The particular type/subgenre of electronic dance they blended into this is called "hardstyle"

I would classify Mirar as like Neo-classical, Thallstep (Thall+Dubstep)

      Best description so far tbh

The sound has no relation to dubstep tho. It has a rhythm to it absolutely, but no dubstep influence at all.

@jima4971 it has a tone. Especially the sound design elements. The industrial like whirring and stuff in Hestehov is very dubstep as well as a lot of the guitar parts have very dubstep like parts, such as the end of Oslo. It may not outright sound like dubstep influence because of the Thall that's built on it.

Sound design isn't inherently dubstep but yes there are dubstep and bounce elements... Also DNB

@@neilpatrickhairless I meant the kinds of sounds. Not that sound design = Dubstep. Humanity's Last Breath uses quite a bit of sound design, but it doesn't sound anything like dubstep. I hear a lot of dubstep elements in it. Nothing as pronounced as a Dubstep "growl" though

Glad you’ve finally gotten to this release! Honestly I was the same, just enjoyed the singles but didn’t end up getting to the EP. Totally blew my mind though when I first listened to it. I’d say cauchemar the most, the atmosphere is just unfathomably terrifying. He’s actually working with a guy called Marius from Norway.

It's definitely an experience, and I do think it's actively taking Thall in a different direction that could have huge potential! I think Rose Bonbon is still my favorite song, and I hope he experiments with more of those Gothic "castlevania" style symphonies.

@@SuperMetalBrosPodcast yeah he actually uses the harpsichord loads. I believe Leo’s classically trained in piano and guitar so a lot of this has a shit ton of theory behind it. It’s pretty crazy. Btw Cauchemar is French for nightmare.

Vildhjarta are the landlords of this stuff for a reason. They know how to dial it back and when to add more seasoning... There are cool riffs and sound design in this and killer arrangements but it's past meme status at this point

More of an Industrial/ Avantgarde Noise Metal album than "Thall".

I respectfully disagree. While it certainly has industrial aspects and moments, there's pitch shifted Thall chords littered throughout.

Leo, the artist himself, called it thall-step
