    I hope physical media never dies out, it's so impressive seeing all of a franchise on disc (albeit split between DVD and Bluray, but whatever) be it movies, or TV shows like Star Trek, it's always good to see big collections.

      Most definitely. I love looking at the shelf knowing that everything is there and there aren’t gaps. Cant say that for a lot of franchises

      @@nilesclifford9704 It came close but Chris Pine and the cast wanted more money, Paramount tried to get them to take a pay cut so it never happened.
      As for a brand new crew, would be a great risk and would have to be a solid script.

    That said I am happy with the 3 seasons of ORIGINAL STAR TREK ✝️, the animated season of ST from the 70s ✝️,, the 7 seasons of STAR TREK NEXT GENERATION 🔘, the 6 films of ORIGINAL STAR TREK ✝️, and the 4 films of NEXT GENERATION 🔘.

    Does Star Trek on Netflix have the original effects or these updated effects? I have been watching it, but I didn't know the episodes were altered later on.

    • @Soundout12
      @Soundout12  9 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure since Netflix in my country doesn’t have Star Trek anymore. I think its the updated effects. Best recommendation is checking TrekCore’s galleries since they have screen shot comparisons between original and updated

    If you want the original CAGE from TOS, you have to get the origins set. Also, I recently got ST VI that came with both the theatrical edition and the extended cut. The sad thing is the extended cut is only on the 4k disc in the set which I cannot play lol

    I have those original clamshell sets, they are the OG SET and can not be replaced (to a true fan) I would never trade them for some newer set. True fans appreciate the original legit copies. Upgrading to bluray for instance is one thing for watching purposes but the new way of boxing is actually so easily damaged, personally i don't like these mega plastic boxes with toggled disks. I'd be afraid to use them as they have so many ways to break. But that's just the opinion of a serious trekker/trekkie. 😉

    I own every version of the original Star Trek series including the digital streaming versions, and I actually like the original dvd set, (1) It actually does look clean and the colors are vibrant, and most importantly, the opening title credit sequence has superior vocal audio, Strangely all of the versions that came after, with the remastered digital effects, including the blue Ray version has muffled vocal audio in the opening title sequence, Almost as if Captain Kirk’s voice is distant & faint, and this annoyance has always baffled me!🤔But of course I’m a huge fan of the series, and enjoy watching all versions.

    • @Soundout12

      The audio change was weird and I can’t remember offhand the reason for it

    Just trying to keep it friendly. Didn’t TNG also had individual seasons released as well on BD? Same thing with the DVD for Voyager and DS9 and Enterprise? And in addition wasn’t at one time they also released themed sets like for the Borgs and another for Time Travel and even one on all of the best Captain’s episodes for each show from TOS to Enterprise titled ‘Captain’s Log’ or something like that? In any case each theme set had episodes from each Star Trek Series based on that set’s theme.

    Yeah, it was too bad that Deep Space Nine-Enterprise didn't receive the proper HD remaster. It would be a perfect waste of film dailies/negatives, if they aren't used at all.

    • @Soundout12
      @Soundout12  2 года назад +3

      Its a shame that the proper remaster would cause it to be too costly for Paramount to want to invest in

      @@Soundout12 Yeah, the proper HD remaster would be too costly, especially for the show like Star Trek Deep Space Nine, since it has big episode count, on top of each episode being approximatly 1 hour long.

    • @Soundout12

    I just really wish it was more affordable. The pricing is still really high. Just bought the TNG DVD set just because the blu ray set hasn’t really dropped in price in years. Absolutely insane. Discovery definitely improved after the 1st season, still feel like season 2 was the best. Strange New Worlds is amazing and so was that last season of Picard

    • @Soundout12
      @Soundout12  10 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed. The one problem with Trek home video dating back to the VHS days is the pricing

    • @fgdj2000
      @fgdj2000 9 месяцев назад

      Then again relatively the pricing has gone down. Back in 2012 the Remastered blu Ray sets cost about 60€ each (70 in the shiny German Steelbooks), but a decade earlier, I remember paying as much as 120€ for the first season on DVD unremastered, only 1h of special features. The price for later seasons went down to 99€ per season. If you factor in inflation, today's prizes are a steal by comparison.
