Great vid Adrian! If it wasn’t for the smaller size on so many vintage pieces I’d probably collect more of them. The Tissot, West End and the Sicura are all awesome! Getting some Blancpain vibes on that Sicura for sure and 38mm I could do! 👀😍
There's some really cool looking vintage watches but some are really small certainly compared with what we're used to. That Sicura since getting it back up & running again has seen as much use as any of my watches & definitely a favourite. Thanks for watching man.👍🍻😊
You weren't kidding when you said vintage watches tend to be small. I ordered an old soviet watch from eBay and it was way tinier than I expected. Still works and looks great, but next time I buy I'll actually check measurements. 🤣
It does show that there is many ways to get into the hobby and to keep it cost effective, that's what I enjoy, of course I'd love to own some high ends, but older and cheaper watches really do have a place in the community. Loved the showcase 👍
Totally agree mate, the vintage watch game can be a minefield & I don't always get it right haha. But there's something very satisfying when something I've picked up arrives & it's.....well like these ones! Working 😁
Grand job Adrian. Love vintage watches, as long as you get genuine bargains...you've seen my Pulsar diver from '81. Still running at plus 12 secs per month and only paid £43 for it! Great hobby to get into :)
Thanks John. There are some fantastic bargains to be had with patience. Collecting vintage is almost a different thing completely compared with new or newer watches. You certainly have to go into it with a completely different mindset. That 81 Pulsar of yours is a real star & a testament to the longevity of vintage if they're in the right hands.
During quartz revolution/crisis (70s) Sicura bought the Breitling name and later on in 1993 Sicura change name to Breitling ,nice few vintage, was hoping for late 60s watches but 20 years old is vintage those days .
Thanks Peter yes they did, which is the subject of an upcoming video, a bit of a tale of 2 watch brands. I could have kept going into the 1960's but as this was just really a very quick look to show that it is possible to get some pretty nice older watches for not a lot of money if people are prepared to hunt for them, I had to stop at late 60's or this video could have gone on for hours haha
Those silicone straps are an entire video of its own. Horrible material for a strap and they never see the light of day in my collection. 😂 That Tissot was a steal. That 2824 movement has some impressive decoration on that rotor and wasn’t expecting an exhibition case back. Sicura in the house! Cannot wait for that Breitling video buddy.
Ah yes silicone straps!! Definitely a video on its own 😂 it amazes me that some brands still put them on new watches, Bulova, Seiko, Rotary to name a few. Nikita loves that Tissot I have to sign for it if I want to wear it 🤣 The Breitling video is coming....be patient my friend.😆
Really interesting topic, nice video cool story behind the Ronson, that Tissot is timeless too! I recently bought a hand-wind from the 70s and my timegrapher was sending dots out across my room. Its a beautiful watch and solid gold so feels worth saving ... but the cost of servicing it to keep reasonable time would be mega vs. what I paid. Maybe I should man up and finally put my toolbox to use and actually try to do it myself.

You're so right about the costs involved with keeping some of them running, so I think that maybe learning to service a mechanical watch could be a worthwhile strategy, especially if you have a few to maintain.

Those are some nice finds Adrian. Really interesting pieces, The Ronson is a beauty. I'm very familiar with the company as I've owned several Zippos and most of my fluid and flints were Ronson. I knew they had ventured into watches at some point. I think I've come across the odd one online .I didn't know Remington had bought them out however.No moss on old Victor 😂😂
Thanks mate. I had no idea that Ronson had dipped a toe in the watchmaking pool until I stumbled on this one. I just thought it was interesting & a cool piece to have in the collection. Definitely a watch of a certain era too very Tag Heuer..ish like so many from the early 00's
Great video Adrian. I only have 2 .one avia .made for the Italian marines,and a1962 tudor made by rolex.what that means I don't really know. I am the second owner and it runs on time .34 mm.but wears mutch bigger tha avia is a 38 mm diver. Thanks mate.

For me it's 25 years I have no idea what the official age to be classed as vintage is though.
