What you guys know is exactly what we want for every tourist here to learn. Scammers are everywhere and we're not even going to deny that, but that doesn't mean we want that for every tourist. When you learn the in & outs of our country, that's where you learn the full experience of living in the Philippines. The hospitality of Filipinos are unrivaled, but don't let that get your guard down because its the same thing that would be used to take advantage of tourists and get scammed.
All correct! As a Filipino in Baguio City, I'm shocked at the audacity of the taxi scammers in Manila. What are the local authorities doing about it? Aren't people reporting them to the local police? The LTFRB or whoever is responsible should be keeping an eye on these scammers. How embarrassing!
Scammers are reported to LTFRB but they're useless, not doing anything. The LTFRB will apprehend one and show them on TV, but it's all just for PR. It's really up to the LGU but it seems the LGUs in Metro Manila are scammers as well. I envy Baguio people. Embarrassing? Makapal mukha nila. Some taxi companies are owned by politicians like congressmen and senators and government officials. That's why scammers gets away.
I think you guys by far are one of the best foreign travelers who really does their research. You travel like local and even does things like a local. You guys adapt so well. As a Filipino who watched your vlogs.
Add to what they said, if you're traveling to PH or other countries in south east asia, you have to lower your expectations. Don't expect the convenience or infrastructures you have in your own country. PH is safe much safer than the USA. No mass shootings here or racial hate. Or terrorists bombing. Streets are secure because of CCTV installed in every streets of manila. Would be criminals are easily caught. Security guards are everywhere so no shooting inside our malls. Taxis scammers are everywhere or all over the world but depends on you if you want to scammed. Dont be paranoid if people approach you, Filipinos are just friendly.
hands down to these guys who are so knowledgeable about the things to do in phils. amazing. amazing info! I watch your vlog since doing reactions from sb19 and now your'e here! EPIIIIC !!! keep it up and more power to your channel :)
If you want to eat cheap but good food, try to eat at the carinderia... Sometimes it is called as turo turo ( point point) you point the food you want to eat.
As always I like your insights, it's spot on! Getting around Manila can be a struggle. The traffic is horrendous and the public transport is not efficient.
most accurate tips for travelers, and it applies to both foreigners and locals (people from the provinces especially) tip no.2 is very true (airport scam) this is spot on. by the way, i am filipino.
hi I live here in the Philippines and it's so hot for most of the year here in the Philippines we Pilipinos are kind and are always here to help new arrival here and we also speak english
there is a section outside of the airport where you can find a line of metered taxis, an airport personel is managing it. It´s like about a minute or 2 walk from the airport lobby
Thanks biscuit boyz for giving tips and reminders to all tourists travelers a big help for foreighners like you .And thanks for patience and kindness while staying here in the philippines.God bless you two.👍✌😄🙏🇵🇭
Grab cars here were not scammers but the price varies depending on the hours and location where you will ride them. If you will ride them on hidden areas on a non busy hours it will be cheaper. But if you will book them during busy hours especially on malls, airports or any main areas it will be expensive. Price change depending on demands on a certain location and certain hours. If more people are trying to book grab cars, price will rise up in a matter of seconds.
Facts, Isaac & Tyler. Hope you stay a bit longer in the 🇵🇭. Either way, so glad you came over & vlog here. You're now so knowledgeable of the country. And you're both hilarious. 😂❤ Watching from Down Under 🇦🇨.
The details and infos are very helpful! Your wit and adaptablity is impressive as well! Geez this vid really shows how much time you've already spent in the PH ,you even know more things than us locals haha, travel and food wise! Thanks Tyler, thanks Isaac!🤘😊
You haven’t been in the Ilocos Region yet? From there you can make a loop and go to the Cagayan valley , Isabella and Nueva Ecija. The president is from Ilocos Norte.Try it , you may like it.
A tip if you want a cheaper ride from the airport., this is good if you travel light. go outside the airport, you"ll easily find a regular taxi or even just a jeepney going to your destination or use the jeepney to go to MRT or LRT. Like in Naia 3, go out the arrival area, cross the street going to Newport direction, you can easily get a taxi or jeepney there.
Plane tickets price in the Philippines is usually not constant, that's their business strategy, the peak season will be so expensive in both air and sea fare but air is more higher, but when the passengers become low they will make 50% off or even lesser but it will take advanced booking😬 the longer the book the cheaper 😁 business strategy
I’m coming to Philippines next month. I was wondering how you use your day to day spending. Do you guys pay a lot of cash or do you guys sometimes pay your international card. Have you tried to withdraw money in Philippines without getting fees? Thanks 😊
I use my credit card always where they take it. The reason is the correct exchange rate is always right. And of course I use cash when they don’t take my visa. I go2 black market like Villarica to buy some pesos. However lately their exchange rate is not much better than the banks. I’m not sure if you have to have an account in the bank though. Then you have no choice but to use 🏧. I never use it.
whether you're charged fees is dependent on the card or bank you use abroad. most have fees for intl withdrawals afaik. you can use a credit or debit card in bigger stores/restos, particularly in malls.
