In reference to the contractor call- I'm actually a little surprised at the margins being that low. I'm a specialty contractor (high end cabinets), and my yearly sales aren't anywhere near his, but my margins are closer to 35%. I'm in California. If you sub something out, it is customary to mark it up anywhere from 15-30%. Employee final margins should be at least 30%.
Hmmm... Maybe he's investing in a lot of infrastructure and equipment. Very interesting.
Credit where credit is due, I'm not clearing 2.5mil this year and I've been in business longer than him. So still very impressive. Just an interesting statistic.
