I’m not so sure it was the CP3 that failed. I’d be willing to bet it was the FCA or the Fuel Control Actuator located where the plug is on the CP3 itself. They are known to fail. And unless you have half a million miles on the engine or run extremely dirty fuel and don’t change your filters, those CP3’s are not usually prone to fail.
It is the weirdest thing. It's almost like the shaft end snapped. I spin it at the end of the video and go over it a bit. I think it's the -20c cold start that did it in. Canadian climate is hard on everything
I have a 2003 bluebird school bus with a 5.9 Cummins diesel. While driving it started shaking and then it didn’t want to run over 10 miles per hour. Scanner code is P0233 and P0251. Fuel pump secondary circuit intermittent. And Injection pump fuel metering control. Can that be the CP3 pum, or the fuel regulator. Please help.
I dont know how that coolant bypass would perform for canadian weather, especially in the winter, and considering I tow so heavy. What exactly is it bypassing?
All I can tell you is on hard long heavy pulls in the mountains of the west, My pyro. from back 3 cylinders get hotter and hotter than the front three. And now they don't. and the overall temps. have come down a little. So for me it works. And the fleece guy says, THAT is what it is supposed to do. @@TehArtfulDodger
I had the p0254 code my truck starts for 10 seconds only and I have a message on the screen for service electronic throttle control , I’m thinking 🤔 in replace the cp3
Just changed out my cp3 pump, Do I need to prim the line? Got a new fleece lift performance pump and fleece combo fuel filter and water separator. Engine starts for about one minute and if I accelerate it a bit, it shuts down. Please help.
Having problem with my 05 5.9. Had a snap on scanner on it while driving. Under slow even accel. seems ok to a point. If you accel harder or put load on engine rail prwessure will drop to 4k psi then spike to 24000 when shifting. Seems like it will build pressure but no volume. WDYT, I'm thinking CP3.
So my lift pump took a shit so I changed it, now I’m barely getting drips out of the high pressure line, but I’m getting all the fluid shooting in from filter housing out the return line.. cp3 still good? Or what’s my issue
My hpfp gets fuel from the lift pump and it goes back on the return line, the lift pumo stays on for more than 15 seconds, but if i crank the engine there's no fuel going from the hpfp to the rail, not even a drop of fuel, even if i crank it a lot it just won't deliver fuel to the rail, it goes back on the return line, what could be the issue?
All I know after 13 years of CP3'S is I keep em lubed! Lil transmission fluid summer time, Lucas, Howse or Oower SERVICE in the winter..... My 5.9 pump leaked from that ball bearing thing on top so I had it replaced, that was 2nd engine probly 200 thousand on the Air Dog. 1st Oreilley pump ate up my Air Dog, then got Bosch Cp3 from diesel shop, and a new Air Dog and engine ran fine after that..
All is right w/ the world again. put new 6.7 modified pump from fleece and it's running better than ever. Guy from Haydon Idaho at alligator performance help me out in several ways and he's the man Holden Guyton. Good man.
thanks for doing that video, i know it wasnt easy

Out of interest , did you find out what had failed on the old pump ? Thanks.

Mine just effed off today. Started up and was idling fine touched throttle to take off and it died… good by cp3
@@2012pwagon make sure to do all the checks like i did in the video to confirm its not another issue
Also did fleece coolant bypass and it runs cooler in 4 5 6 on a hard pull. Overall temps a little cooler also.

I wonder if it was the fuel regulator
@dannymartinez7717 no pump itself was broken. Look at the last part at the end where i spin it over. No movement on the internals

No, that sounds like an electrical issue. If it was the cp3 it wouldnt start at all
@@TehArtfulDodger thanks for your answer
My truck is doing the exact same thing right now.. did you fix your problem already? And if so what was it?

Never came across something like this. Might be an injector dumping fuel. In my experience, if the cp3 fails, it just fails, not a gradual weakening
@@TehArtfulDodger I didn't elaborate but I changed "A lot" but did injectors 14000 mi. ago so Don't like the sound of that. AND about

Hey everyone I’m facing regular cps diesel injector pump diesel leaks , what is the cause ?

I was told not to use trans fluid in a diesel fuel system. But could have started by guys selling fuel conditioners. WDYT
How many miles on vehicle?
380,000 km 240,000miles
How much did pump cost
I got a used one from a junkyard for $450
This did not help me at all this guy prob look like a nerd 🤓☝️
