This helped me a lot I was recommended to use draw reins on my mare I am training for western pleasure and she keeps her nose pointed out this helped to know how to attach the reins and how to use them thank you Mr. Trocha
Please remember, draw reins are simply a training aid to help a horse understand how to give to pressure. They are not a substitute for good hands. Please don't over-use.
Hi Lisa, That's because you aren't using your hands correctly. Lot's of horse owners don't have any idea what good hands are... and what good hands aren't.
Larry, thanks for the video. Any thoughts on me changing out (replacing) the forks on my German Martingale to individual lines, placed as you were showing to the cinch rings? I'm trying to visualize it, but I'm wondering if the system would allow for enough space to give to the lateral movement on the outside rein. This would be an alternative to me having to ride this particular horse in a 2 rein system of split reins and split draw reins, which I will be doing shortly. Thanks in advance. Note: the German Martingale reins I would be using are split ones.
I really love this video! I'm trying to get mygelding more supple and have a nicer headset and I'll have to look into using these instead of the neck stretcher we have him in.

You are welcome Lyssa. Remember, they are simply a training aid... not a substitute for good hands. Be sure not to over-use them.

Do you prefer the draw reins or a ported bit
Those are totally different things that work differently from one another.
Thanks. I can't wait to try draw reins again. Used them on my hunters but that was many moons ago.
Sounds good but don't discount the German Martingale.
Excellent video with great information, Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I prefer the draw rein to the gmartingale
How long do you recommend using draw reins? My mare does awesome with them. But when I try riding without them she’s a completely different horse.

Thank you Mr. Trocha, learned a lot from it. Keep the videos coming, please!

Hi. If I had to permanently choose. I'd choose a good quality German Martingale over the draw reins.
Most informative and thanks Mr. Trocha

You are welcome, Paula.
Buenas tardes no tendrán vídeos en español porque tengo caballos..? Gracias
Nice. Would like to know how to slow a western pleasure horse by loping diagonally.
You don't.
👍
never seen them used without the standard rein for the horse to take up a contact
How tall is a 7 year old horse
hahah not all 7 year olds are the small height bud
It depends on the breed and gender. Take a draft over a quarter horse for instance.
Nice
