Vini saved my life when I was around 16. He showed me possibilities and gave me food and a place to stay when nobody else would. I will always love him for that.
I used to be a postman in 1985. I used to deliver to Vini on Central Road in Didsbury. Never knew who he was. What a great muso Bruce lived on that road as well.
The most influential "unknown" band. I saw them in the late 80s at the Bottom Line in New York and was AMAZED. I expected them to become super popular. Whoops, wrong again. Still, I hear so many new bands and think to myself, "Nice try, but Durutti Column did that better". BTW, how great is that drummer?!
grand as owt, Bruce Mitchel , one o the best Manchester jazz drummers, currently running a lighting company too. Goes without saying Vini is a genius . smashing combination them two. Peace
i look just like that drummer when im on the vinegar stroke : ) manchester is amazing for guitarists vini, j squire, j marr and mark day, all a pleasure to listen to.
The beauty in this genius is all in his mind, I can't imagine the colours he experiences. And all everyone thinks about is how monetarily rich they want to be. The Human race appals me
been waiting on this song for ages bruce mitchell can be seen on disc 2 of "24 hour party people" giving a sort of factory commentary with hooky etc-on good form as well
