Crosley Field Site Cincinnati Reds Stadium Review

- The former home of the Cincinnati Reds hasn't hosted a baseball game since 1970 but its site has now been turned into an interactive outdoor museum. The City Gospel Mission offers copious amounts of memories of the former home to the baseball in Cincinnati.
The site includes replica low towers and seats, baselines, bases, photographs in the City Gospel Mission lobby, and a beautiful commemorative mural. It is a fun way for the ballpark hunter in all of us to enjoy the game of baseball, without attending a game.

A few years ago they had an event at the site, with tour guides showing where home plate was, etc. I saw my first game at Crosley in 1957. I remember seeing painted on the outside of the ballpark 'Home of the Cincinnati Reds' and at age 6 I thought that meant the players actually lived there...;) At the event that day there was Leo Cardenas and Tommy Helms; the Reds' DP combination in the 60's. Many great memories of the games I saw there and still miss it.
There is nothing like an old ballpark to bring back memories of childhood. I was not around during Crosley Field's time. What was it like when Riverfront Stadium opened in 1970 to you? Did it seem like a baseball stadium or something else? The differences in structure must have been jarring.
I was 19 when Riverfront opened. And being 19 and a little bit stupid I was excited to see us finally get a 'real' major league ballpark. Now of course I feel differently. btw a buddy and I sneaked into the first World Series game at Riverfront in 1970.

Those seats are actually from Riverfront Stadium unfortunately. There were seats from Crosley there years ago but they were stolen.
A bunch of savages in town! I hate to hear that they were stolen.
So cool! Love the reds and all its history
It's a wonderful addition to Cincinnati. Thanks for checking it out.
At ten years old I was supposed to go to my first Reds game It was to be a doubleheader Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and it was rained out What a bummer that was But that night I got to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon That was a great time to be a kid
It sounds like you lucked out. Walking man on the moon was a once in a lifetime event. The Reds would play again soon after at old Crosley.
If they really walked on the moon they wouldn't have just stopped.
I think 2nd base is in the middle of Dalton Ave
Thanks! I need to return to the site.
2nds base is the the building that you were in at the start of the video.
Thanks for the info. I must have made an error when I recorded it.
hey brother! how did u get into the first base site?
I walked into the building, and the door was open. Did you have trouble getting in?
@@BallparkHuntergoing there right now, thank u man! 🙌🏼
@@JTBMLB223 Let me know if there has been any changes
There are markers for third and home. They are in an alley not far from where your video ended.
I may have to return for a second video! Thanks for the info and subscribe if you can!
Home plate is marked in an alley by the gospel mission.
