I have been praying for the last 1 week if God is saying YES to my homeschooling my kids. This is the 1st year I have the confidence to move forwards. THIS WAS AN ANSWER TO PRAYER. Great guidance!

As a homeschool (on and off) kid, I can 100% relate to what you are saying Kim! I was trained to naturally be a lifelong learner. My mom constantly relied on God’s Grace and heart (as He is our ultimate Teacher), telling Him “she’s your kid Lord!” to help teach me as a child. I look back on my years of being homeschooled as such a gift and true blessing. They were seasons of being kept safe and being able to bloom well because of it. I had actually been taken out of public school in 1st grade due to physical teacher abuse (making some kids bleed among other horrible things). I highly recommend to all parents that getting the chance to “train up your child in the way they should go” is the opportunity of a lifetime! Don’t let others you don’t know and can’t fully trust raise your kids! What a God-given purpose that each parent has been given. All of those fears of homeschool kids being socially stunted are complete LIES! I was that kid like Wyatt on the playground, making friends and not being afraid. I was always the kid in class (when I was back in public school) to talk with teachers, even help other kids ask questions when they felt too scared to approach teachers with things. Thank you Kim for shedding light on this and helping to advocate for such a beautiful and God-ordained way we can steward our children, helping to create incredible “common-sense” thinkers for our society, and bring family back to its original design. I pray for all parents who watch this video and read these comments to be so filled with Grace and Compassion for their sweet children. I pray that God’s will would be done in your lives and that homeschooling would never appear to be scary or impossible for you! #homeschoolersROCK 🥳

I have homeschooled for 28 years. I was a first grade teacher for 5 years before we had kids. Then I had 10 kids and homeschooled them all. We teach according to their interests, too. We pretty much unschooled. 8 of my kids have graduated and are doing well in life. I'm still homeschooling the youngest 2. I absolutely love homeschooling. I try to encourage homeschoolers to continue doing it in a way that is sustainable and enjoyable for everyone. We definitely have to experiment with different curricula. And creating life-long learners is what it's all about!

I was thrown into being a homeschool mama 9 years ago when my sons medical needs required it! I've LOVED every minute of it! My brain is naturally wired for it now and everyday is homeschooling. It's a blast! Great online communities. Lots of help out there. Your never alone! I was terrified when I first began, but so happy God gave me the opportunity to do this with my youngest. My older kids went through the public school system like myself, but what a blessing God gave me to homeschool through such a trialed time in our family. He's faithful and just so good!

I call homeschooling familyschooling because of the way it bonds family members together, and the way that we learn to treat each other kindly and with compassion. Older children help with younger children, and they learn to have patience with others. They learn to handle conflict. They learn to feel secure with their place in the family, and their family identity becomes meaningful to them.

    Well said!
Exactly what we have been doing for eight years. 3 girls, all home schooled. They do everything with us.
They struggle learning with different things because they are all individuals.
Our oldest (16) is now doing Year 11 online with State school teachers and is thriving. She is also able to do casual work during the day while other kids are in the classroom.
Another daughter (13) is pursuing busking in public. She already plays guitar and sings in church and doing public outreach.
There is so much flexibility in the life of a homeschooler.

You are beautiful and courageous! Our 2nd son (of 4) sent me this link as he is one of your biggest music fans.
We pulled all 4 of our boys out of private Christian school when they started pushing vaccines, when they were in 2nd - 10th grades. Since then, the Lord has blessed our entire family dynamic beyond what we could ask, think or imagine!
Homeschooling is just full time parenting. Parents not believing the Lord has given them exactly what they need to fully raise their own children He Himself has blessed them with, is one of the biggest triumphs of the enemy!

This video gives me a sense of peace and joy in thinking about homeschooling in the future. I have found it so intimidating especially the more I dove into seeing all the books ($$$) and curriculums and wondering which one I should choose that would be satisfactory for my state's laws and also help my kid to grow. I've been liking the Charlotte Mason approach of "Mother Culture" in which the premise is that as a mom, you are to dedicate time for yourself- 30 minutes- to read books (you juggle between stiff books, easy to read books, and novels) that will stretch your own growth. It is a time of learning and growing for yourself. This is so that you can truly be an educator that is growing, just as you want your kids to grow in their learning. That daily habit is to be the antithesis to being stagnant, a state that homeschooling moms can find themselves in. Thank you for sharing this lovely message!

