Great review. I'm happy you addressed the Lucid-X discussion--that was the first thing I was thinking. The orbit felon is one of my favourite discs, but I still carry another overstable 9 speed since the orbit ones are pretty straight.
I bag a seasoned Rathbun 2022 tour series and I have noticed it is close to a champ firebird glide wise. No doubt it is a utility disc because anything past 250 that run of felon is useless for me. Luckily I discovered the metal flake explorers can fit that "Flippy felon" slot.
Yeah this one has a solid combination of glide and overstability. I was really surprised that it was flying just as far as my stock lucid felon, but it was much more overstable!
@Apollo Disc Golf it's cause they use a little suction cup robot to move them around and when the x plastic is still cooling it acts a little weird when the machine gives it a hickey
I have old firebirds that the similar flight number discs can’t replicate. It’s only a long approach disc for me, but lots of times, it makes a sick run, but leaves me with a super tough putt. Still gonna send it tho.
The Sockibomb Felon is the bomb. I'm a Trilogy guy, but am not a fan of the Dynamic Discs Justice System names all that much.. So I tried Ahtis, Pioneers, A Raptor..... aaaand now I bag three Felons and couldn't live without them. Fluid, Moonshine, and Sockibomb. They can cover SO many slots in your bag. My Fluid has a good chunk of turn, my moonshine is reliable without being a meathook, and my Sockibomb is beefy, but not to the point where it divebombs when it fades. Felons have a dragging fade for me that helps shape so much.. most other 9,3,0,4 kind of molds go so much for overstability they fade too hard and dive. It's the only DD mold I bag and I hate the name.. It's that good. Then get a couple Anvils for you shorter Felon needs. Perfection.
thanks for the comparison I was curious about this. the lucid felon is my fave for its flex in the hand and the stability getting really straight over time for a great sidearm disc
Oof, that looks D-U-M-P-Y. It reminds me of the new Doom Bird 4. Discs like these are good for crash shots IMO. Something that'll stick without rolling uphill or downhill.
Did not expect to see a Brent Hambrick stamped Firebird! I live in Ohio and that's an excellent course. I really like the comparison videos, keep up the good work!
Yeah I got that a LONG time ago… I think I bought it off someone on Facebook or something? It’s super stiff and fairly flat! Very nice! By far my favorite Firebird I have
I wonder if this is similar to a Sexton Firebird. I like my Fuzion Felon and the flare skip but use a 21 Sexton for less ground play and slightly less fade.
This one is definitely more overstable than the Sexton Firebirds. It's closer to a champ firebird than anything... But I think this one goes a little further!
Interestingly enough, just noticed they made these a 4 glide instead of 3 for the traditional Felon's. They seem great, just not sure they will get much traction when they want $30 a disc and you can get a regular Felon for $20.
@@ApolloDiscGolf seems to mainly be the large manufacturers, have to pay for the contracts somehow I guess. Curious to see trends if people pivot to smaller brands or end up buying 1 disc instead of 2 typically.
@@KingKerrmitt Yeah... It might eventually be the bigger companies making the "higher quality" stuff like the Royal plastic and then the smaller companies making disc the "traditional" way and keeping pricing the same... that or everything will eventually move to $20-$30 discs... either scenario wouldn't surprise me!
Yeah I think that's a good comparison! This is definitely a touch bigger in the hand than a stock Felon, and more overstable than a stock Felon... And it's in the great Supreme plastic!
I was just comparing the meta plastic Razor Claw 3 to my Z Zones today.... It seems like the Socki Felon is to the RC3 as the regular Felon is to a Zone
Yeah that’s a solid comparison! I think that’s pretty accurate! The Sockibomb is a little more overstable and noticeable, but not super significant to be stupid overstable!
Eric Oakley loved the Felon! He had just about every type of Felon in his bag... I would assume the pros still bag Lucid-X or Hybrid-X on the windier days... because the regular felons just wouldn't hold up!
@@ApolloDiscGolf Thanks! I assumed they would want to advertise that if it was the new Sockibomb felon and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I am assuming it's the old felon mold as well. I will have to inspect it at my local shop, it will be a lot easier to identify thanks to your in depth review. Thanks again!
Yeah I'm not sure! I guess all these companies have that problem to figure out now that they are all starting to do custom discs for pros... Discraft is the only one where it makes sense with Paul since he signed a 10-year deal and it seems like he will be with them until he is done...
Likely it will simply be called the Supreme Felon. I tend to think this disc was coming with or without Ricky due to DD's decision to remake old molds with the new plastic instead of making new molds like Lat64.
Nearly 10% of my audience is from Finland, Sweden, Estonia, and that area… so I like to convert the distances and wind speeds and they have said they measure wind in m/s… so I like to put the conversions up there so it’s easier to watch! I would want the same if I were watching European content!

Glad he didn’t just make another lucid x tour series disc. So many lucid x runs have those weirdly shaped tall pointy domes.
Volcano topped
Those are my favorite. The lucid ice glimmer felons are 🔥
Yeah I haven't understood why they always have that volcano top! But these are definitely nice and flat!
@Apollo Disc Golf it's cause they use a little suction cup robot to move them around and when the x plastic is still cooling it acts a little weird when the machine gives it a hickey
@@NastyNateDag I'd argue it's the diff stiffness changing how the cooling pulls on the core. prob more extreme than regular lucid

Oh yeah, this is a solid compliment for a more overstable felon! but a workable lucid Felon is straight money!
Nice choice of a purple orbit to film with🐱
EMAW for life! 👌
Shawnee Mission Park!
its cool you have a brenthambrick fire bird! thats one of my local courses!

Great video! Very informative. I wonder how it compares to first run Z captain raptor 🤔
The Z ones are probably more overstable than this! Because the ESP ones are less stable, right?

Curious how you think these stack up against the Lucid Ice Glimmer Felons (that Ricky ran as his overstable Felon before this disc released)? :)
I haven't thrown those Felons! So I can't really say... sorry!
@@ApolloDiscGolf no problem. Thanks for the response. Great review!
I feel like every disc is getting more and more stable. Hell i threw a hades today and that thingh is more overstable than my first run "kong" zeus
Yeah… while you definitely need overstable discs, especially in the wind where I am… understable discs are definitely where it’s at in terms of go-tos
Major Felon fan !
Sweet, definitely want to try some...
Hope they continue to make regular Felons tho' !!
Yeah I would be surprised if they discontinued the original felon. Those are definitely still very popular and have a spot in their lineup!
@@ApolloDiscGolf Indeed !
Is this the same as the Ricky raptor eye felon?
I don't believe so! I think the Raptor eye ones are the normal Felons... But I could be wrong!

My only question is what happens if or when Ricky leaves DD or retires? Will they still be called Sockibomb Felons or will they have to rename them?

Seems like 9.5/4/0/4
That is a very good description! Definitely seems like it flies faster than the OG felon and still a little beefier!
Foot fault😂
