I can totally relate to the reason regarding not knowing if you want to settle here forever. Specially because frankfurt baki germany se bohat alag ha. It's more of a corporate mahol, doesnt have that rich european culture like Nuremberg, Köln, Berlin, Hamburg etc. Also,, german real state market is very different than a lot of other developing countries. Very inflexible but the rules are there to support affordable housing for everyone. Aur yaha rent pe rehnay ki b koi dikkat nai ha. Renters ko itni protection ha govt ki traf se, ye dar thori k ghr se nikal dein ge. Wesay bhi added costs k sath (house maintenance wghera) aur zyada mehnga prna tha. This was a very wise and well thought of decision. Just invest your money in stocks and ETF etc and keep working on accumulating more capital. Good luck guys!

Great video, completely agree with your points.
    1. Importance of flexibility esp in IT career n being open to growth.
    2. 1/3 rd income towards housing principle plus ideally I feel it should be made with a backup of single earner.
    Also some points I d add ,
While buying a house brings instant joy but just like a higher pay or a fancy thing it fades , the relationships and the people that one meets and the time n memories with them bring more satisfaction, although debatable but surely socializing is a big aspect .
Also in general Germany is the best country to rent , I have looked across all around and only Germany n Switzerland has good and affordable renting following the 30 principle.
It is a great aspect that you ve shared , I know how hard it must have been not to fall in some sort of peer pressure and straight and decide financially. Great job guys !!!

Buying a mid budget house is always good option bcoz it can be sold easily and rented easily. A big house will be difficult to sell or find tenants when you plan to move to different loc.

Renting gives ultimate flexibility, no head aches, no responsibility, can pickup and move anytime, almost like living in a hotel. When you own you are taking complete responsibility, what if there is no buyer in the time frame you are looking to sell. Flats have less maintenance issues, individual home 🏡 requires constant maintenance, cutting grass, yard maintenance, snow removal are given, and all systems need updating, maintaining, will leave you with no free time and short of money, if you can't do some work on your own then hiring a professional is very expensive. Indian professionals do not have house maintenance skills or experience generally speaking, because in India you hire someone. All the above perhaps is true in Germany also, certainly where I am. Suggest evaluating everything on the basis of "Want vs Need", and not stretching beyond capability. Pressure on you must have come down after canceling, that's a good thing.🙂

House's in germany are too expensive just to buy without thinking about it properly. It's a hard descision to buy or not to buy, hopefully in the next years prices will get down a bit or atleast be stable. Hope to buy one house too, but ur points are also my reason not to buy right now🙏

Always have a budget for each and every expenses including big purchases like house and car. Many Finance Apps helps you make a budget and you don't have to waste time with paper and pen or spreadsheet. If you do not have family, then buying a big house will not help you much as friends normally don't come and stay. Live below your means and spend money on experience, health and happiness. That is what I learnt so far in my life. Good luck.

Good decision ...no point in buying a house beyond your budget and no life beyond paying for the house...at the end of the day a house is only a house....in a few months the novelty will wear out... sometimes things happen for the better which you will probably realise possibly later...We had a similar situation in Mumbai regarding a flat we almost bought....In our openion at that time it was a marvelous flat.. thankfully we did not and later in a few years bought a much much better flat....

    2. How much would have been the monthly mortgage (property tax + everything included)?

Buying property here doesn't make sense, for foreigners like us, who might move to some other country or back to their home country if remote work options open up.
Practical red pill: owning a house deducts more money from your monthly salary. Living in rented house and saving 80% of salary is better than paying 50% of salary to the bank for the rest of your life. Even illusion of owning a house is not very joyful and you cannot call it your house unless you have paid all the debt with compound interests after 20-30 yrs. On the other hand, you can rent a mansion with the savings of 20-30 yrs for your remaining life.

Yes when right time comes u will buy your own house too so enjoy the moment now

Considering Housing market is mostly a depreciating asset here in Germany. I believe you made a real good choice. Here loan usually runs for 20 years. Also, if you don’t wanna see your next two generations here. I don’t think it’s worth it. Great and educated decision. Thanks for the informative video. Love from an Indian in Essen🥰☺️ P.S.- A flat of around 400k€ might just be a right choice if one wants to have „Apna Ghar“🙃

I love all your content. But now I am quite emotional after having seen this. You must have gathered a lot of courage to share this news with us all. Well what suggestion i have for you guys about property is that just buy a piece of land in Germany and also invest a part of it to buy some land in India - because i understand you have second thoughts of moving back to India sometime in the future. So having some land bought in India and a part in Germany from your budget would be a great decision as per the current market trends i believe, you can build a house whenever and wherever you want to, and want to have a feeling of being settled. This would be a great decision for your future and your own future generations. All the best and keep creating such content! Love you guys!! ❤️❤️

Don't feel bad that the plan to buy the house didn't pan out. Better you took that decision now than later with a Buyer's remorse. As you mentioned, before buying a house you have to have a FIRM plan for the next 4/5 years that you are going to stay in that house and work in that city etc etc. Its a tough decision and as always everything happens for a GOOD reason. Perhaps there is a better option in the offing. If I were you, I would play a Very conservative game and not over exceed the Budget on an impulse. Sachin Bhai- I must tell you that you have an excellent partner in Shilpa that is very analytical, and conservative and she is your BIGGEST GIFT. So are you for her. Take it easy and live stress free for the next few weeks / months and before the next move on home buying make a FIRM PLAN on what your objectives are: India / Germany / elsewhere and other subjects you brought up stick to it and then make a move. Our Best wishes for the BEAUTIFUL COUPLE!!!

Unlike any asset class, that emotional attachment differentiate house (shall I say Home) from rest 😀

It is good thing that you have not taken the house which is not viable. Spend a few more years. Gather expertise through experience & money and come back to your root. For first generation it will be painful emotionally in older age. Man proposes & God in his time disposes. Thanks
