    Most of area quest are made mmo quest because EA wanted Dragon age inquisition to be a MMO. Bioware had to fight to change the mind of ea and made inquisition a rpg. Fortunately the main story and allied quest are really good. The main quest "Wicked eyes and wicked hearts" is in my opinion the best of the game

    I recently replayed this by downloading the PS4 version on my PS5. I still love and enjoy it. And I have played Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II. I’m not biased and play each game on its merits. I like Dragon Age Inquisition for what it is, a new story in the Dragon Age universe.

    After purchasing a brand new high-end computer, I eagerly searched for RPG games that I could spend hundreds of hours playing. I recently purchased and began playing Inquisition. After some time, perhaps due to a large amount of time spent in Hinterlands, I became overly bored that I began looking for new games to play. While I believe it is wonderful to help a fledgling organization become the powerhouse that shapes Thedas' future, I do not like to fill my journal with hundreds of quests requiring me to visit the questgiver in order to complete them. Even though I do not necessarily call it trash, seeing Hawke brought back good memories of DA2. My focus on the plot diminished to the point where I would jump between Hinterlands, Skyhold, then Ral Voyeaux back and forth. The game no longer makes sense to me and I don’t know if I even want to finish it. Because I don’t care to remember the name of the quest, every time I try to locate it in Journal full of side quests, I become frustrated to the point where I want to punch a hole in the screen. Daggerfall was the beginning of my RPG passion, which was followed by Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. As for Origins and Two, I did not find them to be as overwhelming and tedious as Inquisition. There is no point in playing this game for me, I understand. I do not condemn it, but I try my best to respect those who do.

    • @Kaganath
      @Kaganath  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing, your point is very understandable for this game. I do hope they tone down the tedious aspects of Inquisition in Dreadwolf since this game was released in a time where those tedious mechanics were being popularized by devs like Ubisoft in the open-world genre.

    I actually had a similar experience back when this game came out. Hinterlands very much overstayed it's welcome and when I finally got to owning your own headquarters I was so excited. Then I got a bug crash when you meet the DA2 main character and I just called it there lol. I think that bug has since been fixed but I was so annoyed by that time that I went on to something else.
    At some point, I'd like to revisit the game and maybe just run it through on easy difficulty since I really enjoyed the previous 2 dragon age titles for the story more than the gameplay haha. It's crazy that you only played 15 hours and so much seemingly happens in the story. I believe the full game is actually much longer if I remember correctly?
    Thanks for the video!

    • @Kaganath
      @Kaganath  11 месяцев назад

      Currently working on the DLCs and I'm about 60 hours in so far at the end of Jaws of Hakkon. I believe each DLC is about 5 hours each so I think I'll top off my first full playthrough at 70 - 75 hours and then I'll try out other classes and races.
      It's unfortunate you encountered that bug. Aside from visual bugs like Blackwall t-posing in the background of a cutscene, I only encountered one major bug not allowing me to select a dialogue option very early in the game and then never again.
      Anyway I thought this was pretty decent, I've never played the earlier titles so I really don't have much to compare it to but it was a fun world to get into!

    Ill never understand how "Content bloat" is considered a bad thing. Its optional, you don't have to engage with it, but its there if you want to get the most out of the gaming experience. Currently its on sale for 4 dollars, good/bad whatever 4 bucks is worth it. ( I also remember the game being good in 2014.)

    • @Kaganath
      @Kaganath  5 месяцев назад

      Speaking based on personal experience here, but optional content is generally great, but from a new player perspective that's trying out Inquisition for the first time, they don't really know which are meaningful content and which is not.
      It's why a lot of people quit the game before leaving Hinterlands. They don't realize what they're doing is optional, so they just follow the flow of the game and end up doing mid sidequests which makes them think that this is all the game has to offer.
      Good implementation of optional content is always a win for me. But the way Inquisition does it makes the game feel "bloated", filled with content to extend playtime so they can say it has X hundred hours worth of content, when really the things worth doing are half that.
      Based on what they're saying about Veilguard it seems that they understood they went to far and are now reeling it back, focusing on memorable, meaningful content instead of what they did here in DA:I.

    The biggest problem with this game was that they originally intended this game to be a MMORPG but then changed that decision to make it a Single Player RPG some time during the development. The result is that the mechanics and size of the maps are strange for a Single Player, and make it all seem a bit "empty" at times. Like you said many players - including myself - got fatigue already in the first large map the Hinterlands and quit playing. This is unfortunate and I might give this game a third chance at some point and struggle myself through that first huge map and see what comes after.

    • @Kaganath
      @Kaganath  5 месяцев назад

      I notice Bioware has this weird tendency to trend chase instead of just focusing on what they're good at. You still see it in Veilguard with the vibe, but I'm glad they got rid of these ridiculously large maps.

    So, it's very much like a watered-down version of origins with a base management system. And then an extra 30 hours of gameplay added that could have been cut to 12 hours. As a teenager, when it came out, I didn't mind it. I had way more free time. As an adult, it's almost impossible to enjoy without mods to cut out some of that waiting. They also watered down the spell combos and other combat (in my opinion) to the point that just playing on anything besides easy is just not that engaging. Now, don't get me wrong. I still love it, but if DA4 is similar, I will be very bummed. I would rather have a remaster of origins at this point with console mod access. Bring back the origins system, the interactive combos, a better traveling mechanic, and maybe flesh out the crafting mechanics besides the weird shit that was in Inquisition, and I would be sooo hyped for DA4. Will they do that? Probably not, it is EA after all...

    • @Kaganath
      @Kaganath  11 месяцев назад

      Very excited to see what people loved about Origins when I do play it. It's one of those games I've always had in the backlog but just never freed up the time to play.