Once i was in Pasay EDSA area going to the airport and hop on a taxi. The moment i sat down the driver said 200 pesos and not using the meter. He said coz it's traffic wherever. Fine, I got out and ride on a jeepney, it was only 12 pesos. since it's traffic anyway, same route, same distance, same amount of time to get to the airport. His taxi is unpleasant anyway and the aircon is not that cool.
Oh this is very informative and useful! careful for taxis everywhere! i experienced it myself!!! well, just like any other places in the world you are travelling... take extra careful! might as well ride a bus... Chinese inverstors of Grab have decided to buy Uber to kill competition that's why its so expensive now! Nuts!
They do not check the QR codes upon arrival anymore. They do not check them on departure either but i always get them anyway for both arrival and departure. If you are going to exchange your money there are a few banks and forex shops after exiting customs. Sometimes Metrobank gives good rates. BDO fairly good rates and the forex on the right hand side once you exit just across the restaurant. outside of the airport Sanry's, Czarina and BDO have good rates. i heard Kabayan is a forex that my friend uses too.
Well said guy's be aware and pay attention where ever u go... Because it is what it is in Philippines particularly ur valuable item. :),I'm from Philippines tho.
Manila is to blame for the bad reputation of the Philippines for the most part. My phone was snatched there too. Baguio and Iloilo don’t scam people base on my experience either.
I love how you gave awareness for everybody. Actually, this does not only apply to foreigners but also to locals who are first time traveling around the country. They are often scammed as well.
Grab is ecpensive because they compute extra charges depending on how busy the raaffic is, it aso depends on how many drivers ar on duty.. plus if its raining, you cant even get a taxi at all.. very impossible..
No 12 tip: dont be afraid to ask for help or directions , surely someone will help u, or maybe scam u? If u land in the philippines, go straight ro baguio and hike like these guys 😊😊😊
Taxi drivers, tricycle drivers are notorious scammers. There are some honest drivers but very far in between. Why the govt allows this to happen is beyond me particularly because there is a massive drive to promote tourism . Scammers are a total turn-off to tourists both local and international. Why do I say this? I am Filipino and my family and I are always scammed because my children do not speak the local languages. Speak English and you automatically become a prime target for scammers particularly from drivers( taxi, tricycle) although you can take the LRT, MRT, bus lines and jeepneys. Angkas and Joyride at the back of a motorbike are fine too but does require some guts and balls and if you survive the ride in one piece, you just experienced a thrilling ride in an amusement park! Trifate, thank you for the honest, straightforward and accurate advise. You did forget to mention watching the safety of your belongings not only around Metro Manila but particularly upon arrival and departure from the airport particularly NAIA. Big items can disappear but specially small items such as cell phones or maybe air pods as it passes through the X-Ray machines. Somehow, they vanish as they go through those machines. This is not BS because we experienced it during our recent trip from Manila exiting through NAIA!
Scammers victimize not only the foreigners but also the locals especially people from the provinces. I hope the authorities will be able to address these issues.
The reason why Grab is becoming expensive nowadays is 1. Grab considers traffic beforehand (if it’s surge time, expect high price) knowing Manila’s traffic state you’ll get wrecked hard. 2. Uber used to be the alternative for Grab, and is cheaper but they were acquired by Grab here in the PH. Fuck Monopoly 3. Grab is cheaper in the cities outside of the capital 4. Grab is paying a lot of Government sanctions due to reimbursement issues. They got exposed recently. As for other forms of transport, everything sucks! Hence, why I’m forced to use a car anytime I go out. If you are a tourist who can’t bear long lines, uncomfortable commutes, etc, you might need to wait at-least 2 years so that the new subway lines and LRT lines are done. It’s difficult in Metro Manila right now because infra projects blocks a lot of main arterial road. You may also prefer to skip the city entirely and go to the islands directly, unless you want to know the history of Manila and its cuisine. BGC isn’t really that different to other modern city in the world, you may skip it if you like, unless you are a foreign vlogger making content 😂😂😂 Make an itinerary in advanced and plan your day. It’s not like in SG, HK, or Melbourne where mobility isn’t an issue.
