Back when he didn’t use auto tune in his performances. Not that he sounded bad with it. If anything, he was great with auto tune or without it

On his death race for love tour (or at least towards the back end of it) he went in and out of using auto tune and raw vocals. He did a ton of vocal training in 2019 and was doing some incredible a cappella shit when I saw him a month ago
