Your method for feeding flies to your pets is so much simpler than the fridge method, and that knowledge alone was worth watching your video. Thanks for making this!
Thank you for your video. I'm just away to get my very first jumper and I was worrying how to catch the flies to feed them. After watching this I'm going to do it the way you did and hopefully I'll find it just as easy as you make it look. 😌
I think it sucks when people don’t like bugs. It tells me they don’t like to try to desensitize themselves to things that look bad but are okay (I feel like spider haters also don’t like people who dress weird)
If only it were this easy for my jumping spider. My spider can't climb up the sides of the container, but the flies can. More often than not I have to smack the crap out of the container to get the fly to fall to the bottom. She takes forever to stalk her prey, and once she decides to pounce, the prey has already moved out of the way. If she can't catch the prey under a few minutes, she gives up and goes back into her cave, and the fly dies from stress or starvation. I've even tried dousing the flies in water so that I can break off the wings and a few legs so that it would stay at the bottom of the container, but it's like she knows something's wrong with the fly and loses interest in it... Because it's winter, she hasn't left her cave in almost a month. It's a little warmer today so she finally came out, and I gave her a small fly. She had trouble catching it, so she went back into her cave. I coaxed her back out and injured the fly's leg so that it would be easier for her to catch it, but now she doesn't want it anymore. I'm out of ideas. I really hope she survives the winter...
Hi Steward! I've always wanted to get into macro photography of insects/arachnids, so I've very glad I stumbled upon your channel. Think you could make more animal care videos though please? Keep up the great work!
Thanks for all the "nuts and bolts" for care of phidippus regius. Found 2 in the living room and keeping them in an enclosure to study and photograph seemed far better than squishing them.
I caught small flies by smacking at the air until they bounced off the ground then picking them up before they recover and dropping them in enclosure. He was pretty scared of the fly cus it's bigger than him so I took a small torch and a price of paper went near some food refuse and started trying to hit them with fire till it burns wings and they drop on paper. Took 3 damaged fruit flies and dropped them in this mourning. If there's problems with my strat other than torturing wild feeders please inform. I don't feel bad for the feeders they know what they did 😡.
So my zebra jumping spider is about 5mm big, i was only able to get some house crickets and they seem big even the small ones and i am FREAKIN OUT (First spider + anxiety disorder) Can he get injured or killed What do i do if he doesnt eat him Help
While watching the part of your video showcasing the kitchen towel I was remembering that sponges are not recommended due to potential bacteria buildup. Is the advise regarding kitchen towels different due to them not actually being a sponge?
How do you keep your jumping spiders warm enough considering you're in the UK and they're native to much warmer climates like those in Florida? (i'm planning on getting a jumping spider but our house gets pretty cold and i'm considering getting a heat lamp to increase the ambient temperature in the enclosure)
When he threw the fly in and said "Job Done" It sounded just like the Orc Peons in the Warcraft games!

Try putting them in the freezer for a couple of minutes, the cold will knock them out and it's easy to pick them up and place into the enclosure.
How old do the jumping spiders have to be to have meal worms for treats? Also how long does it take for maggots to become flies? Thanks

My spider isn’t eating when I have her a fruit fly she bit it but didn’t eat it 😩😩😞😞
They don’t eat when they are getting ready to molt. Sometimes they don’t eat at all, it’s just how it is.
@@StewartWoodArt oh thank you I was panicking didn’t want her to die or anything
