Perfect...! - Great job on restoring that wonderful piece. Yes,..a few things were definitely wrong with it from the last person who was in there..but you made it right and its working like a charm... Kudos. !!
Thank you Thomas
Nicely done. Beautifull watch. The moisture almost spoiled it.
Yes it did but it is running great again for many years
I know the hands came beaten up on this watch but would you still use the same removal procedure if they're pristine? my concern is sometimes they rub on each other and the hour marker, leaving marks quite visible to the naked eye.
I use as well leverage hands
Wow, no matter what people say the quality of Rolex is pretty high!
Very robust
Great work, we need people like you do it right when others are doing it wrong!
Thank you 😉
Perfect and great work. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Cheers Bruce
How do you adjust beat error on this movement? Do you adjust rate and error with the balance weights?
The beat error is adjusted with the pallet on the balance top. The rate is with a special tool for the screw
Amazing!👍🏼
Thanks
A master class in abused watch recovery!😮😮😮😮
For sure this one was abused
Wow I didn’t know Georges Saint-Pierre was a watch maker 😂
GSP is certainly a multi talented individual.
When I listen to the French and Russians speaking English, I always have a good laugh. Charming accent. No offence. 😄 By the way, congratulations, you've done a great job.
Thanks! 😃
this was a great great video! you did such a good job a watch that deserved it. very satisfying to see the timegrapher.
Thank you 🙏
When rotating the movement in order to remove it from the case, doesn't that scratch the outer part of the dial? I know that's how it's done but seems it could damage the finish on the dial.
No it doesn’t damage the dial. It is the only way you can do it on a Rolex
Great job. I hate repairing things that someone else worked on and got wrong (happened to me too many times), but you did well with this one. Well done !
Yes it is frustrating but rewarding at the same time when everything is fixed and the watch run nicely again
How often should a watch like this be serviced? What kind of cost?🤔🤔🤔
Depending how much you wear your watch. Would say between 6 to 10 years
I am always shocked how a master knows where all goes back in a movement.
Great job on your channel and I love looking at your site .
Thank you so much. When you understand how it works it is much easier to understand how it goes back together.
You are not giving yourself enough credit
You are one of the masterful patient watch builders that it takes to do this beautiful job
Bring wonderful vintage watches back from the dead
@@gordiefrench5342 Thank you so much
Question for you has come up today
Received a sellita sw200 movement from a swiss seller
It was listed as new but the stem will do nothing . Balance will not start .
I removed the stem to put in my case and now will not wind or I can not pull it out to set date or time
@@gordiefrench5342 you definitely have something wrong in the keyless work. Maybe the yoke spring or setting lever spring is out or broken
I’d love to own a Submariner like this but they’re too pricey for me. I’ll keep my 1976 Seiko 6105-8119 I bought back in the day when I was in USAF.
Seiko are great too
@@FrenchWatchCollector The poor man’s Rolex. I wore my Willard daily for 15 years until it was so scratched up you couldn’t see what time it was and put it in the back of my sock drawer. Then I bought another Seiko and did the same thing. Then about 4 years ago I was watching Wrist Watch Revival on RUclips and he was working on an old Seiko Divers watch, and dam if it didn’t look like mine. I went and dug around my drawer and there it was the same exact model. That got me motivated to get it restored so I sent it to Seiko in New Jersey. When they got it I received an e-mail saying they could do the work but didn’t have a crystal for it as it was an out of production model. Dam! So I had them send it back untouched. I ended up sending it to a watch repair place in California and they did the work. Now I wear my old friend every once in a while, don’t want it to get beat up. My daily watch is an Apple Watch Ultra,it motivates me to get more exercise and gives good time, but it’s not as classy as my old 6105.
Hi, I own Rolex Submarine, I haven't trouble with Blue Cibachrome ceramic bezel, is stuck, in 30years I own the watch, I used 150 times. any idea can I fix my self?
I don’t really understand what is the problem
@@FrenchWatchCollector It doesn't rotate.
The faded insert is not visible if diving. Should be replaced
Not sure which insert you mean
agreed sir. black and gold make such a wicked combination.
Yes so nice
You have the best image imaginable and yet you place the parts far off target. Why? The result is great, but it makes me nervous to look at your work.🧐 Sorry.
Not sure what you mean
@@FrenchWatchCollector The video images are of very good quality, but placing the parts is difficult. I guess it wasn't your day...
as always, great work !! (and always such a feeling of a strong tension when you work on such movements ... god bless seiko & seagull 🤣)
- just a question 31:00 : how can you be "sure" that, when you buy a balance, it's a legit one and not a "fake / clone" (call it as you want) for non rolex certified professional ... or worse, a hobbyist ? 🤔
even on movements ~300 euros (e.g. a citizen 8110a) , there is a risk ... so on such movements / watches 🤐
The Rolex parts come always in a very particular package with special seals
👏🙏🕊️🇫🇷🇪🇺
My only issue with this service: that crystal is subpar. The magnifier is not up to Rolex standards.
Lovely work my friend 👍👍👍👍
Thank you
Ooh un francais qui restore/ service des montres, c'est rare, tres bonne video, il me rappelle wristwatch restauration
Merci Dominique
Nice job on this watch. I like the jeweled support for the date wheel to reduce friction. Date changes rob a lot of power from the movement. Mechanical watches near the end of their power reserve often stop at about midnight during a date change because it takes extra effort to change the date.
Yes it is true. Like most complications it drains more power form the caliber
@@FrenchWatchCollector 😳😳❗️ wow....
Very good job. I have never seen a watch with perfect time until today.
I am sure there is other watches with perfect time 😉
What is the material called that you are cleaning the pivots of the wheels with? Eflex? Cant't find anything about it. Thank you
It is Eve Flex

Thank you Mike

Thanks, will do!
Great watch ! and a nice video ! Sorry to ask again , I'm still looking that pin polisher can you help with the precise name and from where did you bought that? At boleys they have Eveflex , or a code product , thank you ! Good job!
Yes it is eveflex
@@FrenchWatchCollector Thanks for quick response , from where can I buy it , I bought from boley but it's too hard! a code product ? thank you for help!

Thanks for watching
Soooo cool! awesome job, please keep more videos coming
Thank you
👏👍👌! Well done restoration and filmed well.
Thank you rob
I've owned Rolex for 20 years. Worst brand I've ever owned. Service after service each time is about $500 and never gets anywhere near the accuracy of my G-Shock which needs NO service and no battery change because it is solar. Anyways you get the idea. Rolex is a good brand but watch quality is not good at all.
For sure thé accuracy of a G-Shock will be better but it is like if you compare a Porsche and a Tesla. Not the same thing at all so difficult to compare
Noob, if you want precise accuracy, no mechanical watch can make you happy. You're right, a quartz or digital is exactly what you need. Perhaps GS's spring drive, which is a hybrid movement. Someone with your expectation of accuracy has no business buying a mechanical watch, because even a precise master chronometer deviates daily.
Thus can’t be a serious comment 🤦🏻
Great video, however I do have one comment, why have you not tested for water resistance?
❤ thx
i wish can buy a rolex submariner one day........
🤞
Love this video. Quaso
Thank you
