Great video. While audio was lo first, I got over it quickly. Really packed with content

Content was great. Definitely a great demo to help wrap my head around what is going on with git. This is going to change my workflow significantly.
Sure the sound wasn't very good. It sounded like the guy was presenting from a cell phone or laptop mic. Took all of 30 seconds to get over it. You all should try doing the same.

Awesome webcast. Covered a lot of git features in a short amount of time. Thanks Scott.

Very nice, well structured presentation. Would be even better if the audio wasn't so terrible. I am not complaining, it's great to have this info available in a short presentation, but please consider redoing the audio if possible. Thank you. :)

Excellent tutorial, the sound is better if you turn it louder (I think it's the software rather than his mic). Thanks Scott!

rails is a framework for ruby. A rails project is a deployment of the framework that you're using to create an application, and the application itself.

I'm listening to this on my newly purchased studio monitors. Oreilly please get a condenser mic for your screen casts so I won't feel I have wasted $2.500 on new monitors :-)

Jessica, On Windows I believe it's the git bash terminal. On a mac as it OSX built on top of Linux anyway it should be the terminal so if you haven't discovered this already I would imagine your installation wasn't successful.

When not using 'git commit -m "my message", it brings up a basic text editor so I can type my commit message. How do I leave this screen?

Common misconception. You could have the world's best microphone (if one exists), but if the rest of the signal chain is crap then it doesn't really matter that much.

The audio on a number of the O'Reilly Webcast have the same poor sound quality.

  • @jayarjo

Looks like audio is just a bit over-compressed, apart from the fact that it's indeed poorly recorded in first place.

Yeah,, it always shocks me that people record in HD or something and use an audio codec from the 60s! It may have something to do with them wanting to sell a better version, but still!

Why does O'Reilly, a leader in the communication of technical information allow have the crappiest sound on most if not all of their otherwise excellent videos ????

Thanks for the tutorial. More organization would have been nice. When trying to take notes and do some serious learning, as most would while watching an hour long video, it's frustrating to have jump back and forth between syntax(commands) and logic(examples). It's an hour... maybe next time do a 10 minute overview of the commands and what they do, then move into your examples so you can move through them fluidly, without needing to remember to explain what each command does when you type it.

@skdkskdk If it was the 60's it would be all analog and warm. This is digital audio from the 1980s. I think the blackface ADATs were way better than this.
