- In this video I compare BulkDominoes with Lamping Dominoes. There are some little differences and I show you these in the video. Lamping Dominoes are made in Germany and BulkDominoes are made in Ohio/USA. So for people who live in USA, BulkDominoes are cheaper and for those people who live in Germany, Lamping Dominoes are cheaper. I hope you like my new video.

NOTE: This was written a long time ago and is somewhat out of date info...
BD thickness is slightly different, if you put enough together (50) there is a difference. Also, based on the BD samples I have Lamping's transparent dominoes are more clear/polished (but have a lot of those poor edges to fix), I assume they start to get scratched up after a while though. BD's have fewer flaws.
UPDATE Jan/2016 - Bulkdominoes has new clear dominoes now, they are very glossy and clear, look like smooth glass. (the logo sticks out under certain lighting conditions though)

Interesting video :-) For the sound and the speed you would have to compare dominoes of the same color. Lampings in different colors sound extremely different from one another, and the topple at a different speed.

Only mistake was that bulk dominoes are slightly thicker. Other than that solid video! this would really be a good way to compare them for anyone who wants to start dominoes.
Yea, I came down here to say the same thing, I learned that the hard way when I built a tower with both bulk dominoes and lamping dominoes. Great video though, this is a great guide for people wondering which to buy!
I didn't knew that! I thought that they have the same size. On BulkDominoes Website it says that they are 48 x 24 x 7,5 mm and on Maria Lamping's ebay page it also says that they are 48 x 24 x7,5 mm. Thanks for telling me!

Personally, I have BulkDominoes and feel that they don't give exactly 100. I've had bins with 97 or 98. However, due to the hassle asking for colors for Lampings and the risk of some dominoes not getting made right is just too much. Plus, I live in 2 days shipping of BulkDominoes warehouse so...
Most of the time, Lamping will give you 5 to 10 more dominoes than the amount you want, which is good because it makes up for the misshapen or deformed ones you get.

Wirklich guter Vergleich. Ich finde dass BulkDominoes nur besser sind weil sie mehr verschiedene Farben zur Auswahl haben. Aber wenn man diesen Apsekt vernachlässigt glaube ich sind Lampings vorne. :D

When i heard about the mini bulk dominoes I went to their website and was going to buy some of these. but if your purchase price is higher than 25€, you have to pay extra taxes... +shipping cost anyways. So without taxes I would pay around 50 / 60€ for just 400 mini dominoes...

The bulk ones look way more appealing since they aren't as glossy and slippery (which would be really useful when building piramids and stuff), but if I ordered 11 colours (100 stones each) it'd cost me $143.89. The shipping cost to the Netherlands would be $97.40. That is 68% of the original price added for shipping costs. That's insane!
It's a great way to discourage people from buying stuff from other countries..
(If I ordered it from china it would take a few weeks, but it would be free. Somewhere there is someone really screwing everyone over in America and/or the EU)
Im sorry for you but maybe you could move to the states because it is cheaper there. I live in california but if i were to get 500 bulk dominoes the total would be $98.78 so don't be discouraged even in the US there are high prices. On the topside i don't think amazon has that kind of fee so if you were to get either mixed bulk pack, black, or royal blue it would be cheaper

If bulk dominoes are thicker, then does one of them have the correct dimensions of that the thickness is a third of the width, or a sixth of the length? I like 4.8 x 2.4 x 0.6 cm dominoes.

I you live in america, shipping if free, but if you live in other areas, shipping can be more expensive than the product itself. Ex. If you buy 100 red dominoes, thats $13, but (the cheapest shipping) can be $27, and I you live in canada (like me) the price changes so much thak you're looking at $40 dominoes!

O.R. Dominos I use both of them. I have 13700 Lamping Dominoes and only 1200 BulkDominoes, so it depends on what I want to build

I am aswell from germany and I have a few thousands of Lamping dominoes. but I never got a deformed domino like the white one shown in the video. i got dominoes where 2 dominoes were stuck together but i splitted them and then i had 2 normal dominoes...
i got the dominoes you were talking about, when i see it i burst into laughter and then i dropped it accidentally and they split apart, then i was sad because i dont have any unique domino

How do you remove the frayed edges on Lampings? I set something up an hour ago (still not toppled, waiting a bit) and I had a little trouble with that.
Normally I turn the domino or I try to remove it.
When I get mine, I take a few hours watching tv and line them up and look for them in groups, flip them over and check the other side, repeat. Then I scrape them down with something metal. Still run into a few when setting up, that I can just toss aside and scrape later.

When I'm building i check the new domino's and rub them over my jeans to get rid of the frayed edges.
I always picked. the frame edges off with something sharp, or your nail. I have lots and lots of Lamping Dominoes.

I don't know. Maybe just buy Lamping dominoes. I also live in Europe, but I actually want Bulk dominoes. But I ordered a sample pack from Lamping dominoes, it's free. When I get them, I will see weither or not I like them. But sometimes when you ship something from America to Europe you have to pay extra douane costs. And also shipping costs. That's a lot of money.
