Wow ! It lives and drives. This is one of the best videos I have ever seen. It is a victory for all of us that watched. Thanks for not giving up on this car.
We will push forward until it's on the road.
man, I love the sound of that ol' Flattie.
It's really growing in me!
It’s beautiful Ginger. I’m so happy you never quit on this American Icon. Can’t wait for what you’ll do to it next.👍👍🇨🇦
We are plugging away but the fact I can drive it in and out of the garage makes we way more motivated to push forward!
@@madgingercustoms go get brother, I’m an old hvac guy up here in Canada.
Hopefully he f20c swaps it
@@joshuacoleman2530 boosted.
Thanks for an honest video of home garage wrenching on rusty cars!
Unfortunately I can't afford the non rusty cars lol.
Love the shoebox! It is a rust bucket but you are turning that around in your own time so nicely! That floor really came out super!
Slowly plugging ahead!
It's looking better and better all the time. Would like to see a video of the car when it is being pressure washed just to see how much rust washes off.
That can be arranged!
Carry a 12 volt tire air pump in trunk
That's going to have to happen I think.
Good seeing the car running and moving, congrats on the tire machine video. It was very good, I plan on making one
Thanks for checking out our videos!!
I enjoy yours as well!
I really like that car you’re doing a good job
Thanks!
Love the flex seal in the background!
I'll coat the entire car in it if I have to.
I'm not a huge fan of lowering vehicles, but I do enjoy watching you puzzle your way through things and watching you work.
Jess doesn't like me lowering stuff either. She refused me dropping her 64 F100.
Do not touch my truck! 😂
@@madgingercustoms To me it just makes the car less useful while adding more things that can break or fail.
@@iamgrowler this old girl isn't carrying anything but my fat ass and the little hot ginger.
@@MadGingerJess🤣😂
That car, that stance, all are just awesome, great job!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Lowered one in 1958 by putting 4 inch blocks on back and cutting 1 coil in front.
Worked great.
Was yours nose high on the front or level?
Love the channel. Thank you for sharing.❤️😎
Thanks for watching our channel!
It’s coming together! I suggest cleaning and neutralizing the rust in the undercarriage.
We will definitely be cleaning it. Maybe some Sweet Patina underneath?
Time to take the shoebox on a drive down a very bumpy road where 'shake loose the cobwebs' is the ultimate understatement.
It will look like a tornado going down the road!
Nicely done!!!
Thanks! Can't wait for this graphics videos!
So satisfying pulling it out under its own power. Need to get back to work on my desoto.
I just subbed your channel. Get back on that car!!!! Thanks for checking out our channel!
Looks Great....perfect stance
Thank you!
Love the stance on the shoe box! Keep some air in the air shocks Brother
Absolutely!
Great job Dave. Keep going Brother!
Thanks man!!!
Excided To See More on the Shoebox. Jack stands under rear axle put under frame & axle drop make mounting wheels easier. It Be a Pain but take out front spings & shorten them. You probably Figured that all Ready. Looks Super Kool!
Great to Have Wife Cheering You On!
I was going to get another set of control arms that are not as bad and then do it all at once with new king pins and bushings.
Need to put the jack under the frame, let rear axle drop down, tires should go on, works for me..
Sounds like a good thought. I'll give it a shot!
That's how I do it 👍
I wanna get one of those HF tire changers , I have to get some rollers on , I'm sure I'll procrastinate until they're out of stock .
They are sold everywhere. Amazon, eBay, etc...
Our east coast customs were all low in the back and high in front we thought it was cool!
Yeah, this thing with no air in the shocks is a tail dragger!
Good.job😄👍👍👏👏👏Nice car 😍
Thanks for watching!!
So. Great ol car. My 2 cents. Not telling you how to do or what to paint.. My '54....Ive found, is to take drum off. gives just enough room to slip 205 70 15 up into wheel well....flat like Back to the Future. Reach behind...slip drum on....and drop wheel down. Then adjust brakes. Sounds harder than it is. But it is so close....it gives you just enough on Mine. I can do it without any huge wrenching.......side of road (maybe.....havnt had to). Keep at it, Im a fan of this ol girl. Good job man.
That is great advice! Thank you!
Sweet!!
Thanks!
so now you just need to put it on a lift ,then wire wheel & flapper disc the underside. see what needs a patch,or support bar. spray it with something. thenall you need is the earl schribe $29.95 paint job. stay well
Miss the old days of cheap paint jobs. Fun fact, I'll throw down a harbor freight paint gun job on this car! Never painted anything before. That may be entertaining.
Nice job buddy!
I hope you don't have to take a second mortgage worth of quarters to clean that pile! LMAO
Thanx for a great vid!
Thanks for sticking with us!!
Jeep guy 👍🏻🇦🇺💯⛽️still not a fan of air shocks 🤦🏼🤔though. Nice model Ford .
They were next to free lol!
You might check out Travis at RAC Garage ,he flipped the uprights on his shoebox ,I don't remember how much drop he got .