I love this!!! We had always planned to homeschool, but when it came down to it, I got really scared. My son had a huge number of food allergies, though, so the desire to keep him safe gave me the final push I needed, and we jumped in. We made mistakes. We struggled with consistency. We’re still making and learning from mistakes. But my kids are learning and growing, and I am learning and growing right along with them. And we get to tie all these things they are learning back to our wise and wonderful Creator, and discipleship. It’s not always easy. But it is so beautiful. And getting to see how they each learn differently and what they have in common…absolutely priceless .

I have 2 boys and a little girl too! Wish we were neighbors 😅❤
I never thought we’d be homeschooling!!! It’s the hardest yet most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life and I’m so grateful we GET to do this!
I love how you say that you know your kids in such an intimate way! Oh my gosh to have these years with them!! Yes of course it’s not perfect every day but this is a calling and I’m always asking God - OK YOU need to make our agenda here cuz I don’t know what I’m doing!! Anyway my kids are yes extremely social on all levels. It’s so funny when people think homeschooling is like sheltering your kids. Nope- we are building a foundation and learning outdoors and meeting other homeschoolers. Life is so limited sitting inside a classroom with 4 walls
I bet your youngest will learn everything fast because she hears everything you’re teaching the boys!
Anyway I could go on and on about this stuff!! I love it so much.
Absolutely loved this video Kim and love your take on homeschool! We are doing it, girl!!!

    Dear Kim Walker-Smith,
You have an underrated career path and lifestyle. There is so much pressure regarding the real world being cooler than Christianity. Let’s not be naive to how much bad can be out there. Not developing depression, anxiety, and a peer pressure inspired career path can be a priceless thing about homeschooling. A young person, even a Christian, can begin a wrong path simply by thinking they are not adequate based on seeing a friend in school having better school photos, crayons, shoes, etc. Avoiding curriculum contrary to a parent’s beliefs is less important than how homeschooling can keep kids from regretting the time they spent meeting painful peer standards.

Could not agree more, having been homeschooled for the last half of my school years was such a blessing. Went to a “Christian” private school for the first half (let me tell you, Christian schools are not as Christian as you think).
We discovered a program called Civil Air Patrol (CAP), which is the volunteer auxiliary of the US Air Force that focuses on leadership, aerospace, emergency services, and other important things. While it offers benefits for those joining the military, it is not a “recruiting” program by any means, and a significant percentage of them are homeschooled. CAP has become a core part of my family’s curriculum because of the amazing things we have been able to take advantage of in this organization, including getting my private pilot’s license largely through CAP.
CAP does have its flaws, but it has been such a blessing for my family and me personally.

My Son Callum was born 2001 and when he was 15 months old his mother demanded that I take him off her hands as apparently he was “lashing out” at her. Anyway at the age of 19 I became a single parent father and gave up my computer ambitions to raise my son as a lone parent. Callum spent his first year in the school system until I became increasingly appalled and down right disturbed by the UKs educational policies. Long story short, I took my son out of government brainwashing propaganda schools and became my son’s teacher and mentor and spiritual father. ❤

Hi Kim, you are so very honest and right about home schooling. The Lord sent me and my daughter, she was 10 yes old, on a 3 year Sabatical. She landed up at a Christian Academy that taught the A C E curicculum. I did not know it at all, she had gone to Government School from Gr 1 up to Gr 4. She thrived at Ace, you learned at your own pace.... Thank you for sharing your adventure with us all. I'm now 69 yrs young and Caitlan is still thankful for that time in her life. It was amazing! I was a teacher for 15 yrs and a parent/mom who wishes that I would have had the courage, follow through, support, to have homeschooled my own kids. However, during summers and weekends I would try to do different activities with them to encourage learning, discovering new things, and to help them find what they liked and were curious about. Like you said, it does have to be intentional. My kids are older now, but thinking about it now reminds me how much I enjoyed doing those things with them. Good memories ❤❤❤

    ‭I Corinthians 12:14-26 NKJV‬
[14] For in fact the body is not one member but many. [15] If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? [16] And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? [17] If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? [18] But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. [19] And if they were all one member, where would the body be? [20] But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. [21] And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” [22] No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. [23] And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, [24] but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, [25] that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. [26] And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
    Thank you for sharing ❤️
Truly, we have different talents... Some struggle through the school while others have it easier... but it all works for the good who fear the Lord.
I hear you speaking as not only a mother but as a manager, you see how your children are different and what motivates them to learn. In many companies, there are many managers with wrong motives 😔
