That man on drums is Salim Khan, Salman Khan’s father. Helen and Salim are now married and living in Bombay.

Apparently Shammi Kapoor’s first wife Geeta Bali (also a movie star) helped to groom his look to be very Elvis like. And it really suited him and was very much of its time. This is my all time fav song, so it was so cool to see it from your fresh perspective. Great review as always. 👍🏻

Now it's time to know Helen the great dancer in Indian film history. She's Burmese by birth, knew almost all forms of Indian, Western dances to their utmost perfection. You should explore more in her dance numbers. Today's dancers are practically children to her enormous dance talent.

Imagine, teesri manzil means Third Floor. Back then a hotel with three floors was a big thing. Now though you need skyscrapers for a good plot. It's more like an influence of Agatha Christie than Hitchcock. Or both. So the girl at the table who flounces away at the end is Asha Parekh. She's over there to investigate the murder of her sister, thinks Shammi Kapoor is the murderer. Brings along a girls' hockey team to teach him a lesson. She was considered to have the most shapely hips of the era.

It is one of the best Hindi movies ever produced -- I think among top 5. Hitchcock mystery wrapped in romcom.

Helen was born in Burma during the British times I think. Coming over to India crossing the jungles, was a treachorous journey with her family
They reached Assam somehow where she lost her brother in Smallpox
After that she reached mumbai and rest is history!

    Today’s Shammi Kapoor 10th yr death anniversary😢.........
I loved him, he was the ultimate entertainer n watching him perform makes you think he was put on this earth for the sole purpose of entertaining....Did you know he did not have choreographers for his songs, he did his own thing and they never knew what he was gonna do but he paid meticulous care to his songs and knew what he was gonna do as the songs developed. He only allowed Mohammed Ravi to sing for him....He was known as the Elvis Presley of India in looks as well as style....he did not copy, was just influenced....I always want to fix his hair while watching him, they seemed to have had hairspray for everybody’s hair except Shammiji’s hair hehe. His hairstyle always gets messed up from all that head shaking.......
You would absolutely enjoy the songs from An Evening in Paris, Shammiji was an absolute delight. It was filmed in France, Beirut (where Shammiji fell in love with a famous belly dancer), Switzerland and New York......
In addition to Shammiji, there were 2 notable cabaret performances by serious actress Sharmila Tagore at the Moulin Rouge, very Helen-esque.....Would love if you could react to a couple of songs from the movie.....
AASMAN SE AAYA FARISHTA where Shammiji romanced her from a helicopter and
LEJA LEJA LEJA MERA DIL and ZUBY ZUBY JALEMBU...the 2 cabaret numbers or just one of them.....If you don’t react to the songs, at least watch them, you won’t be disappointed. You earned my like and subscription.👍

Great reaction! You must react to 'MEHBOOBA O MEHBOOBA' from SHOLAY. This is Helen's finest dance performances. She is a Cabaret style dancer, and you can see that in 'MEHBOOBA O MEHBOOBA', which is also an absolute classic song and dance sequence - a must watch!

Hi Mathew, so nice to see you after my brief break from RUclips viewing. Teesri Manzil is one of the most iconic movies of Shammi Kapoor. The plot keeps guessing who killed the girl who fell from the third story - hence, Teesri Manzil. I’ve seen this movie gazillians times. Songs are amazing and evergreen, and the music by R D Barman that put him on the forefront in the music industry.

The poster is actually not from 1966 but rather a recreation from 1990's having clarified that the talent's of Rafi, Asha, R.D. Burman, Shammi and Helen had many imitators but no equals!!!!!!!!!!
