Absolutely. They're letting their flagship enterprise (Elder Scrolls) linger in near obscurity and definitely not giving Fallout it's due diligence, especially considering the momentum of it's success. All this in the name of Todd Howard's vanity projects... It's a sad day for these remarkable IPs.

Honestly, the best way to do a Fallout show would be an anthology series. Each episode being a different story done by a different director. A “Tales of the Wasteland”. The possibilities would be endless. One episode could be about Randall Clarke. Another could be about the Blackhall family and the Krivbeknih. Breaking it up that way, they could tell so many stories, and each one would have it’s own unique style.

There's already plenty Fallout clones on the market that I love and most fallout fans would too if they discovered them. Atom RPG is Fallout 1/2 to a tee set in Russia. Same vibe, atmosphere, UI and combat. Underrail is basically fallout 1 with more of a focus on combat. There's the Wasteland series as well which feels the most fallout to me. Just look around and you'll find many other "Fallout" games by other devs with a burning passion for their creations unlike bug-thesda. I'm not a no mutants allowed guy but after fallout 76 came out, I just hoped they'd crash and burn and sell off the series to somebody else. Bethesda is inapplicable of making good fallout games. Fallout 3 and 4 are trash but somewhat okay. 76 is complete garbage all around even with the changes they've made. The Indie devs making these spin off, fallout inspired games do way better with their lore and RPG elements imo.

I've been telling people for years, we are not going to see Fallout again until the mid 2030s unless they change the way they develop games to allow for tandem development with multiple teams. They might contract another studio to work on it, like they did with New Vegas, but the trick there was that Obsidian was given all the assets and code for Fallout 3 as a baseline. If they hand the IP off to someone else, it will be considerably more expensive and considerably slower because that studio would need to build the game from the ground up (mostly). Even TESVI is probably not going to hit shelves until 2029 or 2030.

It also starts before 2277, allowing you to explore alternate history scenarios within fallout itself like playing as the Mojave Brotherhood under Father Elijah and successfully defending HELIOS and taking over Big MT and the Sierra Madre or playing as Legate Lanius becoming the Monster of the East and consolidating the lands of New Mexico and Colorado before deciding to form a rival legion to Caesar's own.

Gritty Post Apocalypse has been just so present in many games (and other media), and I just feel like it's become saturated?
When I think of it, I kinda want a Fallout setting that starts out bleak (and keeping the "vibe" of the old Fallout), but that kinda gives hope too, it's been 200+ years since the Great War, I like the idea of rebuilding and a bit of a switch to solarpunk, not forced on players mind you, but offering this as an option to players, the possibility to join a faction who works towards sustainability rather than domination over others (and the environment), it can be a really positive take on things, the world ended but after all this time and effort, it's still possible to actually make things better in a way that isn't just "use geck to terraform"

You know what I reckon? New postapocalyptic games.
Now I dunno whether mad max movies were basically a carving stone, so to speak, for first Fallout but it was a huge inspiration for the game nonetheless.
Nowadays what do we have? TLOU tv show and probably a Fallout tv show - there is a big chance that like back in 90s, when there was some post apocalyptic movies and shows, then these two shows might boost an interest in postapo, more people get onvested in and thus more game developing teams and developers might shift their interest - now I love F3 the most and F NV too because I think that apart from F4 and F76, your freedom to EXPLORE is somehow justified and limitless and even expected, I think, but when playing F4 on PS4, I felt like the environment does not have much to offer to me, and even the characters and dialogues felt somehow off, soulless I almost want to say.
And yeah, I do realise that an open world game is a lot of work, a huge lots of factors which together combined have to click and thus there is a lot of things which might go wrong, but still, although I love Fallout series, I hope for some more indenpendent studio to come up with a new banger as I feel that F1 & F2 are so amazing is because it was still a relatively fresh idea and the devs and their motivation was probably "how do we make this original? what kind of little details do we piece together to make this whole thing interesting?"

What i wanted from next fallout games:
    1. We play our own main campaign than predetermined main quest. So we can be NCR, BOS, Enclave, Institute, Vault Dweller, Raiders, etc. That actually determined the fate of our worldspaces.
    2. Have FONV features such as Disguise, gunplay, training to do PA, factions, some unique consequences each word choices, reputations, survival, etc.
    3. Have skyrim features like leveling system while we using the skill, melee combat, having animals as pets/transport, BF/GF to marry, have beautiful world moment to chill, etc.
    4. Have FO4 settlement building but with actual snapping grip that make settlement easier to build, not too dependent to players to progress/survive, have companion progress dialogues and benefits, Have huge PA, have vertibirds, have customizations for armor/weapons, have good radio with host, etc.
    5. Have more choices in our personality like badass, evil, heroic, retarded, intellect, charming, stoic, etc. Than predetermined answers.
    6. Have multiple ways to complete mission/quest that really possible, full protagonist, full evil, full genocide, full pacifist.
    7. Have more detailed character maker and diverse in npc. Like different heights, weights, body builds, ages, skin color, hair color, etc.
    8. While FO4 give many customizations in weapons they are dull in cooking, armor, chems, etc. Give true freedoms. Like making our own chems from ingredient found in wild/materials, make armor available to vanilla clothing or even make our own clothing and can be concealed or padded while having drawbacks, explosives with smoke/sharpnel/poison/gas/flashbang/corrosives, etc.
    9. Have more than 1 companion and actually filled roles like scouts, tank, sniper, versatile, assassin, hacker/breacher. Also make their AI not that passive responding to enemies, interest, and uniques.
    10. Have populated world that not just huge but dense. I rather have similar size to FO4 but it filled with life and tbings to do than huge empty wasteland with nothing happens. Also whatever NPC does we can do that too. Major problems with open world game not made by rockstar lmao.
    11. Have seamless indoor/outdoor. Also more buildings to enter than placeholders with no purposes.
    12. Have better mods support, performances, stability, and bug free since they really rely on CK and with this current era some of their problems is unacceptable in gaming standards.
12 of these already fix major issues for me.

