Good call on the baton fix in the light and congrats on the win.
We had a similar issue once and did nothing about it and got caught in a squall and before we could reef, the baton blew through the luff by about .5M and because of it we could not drop the main because it was catching on a spreader.
By the time I got up the mast (40+ knots) with a hack saw to cut it, most of that new 3DL was toast.

Good story! I believe it was hell! I learned the same lesson during the recent delivery but we were able to put in the 1st reef though. But we could not put in the 2nd reef if we would have needed it.
