What made him special was his ability to handle the rock, pass and make the right play. At times he looked more like a point guard. He didn't rush the game (pierce). He was smooth (Allan Houston). He was the cornerstone in what we see today... bigger guards playing on the ball using their shifty change of speed to get to the right spots. Roy changed the idea of the prototype shooting guards to a more fluid position in what we see in Harden, P.G. Luka Booker, etc...

There was a reason this guy was the highest paid player in the league for several years, even while he was out injured indefinitely moving teams he was the highest paid player. It's because he was that good when healthy.

Wow. Him, Oden, and Aldridge were supposed to the the trio...god damn injuries. I'm glad he got to lead that comeback versus the Mavs in the 2011 playoffs. He looked like his old self for a brief time.

Brandon Roy could do it all. Could score the 3, had a deadly mid-range, could post-up, drive the basket and finish. Shoot fadeaways, catch and shoot, shoot off the dribble, shoot off the screen. Amazing.

What sets him apart is his ability to do everything with his left that he can do with his right (ambidextrous) . Along with shooting, athleticism, and great passing vision.. easily one of the hardest guys to guard in nba history, but he was missing the most important factor of them all.. health , if only he had good knees. Same with oden

Big strong guard that can shoot with a quick first step, match up nightmare. He could legit muscle guys in the paint, he was a beast. I was young when he played so I couldn't tell how strong he was, he made most guys look seem weak lol. He was tough

Him & Dame were a perfect fit man. I was younger then, but looking up the story of why he retired actually hurts. I knew he had a shaky knee situation but I thought it was fixable. He never really had a chance at a long career smh. I’m glad he played as hard as he did because if you watched him during this time there’s no way you were not entertained.
