    I don't know why, but i found that every (coated or not, pre-damped or not) reverse dot snare drum head from Evans makes the snare sounds good only at high tuning. At low and medium they vibrate with a high amplitude (even with soft hit), making the wires going crazy

      @@gabrielmorel9200 what an interesting observation. I never gave a thought to that. Perhaps a comparison video might help confirm it for a fact.

    Low tuning sounded awful yet the finger tight sounded great, but high tuning is where its at 👌

    Yo, thanks for the review man. First time I bought a snare head and this was my final decision now. Got more and more annoyed with the thin sound and overtones of my snare. Fair enough, those were stock heads, just didn't have the money to get em replaced. Getting a much better snare sound now, even tho the snare itself isn't great either. Lesson learned, a good head does the trick.

      You can't rely on 'em stock heads. Congrats on the new snare sound

      @@MichaelOloyede Ya definitely not. But all of gear is just so damn expensive, always takes a while so save up the money. But I'm still pretty happy with the snare sound. I almost only play rimshots and they sound great. Tho compared to about any other snare I've played so far, it is by far the loudest and it's most definitely the head. I like tho, not sure the neighbours do

    I've this on a pearl snare and I really don't feel the sound. The durability is there but I don't get that sharp makossa sound and its frustrating.

    • @MichaelOloyede
      @MichaelOloyede  2 года назад +1

      It's a thick head and you probably need a single ply head for the sound and crack/ring you're looking for.

    I've played 1 Gig with this Head on my Acrylic DW Snare. The Soundman had said it was very "Boxy" sounding through the PA. I had it tuned very high as well and the snares tighter as well. Not impressed with it. I may go back to something witb more of a atronger "Crack" sound like I normally play. Thats the sound that appeals anyway.
    Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this head sounding better?

    • @MichaelOloyede
      @MichaelOloyede  5 месяцев назад

      I would suggest you crank the response head as high as possible to get the crack you want on the batter side... You have to go as tight as possible, but be careful not to break the head (response side) or your snare lugs...

    I'm guessing with the right shell and tuning combo it could sound good but first impressions is that I would never buy this head.

    • @MichaelOloyede
      @MichaelOloyede  2 года назад +2

      There are some heads that sounds good no matter the shell you out them on. I guess this is not one of them

    Have they discontinued this head? I can't find it anywhere.

      Nah, they haven't. Maybe you were searching on your laptop, if so try it on your phone, the search results are very different from one another. But I just typed it in and found it in 6 online shops right off the top, I'm from Europe tho. But also checked, Sweetwater got it in stock too.

    • @JonieBalonee
      @JonieBalonee 2 года назад +1

      I think that’s partially due to the tension of the snare wires. They sound too tight and are choking the time of the drum.

    • @Ultimatenerf320
      @Ultimatenerf320 9 месяцев назад

      @@JonieBaloneeI got this head a while back and I tried tuning it for hours and it still sounded awful. Overtones all over the place no matter what. And usually higher tunings are pretty forgiving for over tones but I just never got it sounding as good as pretty much any other head I've tried. Even the fyberskin is better than this dog pile. Quite possibly the worst ever head I've ever used or even heard.
