Tbh a bit of a disappointment from the get go. Waduhaha cannot mean both the sun's brightness and the whole day. When the night unfolds into the day and the day unfolds into the night as we are told by Allah Azza Wa Jal, the suns brightness does not diminish or dissipate. So the brightness of the sun is always there, whether we see it or not. So the two meanings are clearly different. When Allah swears by the sun He adds and it's brightness, He's letting us know what an amazing miracle the sun is and so is it's brightness. And Allah knows best.
