    Ride the Rails in Real-time: • CTA's Ride the Rails: ...
    Ride the Rails in Time-lapse: • CTA's Ride the Rails: ...
    The CTA has more than 224 miles of railroad tracks across Chicago and surrounding suburbs, serving the agency's eight rail lines. In an average weekday, there are about 2,200 train trips making stops at the system's 145 rail stations. For more than 100 years, the 'L' has offered a unique perspective of Chicago.
    In the first-ever documentation of its kind, the CTA has created a real-time ride along the length of each rail line. Shot in HD, you can now experience the 'L' like never before from the vantage point of the rail operator. You can even transfer between lines.
    Hop aboard, and enjoy the ride.

    I kinda like the CTA; your trains are small, nimble, and fast.

    Based on what ive seen in these pretty awesome ride the rails vids the CTA has posted, that the EL trains are pretty fast for rapid transit trains, they accelerate pretty quick much quicker then here in NYC well at least is seems that way anyway but ill tell ya one thing ima transit buff and the EL is def a cool looking metro/Subway system

    • @rebelroar78
      @rebelroar78 8 месяцев назад

      Depending on the driver and the line, the El can feel like a roller coaster. Usually they leave the station fast because another train is right behind them.

    Video is priceless because it was perfectly shot in detailing the entire Ashland/ 63rd CTA trip with no screw ups with this video 👍👍👍👍👍 ....... Another thing I like about this video is the fact it shows that that crooked Chicago aldermen in city hall actually don't give a 🐀🐀🐀's butt about the people on the Southside and Westside of Chicago, All talk to get selected to office ....

    They need to reopen the Racine train station

    I always think the CTA should consider rebuilding some of the closed stations, like Wentworth and Harvard.

      @MPIEMDRailfan4 7 лет назад +7

      I feel the same way. I wish they'd reopen Wentworth (connection between the Red Line at 63rd) and Dorchester (connection to Metra and South Shore Line).

      The area east of 63rd is coming back to life a bit...coffee shop is located in an area that had been dormant for years. Don't count on anything being rebuilt there...prime focus is on the Red Line extension and the Red/Purple line flyover....

      No stops between Halsted and Garfield. Many riders will take the Red line on 63rd. In my opinion, the only reason Halsted was re-opened, and stays open is Kennedy King College.

      Mark Broadnax You're probably right. I am looking forward to the Red Line Extension. The flyover looks promising, too. I'm glad the Far South Side is finally getting 'L' service. It has been needed for so long and only now is the CTA finally finalizing plans.

      TheBoeingRailroader another need on the south side of Chicago is to better utilize the metra electric line and upgrade it to rapid transit or even a proto light rail for the blue island or south Chicago/93 street branch. the main rapid transit line will go to harvey. express commuter services will run to university park south bend and even Kankakee

    I live in NYC and the trains are different here. It’s a little frightening that the train lines have no rails on the outside of the trains/rails. The trains are really close to the edge 😱

    • @Railoffroader2
      @Railoffroader2 4 года назад +5

      It’s just less space for employees to walk/stand in the clear, it has absolutely no effect on how the trains ride upon the rails or track structure integrity.

    It a shame there's not a lot of development around these CTA stations.

      It goes to Harlem as an El west from the Loop, mostly along Lake St. Hence the former name was the Lake St Elevated.