    • @tylerrushford7609
      @tylerrushford7609 11 месяцев назад +1

      @Kaganath as long as you go in with the mindset that it's an older game and has bugs, it will be a great RPG experience. I do recommend installing some of the mods (if playing on pc) that address some of these issues. In my opinion, games like DA:O, Fallout New Vegas, and skyrim need community mods to get the full experience because RPG are soooo buggy because of their depth.

    Inquisition veteran here, the game is a grind and the 3rd playthrough is when it's the most fun because you should have all your schematics for weapons and gear and upgrades. Once you do that, you can really max out stats, flesh out the mmorpg elements and enjoy it. You have all manner of crowd control, combos and class specializations. If you're good enough, you can solo nightmare difficulty without your party members if you want a real challenge.

    It always keeps my anticipation factor high because i know i am accomplishing alot in this one area before moving on.
    Usually i will stay in one area even in open world RPG'S that will allow me to move on UNTIL i have completed everything that area has to offer.

    I played all the Dragon Age games and by far Inquisition is the best game by a land slide! I played all the story lines from the original to the last and even though the original has an excellent storyline and lore Inquisition gets you excited to play the game. From the theme song, and the story line of your character has a unique take by leaving you feeling as if you have a true purpose when faced with the original villain from the previous title. Also, building up your fort and carefully following the sub characters story lines brings you in deeper into the plot of the storyline. Originally, I had the game on the Ps4 but my console was damaged and so I recently decided to purchase the same game from the Epic game store but on my windows laptop.
    One strong recommendation would tell anyone is if your only goal is to purchase the game only don't buy the game on the Microsoft platform if you decide to use a PC because you have only 2 options to play this game. If you want to play the PC version you are required to pay the monthly XBOX game pass in order to play Dragon Age Inquisition. You are better off going directly to Epic Games and purchase the game directly from their game store. I can't comment on Steam, so I don't know.
    At the moment I am trying to figure out if I can use my Nintendo Switch Pro controller on my PC in order to play the game. I have a feeling I may need to go to GameStop and purchase a MicroSoft Controller instead.
    Has anyone used the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for playing PC Games? If so please let me know if this can be done? Anyways great video on this game!
    Lastly, if you visit my channel, I have recordings of Dragon Age Inquisition recorded from 2017 when I first played this game.

    in this video you mentioned things like immersion but the immersion is only good if youre playing a non magical human and side with templars. if you had been playing a mage or a non-human race your immersion would be tramped upon to make the story better for the perspective of nonmagical human players as your character faces dialogue tree after dialogue tree of things that only make sense if you either dont have magic or happen to be a human. if you play a qunari youre lucky if anyone even references it
    you also mentioned not playing either of the sequels to dragon age. your immersion would probably be taken down a few notches every time the game contradicted one of the choices you made in previous games, which is A LOT. whether its from resurrecting characters you killed or just flat out retconning things you did. now that baldurs gate 3 is out i dont think im ever going to touch the dragon age sequels again. as far as im concerned, it is the sequel to dragon age origins.

      Unfortunately I did play a non magical human and sided with the templars so I got the exact experience. Doesn't importing world state transfer over the decisions you make in the previous games or is it still bad for OG players even with imported world states? Genuinely curious as I thought this installment was decent on it's own.

    • @imgecko3733
      @imgecko3733 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@Kaganathimporting world state is supposed to transfer over the decisions you make, but in practice only a few get a sentence of recognition while some of the biggest decisions you make just flat out get removed or changed.
      my last inquisition playthrough i tried to play an elf mage, which gives you the keepers apprentice backstory. this means your character is supposed to be well versed in all the elven ways from history religion magic etc, yet everyone addressed her as if she was human. in that playthrough: random humans corrected her on elven history, they need to tell her what goddess she worshipped, the other elves called her an outsider, etc... its just a mess
      this game might be alright on its own, ive only ever played it as part of a trilogy. the main villain of inquisition is kinda boring and there are so many time wasting mechanics, so i think the first dragon age game is still way better.

      I swear I thought I was the only one that noticed this. I was so excited to play as a Qunari mage and less than ten minutes into the game I had to switch to something else because it just didn’t make sense. I also played as an elf which wasn’t as bad but I still had to do some pretty extensive head cannoning to give my character an excuse to join a cult for a god she doesn’t believe in populated by humans who have been actively repressing her people and culture for centuries. Casandra tells your Dalish elf that they should just adopt the Maker into their pantheon and the game treats it like it’s some kind of mic drop moment. The game just isn’t smart enough to grapple with its own set up.
      You can tell they wrote a single canon story and then added only a light sprinkling of flavor text for anything that wasn’t the canon story. The Inquisitor is a human that has the ability to cosplay as multiple other races. That’s how BioWare gave us the illusion of choice in DA:I.

    I've been strugglibg to replay this game for the last five years or so. 😂 Thank goodness Dreadwolf keeps getting delayed.
    It struck an uncomfortable spot where it feels like it got the worst of both worlds. An open world mmo with too little worthwhile content or story to keep it intetesting.
    Same with the combat which is more sluggish than DAO with less control than DA2.

    I didn't like this game but I had to play through it and the DLC at least two times because I desperately wanted to like it. The DLC is excellent just the main game is bad IMO.
    To be fair, I played the first two games which had incredible writing so I was expecting another DA game with amazing story writing. Some of DAI is amazing but there are too many points where the writing is awful that the main game just doesn't work with the other two games. That it is also a off-line single player MMO is enough to wreck this game. I hope someone fixes this game someday because it could easily be great with a lot of love.
