    McCall was LL’s wake-up call that he needed to change trainers and become a more skilled, technical boxer. If LL hadn’t made the change, he would have been remembered as a talented, big HW, who was technically flawed and had a suspect chin. However he hired Manny, became a tremendous technician in the ring who held onto the title for a long time. His style wasn’t as crowd pleasing as his pre-McCall style was, but he learned a more technical, safety-first style that worked for him. However he had a number of exciting fights and he went onto be a top 10 HW great. The McCall fight was shocking, but Lennox got the message, and it helped him go from a technically flawed champion to a tremendous technical fighter with a big punch who held onto the title for a long time.

      @@bmcarpetcleaningandfloorca4410That’s true. He got put to sleep. But he did come back and beat Rahman in their rematch - which I think was his best fight. However, it’s hard for me to take him seriously of being a top 3 or 4 HW AT, because he never had a fight were he got off the canvas and beat a fighter. When he hit the canvas that was basically the end of the fight. He was hurt in different fights and still won, but he didn’t have a fight were he got off the canvas and won or even kept fighting, which is unlike just about every top 10 HW I can think of.

    This gentleman appeared to have a mental breakdown during a boxing match. He seemed to be disassociated, completely detached from the moment at hand, and unfortunately it was happening during a heavyweight fight. The man was only 50% in good health which was his physical health. The other 50% which makes us whole was his mental health whereas he was suffering. This was hard to watch, but the man was mentally ill and paid the price. Very sad to witness.

    After his withdrawal fight against Lennox, Oliver fought two fights in the same year in 1997, and he only suffered a mental breakdown in his career once, against Lennox.
    This is a lie and nonsense, and the man wanted to withdraw before he was eliminated by knockout, because this man, “Oliver,” had never been defeated in his career except by points, so he deceived the fools who believed him by withdrawing and crying. . If he was honest, he would have asked for a third fight against Lennox
    After that fight, it is logically impossible for a man to fight two fights in the same year after withdrawing and crying, and then continue his entire career like that and not collapse except on that night in which he withdrew and cried. I still marvel at the stupidity of those who believed him.

      @oOorabe7oOo.
      Oliver, who cried like a baby and walking round the ring like a spoiled brat, is far more of a disgrace compared to being knocked out! Oliver knew earlier on after the first few rounds that he was beaten, but instead of doing the honourable thing by declaring that he could not go on anymore and have the fight stopped, then he would have at least kept his honour, but instead, he lost both that and the fight.

      No reason to show contempt for people.
      Actually, they have the more likely & reasonable position.
      But they are likely not to be so demeaning to you....
      There is no logical reason to believe that it is remotely "impossible" for a man to fight twice again within a year.
      Research mental illness & breakdowns.
      Then that McCall frequently had severe substance abuse problems.
      And he had just completed a rehab stint.
      And that he sometimes quit in training if he could not land shots-as said below.
      No cause to assume him "dishonest" either.
      He was likely not in a mental or physical state to make demanding a fight advisable.
      And most fighters do not get a third shot at the same champion-let alone with those problems.
