Kris, you’re a true artist
My dude! I love these kinds of videos so the more parts the merrier to me. Pretty work!
Good to hear that brother. 🙏 The big project of the year is gonna be the Junior. But first, let’s finish this absolute beast of a guitar.
Love your mod videos, dude. Well done!
Thanks man!
Right on time I just got another project strat. I never thought about aging the hardware myself. 🤯
This is awesome Kris. This is crazy inspiring. You should do this in your spare time for an extra coin or 2. I'd buy one for sure
Thanks so much, super glad to hear that! Have fun with your project strat. Cheers!
Good job Kris, I love that kind of finish, wish it was offered more often. I have a PJD and I love it. Curious to hear the tones and see the look of it after everything.
Thanks a lot! Oh man, all I can say is that I'm sure you'll like the tone. 😜 That's all I can tell at this point, haha! Part 3 is coming up soon. Cheers and have fun with your PJD!
Oh boy. I have a scent that this is gonna be a crazy beautiful guitar!
Hi Kris! Nice job with the pick guard, but everything else looks amazing! Cheers!
Thank you, man! Cheers!
Yeah, these things take time! Looking great though! Cannot wait to hear that staple pickup in that guitar Kris!!!!!
Thanks a lot buddy! 🤗 Yeah I have a really good feeling about this.
yup..going to be a badass geetar!@@KrisBarocsi
I wish i had the patience for such things, the skill and experience to do it as well as you would be nice too.
Beautiful look on the top Sir.
Patience is all I have. Time? Not so much 😂 But whatever. This guitar is worth every second I spend on it.
@@KrisBarocsi we could all use a bit more time, but if we had it … something else would come up , house or auto repairs so cherish every moment 🤘🏽
Very nice work, Kris. I've been working on a Tele with one of my kids, and had to widen the half-circle on the pickguard to fit around the tele control plate. Took for f'ing ever, and it's still not perfect. I still need to sand it some more and widen the gap ever so slightly.
Look forward to part 3.
Thanks so much for watching my dude!! Yeah if you want to be accurate with a pickguard it takes for absolutely ever. And that plastic dust whilst filing... I hate it, haha!
Sweet job man, was expecting it done but yeah never underestimate the pickguards haha. A lot of fine tunning goes there
Me too buddy, me too. 😂 Then I realised that this is gonna take way too long and I didn't want to make this episode 40 minutes long... Yeah well, you learn something new every day, right? haha!
@@KrisBarocsi more is more 🤣
@@32riffs Are you sure though? 😅😂
@@KrisBarocsimore than sure
Kris you are so encouraging :D. You didn't care about getting the Custom shop tele scratched, today I scratched my Pia's neck in dot size you'd never see with my bracelet, and I got so angry, I think I should learn a lesson from you about it. :D
Haha, thanks man! Yeah don't get angry, those marks on guitars are inevitable and tell your story. They belong on a guitar. Unless you buy a collector's piece. That shouldn't get scratched obviously... 😅
But our favorite guitars are not meant to be a financial investment. It's an emotional inverstment, which doesn't get ruined with scratches. It's quite the opposite actually. 😁
I don't care how good you are or how experienced, this takes balls to do and a lot of work, well done sir it's coming along beautifully, I take it anything is possible if you set your mind to it 😉
Thanks so much man! Yeah well, after years of working on Thomann customer’s guitars (some of which were brand new, some others vintage instruments) you lose the initial (and natural) fear of ruining them. 😂
I think if you keep your confidence in balance with your experience you’ll be fine. Haha!
I don't think I see myself doing all this fiddly stuff, but it's nice to somebody else do it. It's going to come out great.
Awesome work Kris! It seems like we have similar tastes wrt relicing/aging. Especially with the hardware. I don’t like rusty but I also don’t like shiny. I like milky, I think you put that phrase very well. Your tuning knobs look exactly like the ones on my custom shop strat which has journey man relic. Also thanks for showing us how to properly work on pick guards. I made transformed an SSS strat pick guard to an HSS once. However I only used a file and it took me a very long time. Even tho I have a dremel. I thought the dremel would be too invasive. How did you not ruin the routes when you made the last passes with the dremel with the masking tape off? Did you just touch lightly or use a different bit?
Thanks a lot buddy!!
Yeah I used a sander dremel bit, I turned it down really slow and I barely touched the pickguard. That’s a pretty safe and efficient way of doing it. It still took me many many hours to finish it. 😅
Nice barn! 😉
Thanks! ☺️ I could use some proper guitar building tools though. And a bigger workbench, haha!
@@KrisBarocsi Rome wasn't built in a day, right? 😉
will be great axe man noice
Was the hardware chrome or nickel? Thanks for this upload :)
Nickel. It’s much nicer to age. Thanks!
Awesome to take us for the ride, Kris. Thank you! It already looks stunning. One q: you used a power saw for cutting the inner parts of the pickguard and pickup ring, but a handsaw for the outer sides, which seems to be the bigger job that would benefit more from the 'help' of electricity. Can you explain your thinking please?
Thanks a lot! I only use the powered saw for rough cuts - it doesn't matter if it's inside the pickup cavity or not. As soon as I get very close to the final outline of the pickguard I cut with an oldschool jigsaw or use a fine hand file. That's about the only explanation I can give and I hope it makes sense. 😄
No eye protection?!? 😰
I use an eye protector when working with the big router or with the dremel with a router bit. When using a jig saw I usually don't, even though I know that I should. Please stay safe everyone, Erebos is right!
@@KrisBarocsi I meant for the spray painting. Nitrocellulose lacquer is nasty stuff to get in your eyes.
i dont see any difference sorry
