She called me Nana. 😭 Because that relationship didn’t make it, I felt it was best to stop running in and out of her life. 😭 I see her with her mother now in Walmart. She’s 12. Holy shit.. I have not cried like that in a long bit... I'm a step father of 3.. my daughter was 3 at the time.. her brother had just turned 2.. and the youngest was 6 months old.. and I met my wife off a dating site.. and had no idea she even had kids.. the 2nd time we hungout she brought them all.. she lived in Montana at the time and I was in Washington about 2 hours away.. poor girl showed up very tired.. from working all day then driving to see me.. she was so tired she was falling asleep rocking Jayden AKA the 6 month old.. I asked her could I try? and I held him all night.. after that night months went by.. and I told her I wanted to marry her and be a father to those kids.. here I am about 3 years later.. she's my wife.. and those kids are happy and have a dad now.. and best of all.. They gave me a reason to be a better man.. they made me want to live.. and try harder.. become better thrive for more.. I appreciate the fact my wife let me be that man.. I.. Love.. Life.....

Thank you for serving this beautiful country and protecting our freedoms. like you as well i have a strong connection to this song. my nephew who never knew his father and only knew his unkie blake and his unkie oliver i decided to step up and be the father figure in his life bc the man his mother is married too stays gone as a hauler for a local towing company, so i decided to step up as a father figure in this little boys life. i am also a step father as well the only difference is the father is in the boys life i wouldnt have that any other way. i actually told the woman im married too i would like to meet his father and just simply thank him for still being there for his son.

Any child would be so happy to know that they are truly loved by their step parent. I feel the step part should drop. So true any man can be a father, but it takes a completely different person to be a dad. God bless any step parent that loves the child like his own. So many times a step parent is far more deserving to be loved by a child instead of the blood parent.

I'm a proud single dad of 2 awesome kids. Some years back when my daughter was in 2nd grade her class needed a volunteer one day a week to take the kids to the school library. There were 4 boys in that class that were very misbehaved. After talking to them I discovered none of them had a present father in their life. Never underestimate a fathers value!

First time I heard this song was on a side stage at Country Jam in Eau Claire, WI when Elvie was singing with just his guitar. I was on my way to the main stage and this voice grabbed my attention. As I listened to this song I found myself hanging on every word and fighting back tears. As a middle school teacher of 28 yrs I have seen them come & go (and I hope they have found that positive Dad or Mom that's missing in life).