I know this is common practice as well. I think that nets 3" and then you heat and bend or get a camber correction kit.
@@madgingercustoms Yea ,that's it ,the kit .
Enjoyed the video. Nearly bought one for my first car. Might be a little low in the rear?
It is a bit low but I like the stance. The air shocks will be helpful.
Maybe lol
I wasn’t putting it down I felt you want options? Anyway great job on a project that could have gone to the scrap yard. I love project that save cars from being destroyed or even made better. Again great job
You will need to change that engine old a few time . 👍🏻🇦🇺
She's still kickin though for now!!
Cool project, though i never really understood the lowering thing. Why exactly did you decide to lower it? Great job nonetheless!
It's more to achieve a specific look. Also, using the Aerostar springs gives it a better ride overall.
Lol moxie hat I break my father's balls about Moxie and his PF flyers 🤣 so funny your wearing that hat made my night
Thanks for watching! I got this hat at Clark's trading post up in New Hampshire!
@madgingercustoms that's where the old man is from Manchester NH lives in CT now lol too funny
well your the one who has to be happy and i think you did really good EXCEPT should have been at the most a 2 inch drop yes i know the entire package for 150 bucks but having to reduce the tire pressure to 15 lbs and inflate the air shocks to max car karma will come for you with a flat in the rear when you least expect it or want it heheh but still a very entertaining can't wait to see what you (the mad hatter) does next
The mad hatter! 😂😂😂 I like that.
I honestly think you are spot on!! And I'll think of you when that happens lol. Thanks for watching!
@@MadGingerJess see i just gave you a good name to give him hehehe and i hope he got a chuckle too
@@madgingercustoms hey i love your videos because i miss the old cars todays have no lines or class
@@ronaldrhoades9783 Jess says that all the time.
I think it will settle enough
It will or it gets lowered more in the front. Lol
@@madgingercustoms very true
Tighten them to arkansas? Hahah Dave down here we don’t have rust. Or teeth
I'll tighten them all the way to stallionville!
😂😂😂
I wouldn't have struggled putting that wheel on like that . I'm not that patient. I probably would've changed that spacer right than. I wouldn't want to go through that with a tire change on side of a road. But that is just my opinion. A 2 inch spacer is much easier to make than changing that tire . But it's what ever you want to deal with for the look you want.
I think if it was a driver that we used a lot it may be different. She's got a way to go!
Jacking up the body rather than the axle would give more clearance at top of tyre, most stock jacks are the scissor type
We want turbo🙏
Sounds like a plan!!
Put a pinto front-end in it
S10 frame literally lines right up. I think I'd go that way.
Gday... Lol @ the whole car is corroded bro comment!! hahaha
Lol. I noticed your latest video the bug gets a new radiator huh? Lol.
@@madgingercustoms yeah you should check it out!! I spared no expenses on that sucka 2, state of the art!! Hahaha
@@madgingercustoms seriously just trolling for views!!
@madgingercustoms your car is coming together though man idling like a boss!! Nice stance!! I learnt a long time ago wash the under carriage before doing any serious work!! Lol that was one of the first beetle vids probably and very glad I did I can't stand getting crap in my eyes!!
Cut two spring off the front that's will drop it 2inch
1/2 coil equates to about an inch.
Will see
What shocks are they
The rears were used Gabriel shocks. The front shocks are kyb and the link is in the description.
Take the lowering blocks out. It won't be worth the trouble to get the tires off.
I'd rather struggle to keep it low!
3inch is way to low sorry to say 1/half you be better of an less headache 😢. 👍🏻🇦🇺
Worst case I'll tear it all out and bag it.
I live off dirt roads, and my 51 does just fine with 3in blocks and drop spindles. I'm also running the original tire size. If you want to go a little lower in the back use 51 shackles.
What kind of camera are you using? 19:08
GoPro 10.
@@madgingercustoms thanks
It was never a heap. In the beginning it just had alot of unnecessary character. The more you work on it The less heapish it becomes...NICE JOB
I figured, I can't really make it worse! Lol
3in is a little much
Wish my wife said that.
2in would be better
Agreed.
Is RUclips dumping comments on your channel, or are you?
Meaning what? Removing comments? We don't do that and I'm not sure RUclips would do that.
@@madgingercustomson the comments section of this video it doesn't tell you how many comments you have. Normally it does. I posted a comment earlier, and now it's disappeared.
@@John-yp9bg really? I can see the total comments. I asked Jess and she said she could too. That's odd. We do not remove or delete any comments ever. Not even the negative ones.
@@madgingercustomsnow it's showing 99 comments, but earlier it wasn't showing anything.
Kroil those rusty bolts…
I used aerokroil liberally on everything for weeks. I also used PB. Came back weeks later and it appeared dry and I went with the ugga dugga gun.
And replace with new hardware. No point putting back 75 year old bolts when new shoebox parts are easy to get.
Take some air out of it and go in
Yup!!
