So I figured out how to do this a LONG time ago but did not recored the process in my records, maybe you can help me recall haha. How do you retain the "0" in the numbering scheme? So from 1 to 9 it would view as, 01, 02, 03 and so fourth.
I suppose it depends on what happens when you get to 10. Do you want 010 or go from 09 to 10? The easiest way would be to add 00 then add the ‘special character’ to the ‘0’ to the right. Does that makes sense? So there is always a 0 to the left of the number. I’m pretty sure they’ll be a proper way but this would work.
@@Paul_Greenwood When you get to 10 the 0 should drop off. This frustrates me because again I already solved this puzzle and here I am again smh. Im almost certain I wrote a GREP formula to achieve this. Whatever I did its embedded into the file because I copied it from an old doc and pasted it into a new one and the effect was lost.
@@Paul_Greenwood Appreciate the reply. For the sake of not getting bogged down I just put the page numbers in the master then for 1 though 9 I broke the link on the page for only the page numbers and then added in the '0' manually. This is the type of thing thats going to keep me from sleeping fully well until I resolve it. 😆😑

@@Paul_Greenwood Hey Paul, I figured it out if you want to know? Here is the procedure:
1. Set page numbers to auto count using normal method
2. Open the PAGES WINDOW/PANNEL
3. In the PAGES WINDOW click the dropdown menu (top right corner) > Select "Numbering & Section Options..."
4. In the NEW SECTION WINDOW that pops up > Look for PAGE NUMBERING. From the STYLE DROPDOWN MENU > Select the style "01,02,03..." > Click "ok" to save it.
That will add a "0" before each number from 1-9 then drop off the zero once the page count hits 10 and above. Good lord I can get a good nights rest now. 😎

The tutorial of how to start page numbering from fifth page of the layout, for example, and the most important, how to remove the page numbers before this "fifth page". Even show how you actually removed page1 number from your layout. The removal of the particular pages is the most unobservant topic in Indesign. People explain "how to add automatic page numbers" step by step, and then just mention that "the page number was removed from the previous page" How. do. you. actually remove a specific page number from the automatically numbered pages?
That's a great idea for a video. Happy to share how you'd go about it. Is it that you'd want page 4 to still be a page 4 (and numberd as 4) for or maybe start the page numbers from 1 from say page 4?
Let's say, I started the page numbering from page "5", that now says page "1" and so forth. But: before page "five - now1" the numbering still exists too. 1,2,3,4. So, how do you actually get rid of these 1,2,3,4s. I hope that I made myself clear. I hope.
Also, the topic for another video could be "the hanging quotation marks", that "step out of the text box. If you could do these types of educational videos, it would be great. (Sometimes, some steps in application seem so obvious to those who is familiar with it, but these little obstacles can drive the one who is not so proficient, crazy). I think he means....Like, I'm writing a children's book. I want page 1 to start on the first page of chapter 1. I don't want page numbers for any of the front matter. So i want the 8th page to be page 1.@@Paul_Greenwood
