen Suzman, Colin Eglin, Van Zyl Slabbert, Tony Leon and Helen Zille were all just as popular as the party they represented.
This is certainly not true of John Steenhuisen.
He rode in on the coattails of the great leaders who came before him.
Why are people surprised Steenhuisen is employing matriculants to lead the dept of agriculture, after all he is semi-literate himself😂😂🤣
This snobbery around education is just silly. John comes across as extremely competent. The fact that you have gone to university does not make you smart or logical, and this comes from someone who did go to university.
"Identity is a False Friend.". As there is no one in the World who is of a singular ethnicity or race. Besides "Race and Nationality." Is irrelevant. As there can be no such thing as an African American U are either African or U are an American U cannot be both as this this Historically Incorrect. In others U cannot be more than what U are...we are all unique just as others are unique in themselves, this is the only way we can learn from each other...Live and Let Live. But because of Politicians and Religious fanatism this is not to be, they cannot help but to interfere in one's lives... Only because the World is a Hodgepodge collection of Ethnicities and Peoples. Who have migrated over millions of years thru the upheaval of wars, warlords, kings, queens, politicians and priests are where we are today. Besides Cleopatra never claimed to be an Egyptian although she SHARED the Egyptian culture for 25 to 30years and her Denasty lasted 300years. Not everyone as thought can be a president or priminster or mayor... etc. As we are not the same and we can never be equal as mentioned we are all unique, but not the same....take the Middle East for example... because of their Religious dogmas and Cultures...U cannot live up to the present if U can't or don't want respect your present day, and SHARE your circumstances with your fellow men...Cos, by living in the past U want keep living in past and at same time want be classed as being equal in a modern day present society... Impossible. 😮. This is impossible as we now can see what is happening in the World today...the mentality has to change and we all have to learn to grow up and stand on our two feet, Politics and Religion won't help U. As for the Wokeist and Leftists who want U to cut yourselves up into quarters halves and three quarters just to please them... Ain't gonna work.😢. Taking a page out Cleopatra's rule where she never claimed to be an Egyptian, but SHARED it's culture and not trying to change it to suit herself.. We can also see as trying to be equal by comparison is definitely problematic as in the countries with the refugees. Problems in Sweden, U.K. Germany, actually the whole of Europe is suffering because of this. Besides Cancel Cultures of the World is Dress Rehearsals for Mass Murder... We saw this in Bosnia, Rwanda, Sudan and at present day Ukraine...etc.... As mentioned living by Comparison is problematic. Just because U don't look like Cleopatra doesn't mean U not Egyptian...😊😊😂...✌️🍷
