Thanks for watching. If you watch the restoration of the standard M1 liner it covers the rest of the process. Restoring the liner webbing is the same process.
I have a plan to do one and I am gathering the correct parts. I have a Korean War era M1 liner that will make a great candidate. All I need is time and money! LOL the story of my life.
@@FreeAmericaChannel same here I have about 60 WW2/korea liners I've picked in in singles or lots over the years that need rewebbing, better to DIY than over pay from online restored venders!🙄 Jman
@@FreeAmericaChannel Not exactly, I purchased a used M1 and it seems the fiberglass liner isn't meant for this particular pot or vice versa as it will not stay fixed inside the shell. I'll have to do further research but if friction is the sole means to anchor the insert then something is wrong or mismatched with my particular helmet. Thanks though
@@Jason-oi7je I see. It is not uncommon for the fit to be a little loose. It is possible that you have a European made helmet shell or liner that is not made to the same US specs. Have you tried using a helmet cover or helmet net sandwiched between the shell and liner? That may increase the tension enough to keep the liner more secure. You may also bend the chinstrap bales inward to provide some stability to the liner.
I'd like to see full restoration of this liner , awesome video

How is the insert secured to the steel pot?
The snaps on the chin straps that are attached to the steel pot snap into the liner under the "A" frames. Is that what you were asking?
