  • Overview of porting QMK to your RP2040 based mechanical keyboard. The example is with the mini42, a low profile Corne (CRKBD) inspired keyboard using Kailh chocolate (PG1350) switches. It has serial split communication, dual OLED, per key LEDs and underglow, and serial communication between the halves. The video also discusses Via and Vial support as well as how to support your keyboard in the QMK Configurator. Questions? Join us on Discord: / discord

You're such a lifesaver. I built split keyboards before info.json was a thing and I couldn't really wrap my head around this new way of doing things, also never used rp2040 before, I only ever touched 32u4 chips, thank you so much you gave me the confidence to buy the microcontrollers and commit to building a new split for myself. Cheers.

Your split mini42 has such a clean and polished design!, I really like it. May I ask if your rgb matrix code works with corne v3, or did you completely remap the rgb wiring in your design?

It is a new design that has a similar layout to Corne. It uses an RP2040 processor and a direct scan matrix (diode-less). The code is in the main QMK repo here github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/controllerworks

@@controllerworkswhat are the advantages with direct scan over the matrix? Diodes arent that expensive or difficult to work with in the overall keyboard.

@@sevurueva5138 It will have a slightly faster response time but most of the latency comes from the polling rate of USB HID. Removing the diodes makes the design a little more reliable because you have fewer components to fail and we can slightly reduce the cost, mainly by reducing the labor for assembly and testing.

Would love to get a metal body for my gergoplex. Always wanted it to look like an apple smart keyboard being low profile but split

Great work! I love it that someone now „mass produces“ a cornish zen like keyboard which is not available regulary.

Nice sharing friend! Don't know if you are interested in designing your own keyboards? If so, would love to sponsor some free services and having a cooperation together! (PCBWay)