Until I downloaded it for free on PSN a couple months ago. I absolutely love the game. It’s not on the same level as New Vegas (obviously) nor F3 for that matter, but it has a lot going for it. The map/game world is easily the best Bethesda has ever made. It’s huge, it’s dense, it’s full of content, and it’s very unique and interesting.
The only real issue I have is the weight limit. Fallout 1st is damn near a necessity at this point. I don’t mind paying for it for a couple months, but only because I’m having a lot of fun, I got the game for free and had a PSN gift card.

FO76 was unacceptable at launch and mutated several times in several different cash grabs until we’ve stumbled upon what it is today. Today it is nearly unrecognizable as a Fallout game and those who do enjoy it would even admit it is far from a typical FO game. To a large percentage of the fanbase it represents an unacceptable deviation from what the series is. FO4 was audacious in many of its changes but I would say most of them worked out fine if only the game would have invested more in story and dialogue. This is why so many fans agree FNV and/or FO3 are superior games. Just because a small population of the fanbase enjoys a game does not make it acceptable
Edit: the only way forward for this series is a return to what made the franchise so popular. Excellent dialogue and characters, a plentiful map, and enjoyable combat all mixed within a post apocalyptic 50’s theme. I don’t think anyone cares how long it takes but this is what is needed

The way I see it is Fallout 4 and FO76 are two sides of the same coin. I play F76 with my friends and we do events together in a wacky Fallout-themed amusement park. I mod and play FO4 when I want to delve into interesting stories and game-play. I didn't always see it this way, TBH. I was an early adopter and even bought the Rum, but my relationship with 76 was strained and sporadic. I would compare the story content to 4/NV or even my favorite mods and feel let down. That ended when I embraced the tribe and started playing with a group of people through a Discord server. I found the fun in Fallout 76 through the power of "friendship."
The real deal is that there are many camps of Fallout fans and there is about to be a whole new category of fan -- TV watchers. There will probably be plenty of crossover, of course but a non-zero number of those new fans won't have played any of the games at all. Is that cool? Will that create more Fallout for everyone? I hope so and I plan on giving it a fair chance to earn my fandom the old-fashioned way: by making a great show.

It'd have massive companies trying to get it first, like Ubisoft, Tencent, even EA, just because the Fallout mark is so profitable even if they have no experience with a game like that.
Bethesda may not be the best, but the others who could buy the IP are far worse, Bethesda at least knows how to properly build up a world, even if their writing sucks, and Obsidian does not have the money to buy the rights for Fallout if any other big company jumps in to buy it as well.

@@OwnZar I hear you but a company shouldn't be allowed to just sit on their
a$$ and put out next to nothing. If they're not capable of putting out new games for people to play then they shouldn't be responsible for the rights anymore that's how I feel and if they can then f*****g do it, I think this would finally put the pressure on companies like Bethesda to start actually caring instead of just selling Skyrim for the 200th time

@@farawaytundra008 Bethesda is pumping out new content for Fallout, Fallout 76 keeps getting new updates and now they are making a TV series.
Not to mention that they are working on another 2 series at the same time.
Do you prefer polished content every 6-8 years or rushed out like Fallout 76 was?
Fallout 4 and 76 have enough content to keep us entertained until Fallout 5 or the TV series come around, but faster content would not equal to quality content.
If the content they are pumping right now is not up to your liking that'd be another story, but they are not sitting on their asses doing nothing.

@@OwnZar I don't know why they even bother with Fallout 76 that game should've never been made and it's even dumber that they waste time trying to update it for who? the couple hundred people that like a copy paste online Fallout 4. That time could've and should've went to anything else. Skyrim was 12 years ago and Fallout 4 was 8 years ago between Fallout 4 and today there should've been at least 2 mainline entries I don't know how anyone can argue against that. There's no excuse for this. Fallout should easily be put out every 4 to 5 years and it's sounding like they need another 6 or 7 years on top of an 8 year wait it's not acceptable. New Vegas didn't even have half of the time I think is reasonable to make a Fallout and it's arguably the best one so why do these people need 20 f*****g years to make something? If they are spread too thin and don't have the manpower to keep up then give it up it's that simple.

We def need dedicated teams for different franchises, with star field coming out they're just spread way too thin especially for how cult of a following they have. Can't wait for the show!

The most fun that I've had in Fallout 76 was doing a Roleplay playthrough, I literally walked everywhere, only ran or jogged when I needed to, slept at night- and gleamed every bit of lore that I could since the Wastelanders update.
You can enjoy a SP experience on the game, the problem is people want to hate things now- often over small changes. After all...
    War never changes.
Oh, another note: The last Fallout title that Obsidian worked on was completed in 18 months, not 5, 6, or 7 years. Devs from Interplay head of Obsidian, they understand the IP very well, because they created it.

i really enjoy FO76. mostly playing solo too. only thing that doesnt "feel" like fallout is the multiplayer aspect. other than that, its exactly what i would have wanted from an online fallout game.