I may or may not live here so... 1. GrabCar/Taxi is expensive yes, but they do track your location relative to how far you are from your destination + the expected route you will take. Price adds up, but not a bad choice if you're not familiar with a place (like first time to mall X or something). Prices vary a lot depending on time of day + number of passengers looking for a ride vs available (roaming) drivers. 2. When getting on to ANY taxi, best to be on a call if possible at least for the first minute or 2 (saying you got on the taxi and will be there in X minutes). Should deter a few sus taxi drivers at least. 3. Back pockets bad, DEEP side pockets better, pockets with zippers even better. Or just get one of those small wallets that have a string/rope that you wear around your neck and tuck it in your shirt (or a small beltbag). Just bring enough loose bills (few thousand pesos at most) and creditcards of choice in that wallet, and coins (you will need coins sooner or later) in your pocket.
On the pay attention part... There is a running joke in Pinoys that if you saw someone carrying their back pack in front or in their chest instead in their back... even in another country... for sure, that person is Pinoy. We got used to putting our bags i front to avoid getting pick pocketed. 😂
Flying to the Philippines in two weeks and you just made us want to cancel our trip. Scams, traffic jams, a foreigner getting shot. Oh my. We didn't think it was that bad.
It’s ok it’s not a dangerous country. They said just be aware of your surroundings. Don’t wear your nice jewelry. You will stick out if you’re white and tall. I was just in the biggest mall in the Philippines also known as MOA. There are tons of foreigners. One dress like a Batman 😂 Idk what it was all about?! You will have a fun time. Been living here a few years and still can’t get used to it.
If it's as bad as you think, why are both Isaac and Tyler still in the Philippines - still breathing and alive after 7 months of staying in the country? And a foreigner getting shot? That's more of an isolated incident. Aren't the mass shootings in the US scarier? how many of those since the start of 2023? 4 or 5? Have not heard of any in the Philippines.
i want to shake your hands... good job guys... i know you are not going to stay here permanently, .. hope you were.... but good luck guys... wherever you go in the world...

I am a filipina frequent taveler, but still if new in a new local destination, STILL GET SCAMMED, DECEIVED, TAKEN ADVANTAGED, FOOLED, OVERPRICED, especially if they know that you are not from that area. Different people, man, woman, even old lady... would sweet talk me, and so I believe, and there, I'm a victim
@@Draconiandevil-e9k Totoo lahat ng sinabi nila. Paano maayos ang serbisyo kung gusto nyong laging isu-sugarcoat ang lahat ng problema sa Pilipinas. pls advice them to secretly video or docement everything when a taxi tried to not use their meters and report them to the next police or traffic enforcers or land transportation office for immediate filing of cases against these rogue taxi drivers
you forgot to mention that stores don't want to accept 1,000 or 500 peso bills if you are buying small items because they don't want to waste their precious small bills to break your money
I hope the DOT is watching this. They need to do a better job in getting rid of airport taxis who scam travelers. The transport system in the country sucks so this is the least they can do.

Scammers victimize not only the foreigners but also the locals especially people from the provinces. I hope the authorities will be able to address these issues.
The reason why Grab is becoming expensive nowadays is
1. Grab considers traffic beforehand (if it’s surge time, expect high price) knowing Manila’s traffic state you’ll get wrecked hard.
2. Uber used to be the alternative for Grab, and is cheaper but they were acquired by Grab here in the PH. Fuck Monopoly
3. Grab is cheaper in the cities outside of the capital
4. Grab is paying a lot of Government sanctions due to reimbursement issues. They got exposed recently.

Does this mean you're leaving guys? It's making me sad and cannot imagine without you making us laugh. Please stay. BTW, Isaac you forgot to tell them to always squeeze the antenna of Jollibee mascot.😅
I saw Filipino Boo vlog. They went to Korea. And their back here in the Phils.
I think they need to exit so they can renew their stay here.
In short, you need to be wise but nice when you go to the Philippines.
Hi TriFate, Please watch "Is This RUclipsr Expoiting Filipinos in the Philippines?" by Mergim Vlogs
Why do try to visit somalia or other countries in Africa
Correct.

Totoo lahat yan.
@@Draconiandevil-e9k so anong problema mo? Bakit naggagalaiti ka diyan kapag may constructive criticisms sila? No one’s forcing you to watch them, so kung hindi ka natutuwa sa kanila, stop with your trash-talking and find other vloggers to follow!!!
@@nathanblue iyak, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
pls advice them to secretly video or docement everything when a taxi tried to not use their meters and report them to the next police or traffic enforcers or land transportation office for immediate filing of cases against these rogue taxi drivers
you forgot to mention that stores don't want to accept 1,000 or 500 peso bills if you are buying small items because they don't want to waste their precious small bills to break your money
so sad about taxi scams.. this will never gonna be corrected
Go to BATANES
I hope the DOT is watching this. They need to do a better job in getting rid of airport taxis who scam travelers. The transport system in the country sucks so this is the least they can do.
Grab food same with food panda.
